Beautifully filmed with a gorgeous soundtrack for added immersion into the local atmosphere. I fully agree with you ,buying the correct no queue tickets is the only way to see things without being swamped by crowds and having to battle your way through to see the exhibits. Hope you did well at the festival !

Hello Curtis sorry you had to leave early. Re Acropolis Grandpa Leo Katz Artist, painter, teacher and art historian and someone I feel you and he would have recognized as kindred spirts told me about the Acropolis when I was a child. If he visited and made drawing of the Acropolis it might have been before the 1st world war - I am unsure. This is what I remember about one of his Acropolis stories. Few ancient visitors to the Acropolis were able to enter, rather they would walk as part of a ceremony around the building. As they processed, the gloriously painted bas relief walls would be experienced as a series of pictures separated by columns. He said it was like an early moving picture show. A story would unfold in time and space. What is so moving about your presentations of Egyptian temples is I feel you approach and move about a temple space as it was intended to be experienced. Regards

Greek sculpture, of course, started off with the archaic period, which shows the male figures (kouros) and female figures (kores) hewn out of a square monolithic form. So, if you take a walk around a kouros, you will get the destinct impression that you are viewing an Egyptian sculpture...one straight leg before another, hands down against the sides, stylised muscles, hair and facial features. Of course, Greece was directly influenced by its geographically close neighbour of Egypt. It was only in the classical period that sculptures became realistic.

wow, the thing that caught my attention the most was the fact that on the cemetery stones there were private parts sculpted so that the male or female who died there can be identified :)). It reminds me of ancient Pompey city in Italy, which is full of masculine genitals sculptures all over the place and it shows how much the ancient world was embracing sexuality. Ive been to Greece few times including Athens, but im not a huge fan because the heat is unbearable and the city is so crowded. You were lucky to find a taxi driver so cool, ive only met weirdos in Athens. Loved seeing all the temples you visited, i wish you could have had more time there to talk us through what you found.
