I love Pavarotti and Italian operas like Rigoletto. Watching your face as you enjoyed this was fun. You should go see an opera in-person sometime. Great stories about love, jealously, greed, sacrifice - all told larger-than-life so beautifully. They also show the english translation during performances (just like subtitles on TV). Because you love music and life and react so emotionally to songs, I think you’d really enjoy the experience.

My grandmother who had immigrated from Italy on a boat here to the US used to play Opera all the time. I remember her making her home made spaghetti as she would speak in Italian & get upset say words such as Madone & Fanculo as her hands would go flying in the air 😂🤣. My mom would play Opera all the time as well, this song here although I don't speak a lick of Italian, I can sing every lyric. It brings back such good memories & I absolutely love your facial expression when he hits those notes. Luciano Pavarotti has a voice that can make anyone feel emotional & you have no idea why. Just because his voice is so beautiful. Thank you for doing this one.

This was brilliant - and so was your reaction! loved them both. The power of their voices - especially as, in theatres, they'd have to sing over the orchestra - literally, as the orchestra was between them and the audience Try the Quartet from Rigoletto? - really amazing piece; I first heard this with headphones on, and on that recording, you could hear the voices coming from four different directs, like they were standing all around you. blew me away ps all I know about the words is that the tile means "Women are fickle"; don't need to know even that to love it

I'm also 69, and love opera. If you ever watched Bugs Bunny cartoons as a child, you might recognize a lot of classical music bits. On KZbin, I recommend starting with lighter, comical operas like The Barber of Seville, The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute. Also look for English subtitles, they help a lot. Even better, go see an opera live, there is nothing like it.

As an opera enthusiast myself, I totally agree with you! Alongside Queen, Opera and classical music in general just makes everything better, plus opera is just an invaluable method of storytelling as well! ! In case your wondering, the opera Rigoletto takes place during the 16th century in Mantua, Italy. Pavarotti's character, the Duke of Mantua is the bad guy and an infamous womanizer. Ironically this song describes how women are the fickle/disloyal ones. Rigoletto is the Duke's hunchbacked court jester who has a daughter, whom he is trying to keep hidden/protect from the Duke's philandering clutches and the corrupt court. When his daughter is ultimately abducted, delivered to and seduced by the Duke, Rigoletto ultimately hires an assassin named Sparafucile to get revenge. The assassin's sister helps him. In this scene, its near the end of the opera, the Duke goes to the assassin's house, unaware of who he is. The woman the Duke was kissing is the assassin's sister Maddalena and her job is that she is supposed to entice the Duke and her brother would deliver the killing blow. I won't spoil the rest for you, read the synopsis on your own. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rigoletto#Synopsis

Please don't be ashamed to express your emotions. Emotions are what make us human and separate us from the other animals.
