My First Time Playing Against a Cheater

I've seen clips of people using cheats in SF6 on Twitter and other youtube videos, but I've never actually played against a cheater on my stream for myself. Today, I believe that a Cammy player I ran into in ranked was acting a bit suspicious and so we analyzed the match to see if my opponent really wasn't playing fair.

the most sus thing is everytime he kncoks down oppoenent, he simply walk straight into them for the oki. No dashes, footsies or baiting, usually there''s only two explanations, either he is bad or he is 100% sure he can react to any moves the opponent does and counter them.

I play fighting games. The thought of having to cheat to win genuinely baffles me.Taking losses is a part of the fighting game experience. Punk is an amazing player, and this year, he won evo. He didn't completely dominate everybody. He took loses but won in the end.

I don't know which youtuber brought this up, but when this becomes really problematic is when already good players start using these scripts in a not so obvious way. Like auto-tech 50% of the time, or auto-DI 20% of the time (while not getting combo'd, if the scripts get that good). This stuff would be really hard to spot, and with most tournaments taking place Online, it would really hurt the competitive health of the game.

Anti cheats are not a good solution, they're intrusive, lower performance and people easily bypass those with some spoofed hardware. I'm saying this because fighting games can make do with automated banning, since the list of inputs are recorded on replays. All they gotta do is grade the consistency of responses.

Because surface level anti-cheats are worthless placebos that just slow down your gameplay and can be circumvented by anyone with half a brain. Only ring 0 level anti-cheats have shown some promise, and even then it requires constant human supervision, and that's without taking into account the grievances of the people that don't feel safe giving some overseas company kernel access to their systems.

Here is a guy that I feel is cheating SirRalic-PC's. His inputs give it away. I played him in Battle Hub. He has an 86.43% win rate. Barely plays but reacts to everything.😂 Of course, he denied it and just said I was bad. It's the same old line.

Keep in mind these people don't just have buttons for reactions but also auto combos without the nerf from Modern. They're not good at the game, they have it played for them. The script reacts to specific inputs, I think on that last round the Guile player was doing random shit to get the script to fuck up. It's the only way to beat 'em.

That's what I'm saying bro, people just say get good but as someone who works in game development I can tell you with absolute certainty there are a lot of cheaters in SF6 and just about any game with a ranked playlist. Preventing injection into the game is near impossible and blocking anit-cheat is super easy and you can no op any anti-cheat before it even runs. Super easy to bypass. The reason people get caught is because of updates changing the line the anti-cheat starts on and so the cheat no-ops the wrong line of code and fails to stop the anti-cheat.

Cheaters think that no one can beat him but mental battle. Once cheater in your match, relax and let the match go. Give cheater your emotional reaction, would lead to more cheaters in game. Remind yourself it is game for entertainment, not mood-ruin. Report him several times after the match, move on to another match. Mentally loss destroy your excitement, game are supposed to be enjoyable.

It's just a really sub-optimal punish for the situation. No master level player (especially one who's 2000+ MR) would punish with a throw in a situation where they could otherwise kill. The only time where a throw would make sense when punishing something so negative would be in a situation where it would kill for optimal meter gain

the DI also gives it away BIG time. HK and 5MK are garbage buttons in this game without excellent spacing because you cant DI, so if your opponent knows the animation for your kick, theoretically youre getting DId *every single time*. them inputting di each time you HK is a huge red flag. imo this is fixed by making DI (in response to an opponents DI) *always* cancellable. then its strictly a reaction check unless you do some serious mind games. i fucking hate drive impact so much. i miss my 5MK and 5HK space/frame traps.

There are ways to prevent cheating that don't require kernel-level anti-cheat. Don't believe companies that say in order to prevent cheating they must have kernel level access, that's just not true. It's also a dangerous precedent, as a kernel-level program of any kind can do serious system-wide damage - look up CrowdStrike as a recent example.
