This song is about a group of space explorers who take part in a year's voyage . When they return they realise that a hundred years have passed , because of the time dilation effect . Nearly all their loved ones they left behind are now dead . Brian has a great voice ! . You will have to react to one of Roger singing as well . I'm still loving the texts on screen , with your thoughts and info of the song . Thanks for a great reaction to this 👏

When you’ve listened to Queen long enough you can tell which songs were written by each member. They all had such different styles

Written by Brian May, he wanted to wrote a folk song about the future (folk songs are generally about the past). Brian has a PhD in Astrophysics and has a huge interest in space. He does some work for NASA still, even at 75 years old. Einstein has a theory called Time Dilation Theory in which if you travel at a certain speed time will actually stand still. So when the volunteers in this song finally made it back to earth after what they believed was one year, earth had aged 100 years and all their loved ones had passed on. The space travelers had long lost contact with earth so of course they were presumed to be dead. The main character in the song finds his granddaughter and in her eyes he sees the eyes of his own daughter. Brian is a great writer of ballads and this is one of my favorites of his.

‘39’ is one of my dad’s favorite Queen songs! And leave it to a genius to write a song about space time travel. 🚀 I love it! 🌠🌟💫⭐️💫✨. 🗣 Hey Bri .. still waiting for that Time Machine ⌛️

This is my favorite Queen song. I first heard it when I was 14 years old in 1975. It inspired me to learn to play the guitar. I didn't learn to play the guitar until age 19 but I achieved my ultimate goal of being able to play '39 a year later.

Wow I haven't heard this in a long time. Another great reaction. I still believe they are one of the most versatile groups ever. Please don't kill me for asking about somebody to love original version again but if you haven't seen it yet I think you'll love reacting to it.

Hi, I subscribed to your channel tonight because I enjoyed so much the Journey you went on to discover Queen. It’s going to be fun to watch you discover other great artist to. There’s one Queen song that a lot of people don’t respond to. It was released three years ago by Dave Clark. It was a song that he had Freddie record for him that was going to be in a show he was putting together back in the 80s. The show never happened so the song kind of got lost. Dave went back stripped away the orchestra, the rest of the band and re-mastered the song with only Freddie‘s voice and the original piano player. I don’t know how to send the link but you can type in, Freddie Mercury, Time waits for no one. It’s one of the most amazing songs I’ve ever heard him do and it’s like he came back in time so we could hear it today. It’s a song we all desperately need to hear. It left me with tears, chills and sadness. It was such a shame to lose him so early please check it out. I know you won’t be sorry. Thank😮 you, Steve

Only Queen guitarist, Brian (aka in real-life, Dr. Brian May, Ph.D. in Astrophysics) would write a folk song about space travel. The song is the 39th album track released by the band when counting each album track from the debut album onwards. The song relates the tale of a group of space explorers who embark on what is, from their perspective, a year-long voyage. Upon their return, however, they realize that a hundred years have passed, because of the time dilation effect in Einstein's special theory of relativity, and the loved ones they left behind are now all dead or aged. Brian sings the lead vocals on the studio recording of the song, but Freddie would sing the lead when they performed it live.- kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqC1hXiAnKukhMU FYI - Brian had asked bassist John Deacon to play double bass for this song as a joke but a couple of days later he found Deacy in the studio with the large instrument, and he had already learned to play it.

I didn't know that about John learning the double bass . That's hilarious that it was supposed to be a joke , but how nice it must have been for John to learn the double bass for Brian 🙂

I agree. That was "Bohemian Rhapsody" before it came out. But she must find the version with "Funny How Love Is" on the end. That's how it plays out on the record. Kinda miss something without it.

There is so much good Queen music it's difficult to choose what to listen to next. I happen to enjoy a good love song with a sax solo and Queen happens to have exactly one. It's called "One Year of Love" and it's written by John Deacon. A beautiful song and Freddie sings the hell out of it.

As you listen too more of the songs and you've still got more than 200+ as they've just released a new version of The Miracle Album which has around 47 tracks on, although some are different versions of the same songs they were putting together, I've pinged you some background on how they get the sounds they're known for

While I adore Freddie, I prefer Brian’s voice in ‘39 - the song’s words and style fit his warm gentle tones better. But I understand that the sheer power of Freddie’s voice was preferred in live performances because it projected more clearly - an important distinction as their audiences got bigger and bigger.
