The Camera Control button is a mixed bag for sure. - I changed it to a double press to summon the camera so that I didn’t accidentally turn the camera on. Using it to take a picture is something that I try to keep an open mind on and try to use it. But I often end up making changes to camera setting when I don’t want to. While using it to take a picture ends up make the phone shake a little because I have to press down hard. I can’t say it’s great. - Cool idea, but the execution is lacking.

I've always been a small phone guy. Always went for the smallest option dating back to when the first Plus option came out and I've been using a 13 Mini up until now. Then I decided to go the complete opposite with the 16 lineup and went with the 16 Pro Max. I had no idea a battery could last this long on a phone. And after a few days adjusting to the size, I'm a large phone convert. I should have made the switch years ago. And as I get older, having the larger screen is easier on the eyes as well. As for camera control, I use it to launch the camera. For that, it's fast and handy. Then I use the screen for everything else.

How's the size adjustment? I've always had the larger ones as well but have pretty tiny hands. I can't even reach to the other side of the keyboard on the max so I'm considering going to the regular pro for a more comfortable phone but the battery is a concern. I'm not sure I can make it a whole day on the pro and do use my phone for KZbin occasionally before bed.

@@Ask-Ali I have average size hands and it was definitely an adjustment. Especially coming from the Mini. The first day I was convinced I was going to return it. But I decided to stick with it for at least a week. By the third day I was already starting to forget about the size. By the end of the week, using any other phone, including my work Pixel 9, felt like the screen was too small. I found I naturally adjusted to handling the phone with two hands without really noticing over those few days. I spend a lot more time watching KZbin on my phone now, so I picked up a popsocket to make holding it more comfortable when in bed. I also have an Apple Watch with LTE, so when I go for a walk or out to run a quick errand, I just leave the big ol' Pro Max at home. If I had to keep it in my pocket all the time, I would likely go with a smaller phone.

@@Ask-Ali No problem! I spent weeks trying to decide between the Pro and the Pro Max, so I totally understand the difficulty making a choice. Especially this year with the slight size increases. The Pro Max is definitely a unit, but the screen and battery longevity really won me over the more time I spent with it. I do so much more with my phone now and I'm really enjoying the experience. But those first few days I did question my decision coming form a 13 Mini, haha.

I’m happy with the camera quality. Designed my Xmas card using a photo of my dog. Previous years I always had to bring out my DSLR to get a professional looking photo. This year it was focus and snap for the perfect shot without scrambling for the right lens and settings. Does great in low light. As someone who breathes photography, this 16 pro is a win. Love this phone.

I don’t use the action button on my iPhone 16 Pro Max to alter settings, but I definitely do use it to quickly open the photos app & to take pics while holding the iPhone horizontally. It’s actually really good at those two things. I do wish the telephoto lens got a 48mp sensor too. And I wish the sensor on the ultra wide was increased in size like the main camera sensor. But those aside, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is my favorite iphone so far. The smart phone design has evolved to the point where it has plateaued. Everyone wants more revolutionary updates, but those days are gone. Every product goes thru this. I think foldable smartphones are not gonna fly. There are too many issues with the screen creasing. And smartphones really can’t get any bigger. Apple will make a super thin regular iphone plus next year with only one camera, but the pro iphones will stay the same thickness because pro lenses like the stacked prism tele lens cannot fit in a super thin design. So people just need to accept the fact that smartphone updates from here on out will be iterative & not revolutionary anymore. I know youtubers will bash these “minor” updates for clicks… but the fact is iphones are still amazing technological super computers that fit in your pocket. Not too long ago such a computer would take up an entire room or building.

Nice video Jon, I personally didn't upgrade from my iPhone 15 Pro Max to the 16 line and I think the Camera Control button sounds neat but depending on how it is in your pocket, the quick access to the camera may be easier just to go from the Lock Screen if you still have it set that way. iOS 18 has been nice but Apple Intelligence isn't fully hear yet as of now!

I do love battery life. However, I have never understood why people did not have multiple chargers and charging blocks with them at all the times. In my truck and my wife’s minivan we have three plug in and 2 usb 300W Car Power Inverter, PiSFAU DC 12V to 110V AC Car Plug Adapter Outlet. I have seen so many people somewhere with their phone dying all because they did not bring a charger and a charging cord with them. Never will get that. I have been reminded by my side to say we live out in the country, it takes 20 minutes to get to town and an hour to get to a city. That could have helped make me so careful.

I chose the iphone 16. The base model. I want to try the small one. My biggest issue is the heating. Is anyone experiencing this problem? I had my phone less than a month. If I had known about the heating issue I could have just went for the 16 pro. Any advice or solutions for the heating issue? The ios is up to date. I already complained this to the Apple Center and they said maybe it will be gone with the 18.1 update. It hasn’t. Also there’s an issue with KZbin’s aspect ration. With the newer videos if I do landscape then go to portrait, the screen is overlapping with dynamic island, time, signal and battery. So I can’t do proper exit or research. And I have been deleting and reinstalling and updating the app and nothing. It’s still there. It’s getting frustrating.

Quality of life improvements are nice. Battery is BONKERS. Camera control....I can't figure it out and it is too fiddly. I have long fingers and large hands. Messing with that button and that tiny viewfinder for the zoom/focus/etc. is PAINFUL.

I just upgraded from my 14 pro max to the 16 pro max. Only minor features seemed to impress me, now that I am on ios 18.2, Siri's upgrade is a nice added feature. I am still going through the features of this phone, the pictures are a little more crips from my 14, but as mentioned, still learning. The biggest thing, Apple hasn't jumped on the foldable bandwagon, and when they do, it will be time to look at other manufactures as foldable had it's place, and today, garbage!

My favorite feature of my 16pm is the battery life is amazing. I got used to the size quite fast and battery last me all day and then some into the next day. I don’t use my camera button is annoying I shut it off. At this point I know one thing is guaranteed from apple every fall and that’s a great phone. I've had many Apple phones and many Android (Samsung) phones in the past. And I'm a 100% Mac guy through and through. In short, Apple sold us all a bill of goods on the iPhone 16 Pro series. Apple Intelligence that has a good 1-2 years to go before it does anything useful. Siri that still sucks. For some people an overheating phone that becomes unusable after shooting five minutes of video outside on a warm day. Let's face it - Apple is really messing up bigtime and they need to get fresh ideas other than A.Intel. Stop letting them off the hook and backpedaling. If the regular 16 screen had a 120 Hz refresh rate, one could make a case that it's a great phone for the money. It's completely embarrassing that even $250 Android phones have this "feature". I will likely always have my multiple Macs (I LOVE the M1/2/3/4s), but I'm wondering if I'll ever own a new iPhone again.

I tested both the 16 pro max and s24 ultra at the store many days ago and I still think the s24 ultra is way more fun to use like my s23 ultra. The s pen w gestures and sound effects , easy ringtone customization , better 5g signal , multi tasking, open operating system, way better display lightyears ahead corning glass no reflections, good lock, emulation at a higher level w no limitations, Samsung TV ecosystem etc . I'll wait for the s25 ultra. I think Xiaomi , Huawei, Honor, Google, Red Magic, and Samsung are far ahead in innovation. For me I left Apple years ago because it has too many limitations in comparison. For me I can't live without beinf able to download anything, edge panel and copy and paste clipboard, stylus support, no foldables etc but some things like imessage and consistent video quality, AI personal voice and iTunes few things here and there are implemented well but android is just more fun for me these days.

Never buy a device for what it promises to do tomorrow instead of what it offers today. I got the iPhone 15 Pro, which I initially thought was a terrible phone-and it is. It’s the first iPhone I’ve ever had a hardware failure with. The iPhone is essentially just a key to the Apple ecosystem for me at this point. For now, I tolerate its many shortcomings, but when the right Android device comes along, my main SIM will go into that. I had high hopes for the Fold 6 to bridge the gap, but unfortunately, that was also a disappointment.

I took my desert titanium 16 pro back on release day. Butttt two months later I bought the Black 16 Pro 😂😂😂. Mainly because I had the 13 Pro and use it for content. The battery life was getting pretty bad. The 16 Pro last me the entire day. The screen is brighter which is great because I work outside. I really like photographic styles. The studio mic mode audio mix feature has been nice. I finally have the Dynamic Island and the action button for the first time. I have more screen real estate. Apple intelligence has been nice as well. I use the photo cleanup and I am a heavy Notes user. It cleans up my jibberish very well. I wish I could use it now to clean this comment up without copying and pasting it 😂. I finally have USBC 🎉. Ok I’m going to shut up now because the list is long 😂😂. God Bless ❤

I’m disappointed with Apple, they released an iPhone that’s made for their new AI but does not have it. It’s slowly trickling in… unacceptable for me anyway
