This album is a fantastic introduction for what this band has to offer. Now it’s time for their magnum opus, The Way of All Flesh. Harsher vocals and killer riffs all over it.

Agreed, hell for me it's hard to choose between From Mars To Sirius and The Way of All Flesh, both are AMAZING concept albums. Those two take the same spot on my top 5 Album list, which is this currently HM: Terrasite and Anthropocene Mass Extinction by Cattle Decapitation, Affinity by Haken, Ghost Reveries by Opeth, Autotheist Movement by The Faceless, Tall Poppy Syndrome and Bilateral by Leprous, Pelagial by the Ocean, Eidolon and Feathergun by Rishloo 5. Coal by Leprous 4. Proponent of Sentience by Allegaeon 3. From Mars to Sirius/The Way Of All Flesh by Gojira(I legit cannot choose) 2. Blackwater Park by Opeth 1. Precambrian, Phanerozoic I: Paleozoic, Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic | Cenozoic, and Holocene, all by The Ocean(Yes, is one kinda cheating? Yeah, sure, but they go together, all four albums do in a quadrilogy, so im putting them all together xD)

Thank you for your review! What you just found is the genius of Gojira - the lyrics and the passion behind them. The music itself is jarring in combination. There are more technical groups, heavier, faster.. on and on.. but they’ve carved out a unique space that is all theirs. I’ve been in a Gojira deep dive for about five years, and I think they reached their technical peak on their next album, The Way of All Flesh. It has intensity, speed, and precision. The drumming is off the charts. Joe’s voice is probably at it’s peak. You can’t go wrong with it and based on your comments during this review, you might appreciate it the most. But I’ve come around over time to L’Enfant Sauvage, their fifth album, being their best all around from beginning to end. It is transitional in their discography, and you can feel it.. the songs are full of fire and passion thematically, and the music matches - not necessarily quite as technical as earlier albums, but absolutely brimming with emotion. It’s their gift, and as far as I’m concerned separates them from a lot of other metal. It’s also lyrically brilliant, and still heavy as fuck. Check it out!

You sound like you're taking my path on Gojira 17 years ago and they're still one of my favorite bands today. All of their albums are very different but still go to your room They have one hell of a range. As with most metal bands they go from hardest to softest by natural progression, So maybe you can pick another album based off of that.

Hey just found you. Glad you enjoyed Gojira. I think another band you would enjoy is Opeth. They’re death metal, the two songs I can suggest to show their range is Windowpane and Deliverance. Black Metal has a huge sub genre that is fun to explore if you find something you love. A sun genre I live is Despressive Suicidal Black Metal (DSBM), if you have time check out None - Never Came Home. Either way enjoy your journey can’t wait for more

Gojira, for me, is the best metal band of the modern era (2000+) and top 5 of all time. They're easily my favourite to listen to, I have their discography on repeat most weeks. 1st album Terra inc is proper death metal. Harsh, fun, screeching pinched harmonics and scrapes. The Link is often seen as their least best but one of my favourites, very much a drum album, a favourite for car journeys. Rhythmic. The way of all flesh is peak technical death metal, they really honed that style. Art of Dying a legendary track. L'Enfant Sauvage so well put together, I don't listen to those tracks as often but many people's favourite. Magma was a proper evolution of their sound, some more commercialised but they are so damn good live. It's aged really well, listen to it more now than ever. Fortitude, beautiful album. Really confident to explore themes and Inspirations. My kid's favourite. The outro to the final track is one of my favourite bits of music anywhere. Can't go wrong, they'll grow on you. If you really want to get to know them (this is perhaps more for anyone who's bothered to read this far) they have some old EPs as 'Godzilla', they have a live soundtrack to a silent film called Maciste All'Inferno - which is a masterpiece and you can really see them for musicians - and brothers Joe and Mario (Singer/Lead & drummer) were in an experimental fusion metal band called Empalot, worth a youtube gander (my favourite is Au 2, largely as it sounds like a metal acid trip surrounded by seagulls). They refreshed one of their tracks from Maciste a few years back, a live studio version called Inferno, it's possibly my favourite Gojira track. Enjoy all 🤘

maybe you don't realize it ..but Gojira is actually one of the best band of the world ,one of the best drummer of the world , and live ..one of the greatest live metal band of all time ..i mean objectively .no kidding , evrybody wants to sound like Gojira ,but Only Gojira sounds like Gojira . and when you will see them live you'll be like "ok ... they are tight " to the point that i personally think that they set a new standard in terms of live performance and this already since 2003 ( the link alive concert is a perfect demonstration ) ..anyway .;an oldie ..but ,i think it's the best performance live of that song , check out "Oroborus " live at the eurockeenne 2009 which is off the next album "the way of all flesh "

I know of Gojira and have heard some of their songs. I was unaware they had some clean songs though. A band that is similar, but is more extreme is the Swedish Band Meshuggah. Formed around 1987 and still on the go. All their albums are different and Jens vocals have changed over time. They are quite huge and a lot of their material has a groove to it. I love Destroy Improve Erase from 1995. I would recommend Koloss from 2012. You should listen to all their albums especially Chaosphere from 1998 as it fast compared to the others. Another group I like is the American Band Periphery. Their first album is from 2010. Meshuggah is an influence on them and both bands are under the Genre called Djent.
