I grew up with cottage as a staple side to go with pretty much any meal. Not breakfast, though. I ALWAYS have cottage cheese in my fridge. dipping Lays Wavy or BBQ chips in cottage cheese is very satisfying and delicious. When I was little, like age 4, my spaghetti on my plate, mixed with the cottage cheese also on my plate and I announced to my family that spaghetti and cottage mixed together "makes pink!" My dad actually "quit" cottage cheese in mid-life because he felt like he was addicted to it. haha. Wow, I have a lot to say about cottage cheese apparently.

We have cottage cheese quite a bit in our house. My wife and I really like it, and we do mix it into pasta whenever we have cottage cheese. It tastes like lasagna, without having to place the layers. Except for spaghetti, angel hair and linguine, any of the long noodles, it's just weird then.

I love cottage cheese and have since I was a kid. It's so versatile, but I generally prefer it savory. I love it with tomato sauce and pesto (like a lump of cottage cheese and a spoonful of pesto) sometimes I put that on toast or rice cakes or as a dip for crackers and chips. I use it to make a pumped up protein ranch if you puree it in a blender and thin it out with a little milk you can get the same ranch dressing texture for dipping veggies. My mom's lasagna recipe uses cottage cheese and it's my favorite lasagna to make. Also mic a spoonful into eggs while you scramble them in the pan. 🤤

Also large curd highest milk fat you can find is the best. Aldis brand cottage cheese is actually really good and affordable too if you need a lot for a lasagna or just cause you eat that much like me. Lol

Once in a while when my mom went on a diet, that meant me and pop went on one, too. That meant cottage cheese and fresh fruit for breakfast. Nowadays I'll use it in lasagna if I don't have any ricotta around. That baked ziti looked tight. That toasty cheese on top totally makes it. We didn't have ricotta in our BFE West MI stores growing up so all baked pastas (lasagna, ziti, baked spaghetti) were with cottage cheese. Maybe it's the nostalgia but I like it. The best cottage cheese is the true probiotic stuff like Good Culture or Nancy's. I'll eat that straight.

My family uses cottage cheese in place of sour cream on potatoes. I prefer it actually. Also we ear potato chips, like the thin ones are best and cottage cheese as dip. Now all cottage cheese is not the same. Deans small curd the best out of all brands. Don’t care for nordica, or Lucerne . Break stones is okay.
