On vacation in Spain, 1978, I met a girl called Sarah - my first summer romance. We swam together, sunbathed together, smoked our first joints together, and we listened to this song. For me, this song will always be that summer and that girl. It’s a time capsule.

The Bee Gees wrote all their own songs, including this one. They were songwriting geniuses and singing geniuses. They also wrote many big hits for other singers. They started writing songs and singing as a group when they were young children and went on doing it at a high high level for nearly 50 years.

Thanks for your reaction! The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin'. From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ_MiYaebNuKiKs Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXnCm2xmm6h8oZY, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJerhoZrgstjZrM. From their Still Waters album, Smoke and MIrrors: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4Wcp4V-iLyBmM0. From the 1960's I've gotta get a message to you kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXKXdHykedOHoZo.

Mia, I think mom wanted you to hear the kind of love songs she grew up with. And she got you. More like the song got you. That's ok, good songs are supposed to make you feel like that. No shame in showing your true emotions. That's what your fans want to see. You can include me among those fans. I loved when you stopped the video and said "MOM! HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE?" Apparently, her love for you and great love songs is very deep! I love this fact! What a way to honor your mother's request. Maybe she knows you a little better than you think she does. And that is PRECIOUS!

I'm 58 and was lucky enough to live in that era. The song writing and the pure voices I got to experience growing up made me appreciate moving songs and it's so cool to see young people be exposed to stuff like this. Barry Gill was widely considered as one of the purest voices EVER!

Darling I loved your reaction cuz it's pure I watch your tears and watch your eyes you are a romantic not many luck in this world. The Bee Gees were a phenomenal group they were unique they wrote their own music I believe that if the younger one I don't remember his first name would not have passed away you do to an overdose of Oxycodone that they would have still been making music together you had Maurice Barry and I don't remember the younger brother's name but they were around for a while 1955 56 they came about I believe in 1965 66 somewhere in that area but. You are witnessed what music was all about back in the '70s well what you would call the Disco error and during the Disco error a lot of love ballads came out I mean we knew that the ballads were unique and the artist behind most of the ballads during that era we're unique in their own way. You had the Melba Moore Jackie Moore you had sissy Houston I Believe was the a u n t to Whitney Houston. You know we're in 2022 and music has changed drastically over the last 40 years I miss them days emotion, feeling, love keyword it was in every song that was written by a lot of artists back in the '70s love. And it all stems from the writers producers and so on. The generation of the seventies was totally different than any generation over the last 40 years. Crooners have come a long way and have died out music industry is gone it can never be duplicated ever again now it is all about the dollar bill and not the music. Well I will end my little introduction and I wish you a good night God bless and stay healthy

It made me cry that you cried. So sweet. It's always cool to see how someone reacts to these songs when they didn't grow up with them - and have no history with them good or bad. And this is probably loosely a music video - because we didn't really have them quite yet in the late 70s as we would in the early 80s... but yeah this was probably made for some kind of TV or promotional use. I've never seen it. Saturday Night Fever was SO huge when it came out. The album was just so massive. Because you have so many places to get content now - that really doesn't exist anymore where one thing becomes so huge. It's good and it's bad because it seems like maybe there are too many things out there for any one thing to become really big. On the other hand there's a lot more chances to put yourself out there or your art, music, whatever - and be seen. Great reaction once again.

For a NYC area kid like myself who came of age during the late 70’s The Bee Gees were a major part of the soundtrack of my adolescence😇 They were on a roll after “Fever” came out…

This song was written by the Bee Gees. They wrote and produced over 1,000 songs. They have sold over 120 million records worldwide (with estimates as high as over 225 million records sold worldwide), making them among the best-selling music artists of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997; the Hall's citation says, "Only Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees." With nine number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, the Bee Gees are the third-most successful band in Billboard charts history behind only the Beatles and the Supremes. They are the brothers Gibb. They started singing when Barry Gibbs (born 1946) was 8 and the fraternal twins Maurice and Robin (born 1949) were 5. They formed the Bee Gees in music group formed in 1958. They had over a thousand songs over 5 decades and wrote for Diana Ross, Dion Warrick, Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton and even Michael Jackson. They were musical geniuses. They constantly reinvented themselves, constantly growing as singers and song writers. Here's just a few of their most popular songs. 1967 -- Massachusetts -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpyck6Cro8h1arM 1968 -- I've Gotta Get A Message To You -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/foSnaXWhpct8j9k 1977 -- Stayin' Alive -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/nH-pq5mtgbJqaMU 1979 -- Too Much Heaven -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/moGXeZt7f5yEqtk 1993 -- For Whom the Bell Tolls -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3K3n5luftGDbrM

The song was written by Barry Gibb, based on a few cords from his keyboardist, although he might have credited to the Bee Gees. They mostly wrote their own material. I was 14 when this song was released. It is a very beautiful ballad, but although the Bee Gees SOUND is present, it is not really typical for them. Check out Staying Alive, which is their signature song, and more typical--at least by this point in their career. Tragically, Barry lost all of his brothers at relatively young ages.

@@DoIttMiaaaa it was during the era where lines of music fans were very set....disco was the enemy to a lot of people who liked rock and vice versa....just was a silly time...I really don't know why you couldn't like AC/DC for one reason and these guys for another....diversity is a good thing not a bad thing...lol

I believe a lot of fm rock stations changed their format as the Saturday Night Fever & disco era became more popular....hence another reason heavy rock enthusiasts felt the need to strike back at someone or something. Even though the Bee Gees never ever considered themselves disco (r&b, funk, soft rock), their careers went downhill soon after due to the disco backlash. As Barry has always said they were "the enigma with a stigma". 😢
