I’ve commented this on a previous video and a community post of yours, but you totally should dissect Muse. They go into a wide variety of genres and Matt is a solid singer. I highly recommend Knights Of Cydonia, specifically Live at Rome Olympic Stadium 2013. The best version of the song imo. Matt’s vocals were at its peak, and I’d love to hear your take on it.

I ve been into vocal theory for 15 years. Believe me or not, to produce D♯5 with pure chest voice is POSSIBLE. Corvyx is an animal and absolutely able to do that. Mix voice is kinda "cheating" thing at performing high notes. But there are very few people can do that with pure chest voice. The mighty Mark Boals, for example. He performed lots of G♯5, A5 with pure chest voice. Go check out some, Malmsteen - Leonardo, Playing with Fire, Gimme Gimme Gimme.

Thank you Peter, I’ve listened to all Corvyx reaction vids and this was one of my absolute favourites, I love it when singers react to singers, it offers so much more perspective and us ‘non singers’ learn so much. Looking forward to you reacting to more from Corvyx in the future. He is a future star in the making. I do recommend you listen to his cover of ‘Anyone’ it’s so beautiful, but also the ‘Sound of Silence’ and, well all of them, they are all brilliant! I will definitely be tuning in to more of your reactions, they’re great.

Finally!!! I was waiting so impatiently for this one! One of my two top favorite male singers finally here! I enjoyed this analysis so much, as always a lot of interesting information and insights that an amateur like me would never be able to notice. I'd love to see more CORVYX analyses, especially my favorite: 'Burn It All Down' (you like LoL so you should like it too ;) ) but for example most recent 'The Sound of Silence' is also amazing. But for now maybe you'll also analyze my second favorite singer Son Jin Wook after all? I know it's not so easy because unlike CORVYX he's totally unknown YET. But I'm sure you'd enjoy his crazy powerful high pitches too. You can start with his LIVE cover of 'Believer' (after all you like Imagine Dragons as well :D). All of his best songs and covers are in my playlist of Son Jin Wook & DANGGISIO.

This was my first time watching your channel, after watching the interview you did with Corvyx. I found it fascinating how detailed you were about the vocals, how vocals work, etc. I have always loved music, and even went through college to become a recording engineer (a very long time ago). This would have been cool to know and learn for recording purposes! I haven’t lost the ability to listen to new music and hear it differently than the average person…. Used to really tick me off, but as I aged, I got over it and just learned to live with it! Lol. I really enjoyed this video, thank you. I don’t understand why Corvyx doesn’t have a recording contract. He is phenomenal.

Very informative video! Corvyx’s range is just unbelievable! For anyone like myself who studied with a “Classical” voice teacher, Corvyx is singing notes in the same register or tessitura as the famous “Doll Song” in “Les Contes d’Hoffman”. ( Listen to Natalie Dessay’s or Diana Damrau’s amazing renditions of this famous aria).

Found this really fascinating that you think he's not in head voice though a lot of bits I thought he was. I think you could be right, but I've seen so many good power-metal vocalists that are clearly in head voice with this sort of tone that I think is possible he's more or less in head voice for the whole song. I once asked one of them how they did this and they told me "straw singing - a lot of straw singing" This reason the mixed voice sounds so good on the high Eb is that he was already mixed the whole way through. He's not stretching his chest voice 'up there' he's taking his mixed voice down - the way hair metal singers in the 80s did.

Thank you first for a great and entertaining channel! Your commentaries are spot on as well. I've been watching the actual video over and over and noticed something to back up your theory that Corvyx is lip singing. Look at how he holds the microphone. His hand from time to time is covering it. I never sang using a microphone, but it seems that this wouldn't be the best idea, lol. Thoughts anyone?

I watched this video because I’m a huge Corvyx fan, and I want to hear what you think of his performance. I’m an alto, and to me, Corvyx passes as a male alto than a tenor. However, I forgot that tenors & altos have similar vocal range. I appreciate the vocal techniques you give in this video.

His latest edit of My IMMORTAL is flawless. Some my find the vibrato in a couple of parts not to their taste, but nobody can say the singing is anything other than sublime. Corvyx kills it. I transition to upper mix to head at A4, usually G4 mainly. It’s hard to carry that much weight up, without thinning it out too much.

Earthside recently featured two very different vocalists on the same song: Gennady Tkachenko-Papizh doing operatic vocals and astonishing noises, and Daniel Tompkins with clean and harsh vocals in a very modern crispness. I talked to one of the mixers, and the balance was striking, as well as being incredibly challenging. Hard to find vocalists with more differing styles. For me, the clinch was a lot of incredibly SUBTLE details. Definitely requires good headset or studio monitors. Earthside - Let the Truth Speak kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6nVg6qlh7R3o9E

Okay so here's what irritates me about this kind of stuff. Is the fact that instead of just listening to the song all the way through. And then coming back and playing the song again and then put in your 2 cents or do your breakdown of the song. You instead continuously stop the song talk between each section of the song and give your two cents. It irritates me to no end when people do this. Listen to the song play it out hear the song feel the music. Then come back and do your information on it and this is a big pet peeve with me. And I cannot stand it when people do this. You make it very hard to actually listen to the song itself because you want to break the song up in a little sections instead of actually listening to it all the way through and then break it up into little sections. If you want to do your commentary do it afterwards. Listen to the damn song Play it hear it feel it and listen. Quit interrupting it and makes it really enjoyable to listen to the song.
