As a Sonic fan I’m always anxious whenever someone comes in and experiences the series for the first time due to the negativity that typically surrounds this franchise though some of it is admittedly well deserved, but it genuinely surprised and warmed my heart that you enjoyed the game ( not saying that you have to like the game for my sake or anything like that lol ). Out of the games to start with from my experience people typically say: Sonic 1, 2, maybe Adventure 1&2, Colors, Generations, and/or Mania would have been good starting places, but hey just go with whatever seems interesting to you it seemed to work out well for you this time. I enjoyed the calm presentation of the video as well.

@@Denymeister It’s a variety of things… for one Sonic has changed a lot over the years and has had many games in different styles of play which in turn created sects in the fanbase; each fanbase has their version of Sonic that they believe to be best and that can cause infighting. Secondly sometimes for people it comes down to the games themselves not being polished enough or controversial game design decisions like for example: having to collect a decent amount of sun and moon medals in Unleashed to progress and in terms of the daytime stages some of the locations actively go against what the game was designed to do, Sonic 2006 is a notoriously panned game for a variety of reasons, or in Shadow the Hedgehog you have to beat the game I think 12 times before you get the true ending of the game which nullifies previous endings, etc. which kind of feeds back into the first point I made. There are many other reasons and I wish there was a video I could refer to you to help with understanding this more cohesively, but nothing comes to mind at the moment. For now I think the key words that can be used as an umbrella term for some of these issues people have with this franchise are “inconsistency”, “poor quality control”, “divided fanbase”. If you’re interested though I implore you to research this on your own time I’m sure there’s a source out there that can help with understanding this.

IMO the best way to get into the series is Generations. Not only is it just beginner friendly, but you also get to see the first 20 years of Sonic's history.

nah Forces looks like shit compared to Unleashed lol I mean don't get me wrong Forces does look better in a technical sense, like it looks better in the same way that everything is more detailed, but Unleashed looks absolutely stunning art direction wise
