You know the Philippines has the longest direct colonial history with Mexico over Spain because Spain had Nueva Espana (pre independent Mexico) do ALL of the administrative work on the Philippines during the Galleon Trade years, 1560s-1821. Because of this, the Philippines picked up most of this Spanish influence from Nueva Espana rather than Spain. Filipinos need to think Nueva Espana (Mexico) connection first rather than Spain first when they think of "Spanish colonialization".

I spent 6 superb & unforgettable weeks in Mexico last year, from April to May & 2 of these weeks were spent in Mexico City. To this day, after having visited many global regions, this is still one of my very favourite global regions. Mexico is so stunning & Mexico City is just wonderful! It's literally everything, that I fell in love with & it was a truly epic cultural experience/exchange for me. The wonderful peoples, the excellent food (which was some of the very best I've eaten), the culture, the spectacular natural scenery, which literally blew my mind! The ambiance & vibe was always wonderful & I remember feeling so safe, so welcome & so @ home. I never felt scared or unsafe & I will definitely fly back some day in the near future. I really think & feel, that Mexico is a true hidden gem & still underrated, yet, so full of awesome experiences & places awaiting more visitors. I now live/work in Australia, but flew back to my native Norway just over one month ago & although I was very happy & excited to be home, I was still thinking & dreaming about Mexico, not to mention it's superb warmth. It's people & it's wonderful climate, especially during my April to May stay. I love you Mexico & Thank you for making my stay so very warm, welcoming & enjoyable. As a result, such great memories created for me & I yearn to return to your wonderful shores. Peace✌X

We Mexicans are glad that you had a good time and liked the food :) I will give some funfacts of the food and stuff that might help!: The pico de gallo is normally put on top of other food I think the "strawberry with chili" was something called "chamoy/tamarindo", we use it a lot on fruit so that might be it :D The one of "guacamole, crema and queso" was sort of like a "flauta" which is such a great food! I believe there is a big difference of the american tacos with it Gummies are very common in Mexico and more if they're spicy and salty hahaha Mexico City is such a great place for it's weather, rain is very common but satisfying, the sun is almost never a bother so it's pretty calm It's sad to see there's a wall in the "Angel de la Independencia" :( it's not supposed to be there but since a lot of social movements have risen they need to protect it (so yes, you can get very close, theres stairs but for the moment it's closed), sorry about that TT I think where you went next was "Chapultepec" where they have museums and a zoo! A very good place to go

Hey Zane, I enjoyed your video, it gives me a perspective of almost being there. Couple tips for your next time in Mexico, learn these 3 greetings. 1. "Buenos Dias" = Good morning. 2. "Buenas Tardes" = Good Afternoon, and 3. "Buenas Noches" = Good evening. Those 3 sayings are a more local way of connecting , you can say those to anyone on the street, vendors, cashier's etc. Usually most people will reply with the same words and it kind of brings a good vibe with the people. It's a good way to start a conversation as well. I usually get a 95% response back with the same greeting. It's just the way people say hello to each other. Oh and tip # 2. Hey you can always haggle on prices when buying things off vendors on the street, it's almost expected. So if they say $40 pesos, you can offer $30 etc. Especially for higher priced items say some super nice souvenir costs $250, you can barter with $200. Just pretend to walk away and it's 50/50 shot that they will sell it to you for the lower price. Keep up the good videos!

Its so cute and nice you say "Hola" when you meet vendors but usually you can add the "hola, buenas tardes" if its past noon. I was giggling whenever you ask in Spanish "how much?" and they respond to tell you the price in Spanish, and you don't understand the numbers hehe. I've always wanted to visit Mexico City and my friend recommended me to stay in Polanco as he said it's more my vibes and my culture, whatever that means lol I'll probably plan a trip next year!

Polanco is one of the fanciest zones in Mexico, a lot of rich people live there, but is kinda expensive

You really are “ Guapo “ and seems like a very nice person. You are caring also by helping the little kid with your donation 👍. Thanks! I love the way you said “ delicioso “ every time you tried any food and candy. You love spicy food just like most people from México 👍 I glad that you liked the city even though you didn’t visit many buildings, museums, parks, gardens, etc By the way you should know that there are almost 200 museums in Mexico City .,

I think some of the best coffee in the morning are at the "Panderias" Mexican sweet bread shops, here are three of my favorite stores,: Esperanza its a chain store the next is my favorite in Zocalo called La Vasconia tons of variety of sweet bread and last is the Pastalria/Ideal large sweet shop. You found on your walk to the El Angel the neigborhood called Zona Rosa it is always busy area, I was there just last month in CDMX the Angel statue was close for repairs, glad you got a chance to see it plus part of the subway toward Polanco was close for a year now but uber is affordable anywhere in the city.

OMG! I have not been to Mexico City since 1980. Boy how much it has changed in 44 years. Looks very modern now. I love Mexico I just got back from Guadalajara. I loved it I went to visit a co-worker who retired there. He sold his house in Los Angeles, California and bought a beautiful home with a pool. I was amazed the home is beautiful and so much Greenery there in the city. I loved it so much the people are very welcoming. Who knows maybe I will do the same thing.

I typically go to Mexico once a year. I live in Phoenix, and we have like 20 cities in Mexico you can reach non-stop, so it's an easy choice. It's so much less expensive to fly from here to Guadalajara or Puerto Vallarta or even CdMx then it is to fly to Seattle or Chicago. Plus I absolutely love staying in historic hotels. In 2022 I went to CdMx for their independence day (Sept 16th) and I stayed in Hotel Historico Central about two blocks away from Zocalo. It's a renovated 19th century palace. It cost about $700 for a week there and snacks/drinks and light meals are free at the little café on site. Plus you truly can't beat the location. Absolutely loved this video, it's making me have Mexico withdrawals.
