Some background on her and this song: She moved out from Philly to LA and was working as a waitress, trying to make demos to sell herself as a songwriter, not a performer. She did a demo of this song and sent it to her best friend who was a dancer (she is the featured dancer in the video) and the friend sent it to the choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance. They hardly ever feature unsigned artists, but they did for this and it blew up. That got Christina a record deal practically overnight. A Thousand Years is her biggest song. I think Arms is her best and has a great video. She went through tragedy in 2020, suffering a miscarriage and a stillbirth in the same year. She wrote a very powerful song about grief, called Evergone. Definitely worth a look.

For some reason when this song came out, it shifted me back to the worst breakup/time of my entire life that I never wanted to revisit & it felt like the song wouldn't just let me be LOL! Thank God THAT'S over 😆

Mia,your reaction was spot on. When an artist creates a song with truth and emotion it helps some of us find who we were and brings good change. Thank you.

When I heard this song it brought me back to my first love as a young girl. It still makes me sad this song.

Such a depressing song but so beautiful. Truly a masterpiece lyrically and musically. I think it’s a bout a person who maybe intentionally or unintentionally goes into relationships just to break someone’s heart , like they struggle to stay in a relationship and collect their own “jar of hearts” in a sense . Idk just my thoughts

Love Christina Perri! The Lonely is probably my favourite song , but Human, Arms, and Distance are also really good. Can’t really go wrong with any Christina Perri songs tbh

Must reaction to A THOUSAND YEARS from the movie Twilight
@jamescurfman328411 ай бұрын
There are actually two different versions of 'A Thousand Years' (but both are awesome). The original was out before the movies were filmed. When it ended up on one of the soundtracks, it was different, like Christina had re-worked the song a little bit.

I normally love to wallow in emotional music, but even I can't listen to this one as it's just too painful. It brings back painful memories.
