Starting EVRIMA as a brand new player to The Isle is brutal, it has such a steep learning curve with no tutorial, literally just "you're a new born, go figure it out." style. I would say as Ceratosaurus you generally are better off trusting no one, especially other Cerato's as you are on each others diets.

It is exciting tho to start out but that goes away way too quick since there isn’t much to do once you grow up. There are mutations now but meh

@@ChristopherAndersonPirate You don't learn everything in this game in 100 hours XD It would take basically that long to play every dino 1 time to maturity on first attempt, but that is when the real learning happens. When fully grown, the end game turns much more to PVP rather than PVE and that is where you learn and master the dino's mechanics. Each has their strengths and weaknesses, different diets, different opponents to avoid and strategies for fighting different species. It's natural for people to start with low pop servers, but the whole point for most of us is to grow up so that there is MORE to do. If you play on a server with 100 pop or more, there is always action as long as you are willing to go to it and risk your dino. If you are afraid of fighting for your food or water or just looking for PVP because you are worried about losing your dino, hiding in bushes does get boring.

I've been an Isle player since about 2014ish before there was even an Evrima, back when Legacy had a "progression" growth mode where you started as a small dino like a velociraptor or a dryosaurus and had to eat to grow your way to adult, progressing through the roster with a bigger and bigger dino each time until you reached Rex or a giant sauropod. That game mode was retired years ago but it was a lot of fun and gave you something to do and made you have to earn your place on the food chain other than just sit in a bush and AFK for 3-8 hours. Now there's only this passive growth style of gameplay which can take several hours of real time, more time for bigger dinos and less for smaller ones, and it's basically a sitting/walking simulator while you wait to grow since there's nothing to do other than eat food or fight, and it's really hard to find other players to interact with or group up with unless you go to known hotspot areas, which are almost always dominated by carnivores so forget it if you're a solo herbi unless you're an adult galli or stego. Exploring the new Gateway map is also really difficult considering stamina and stamina regen was MAJORLY nerfed into the ground to the point where the only playable flyer in the game is pretty impossible to play right now -- the devs apparently never playtested the stamina changes on it. It's also just a really unintuitive game that's hard to learn on your own. The blue scent bar is actually your compass, with the upwards-facing spike being north and the downwards-facing spike being south, which you only really figure out if someone tells you since it's just a line and way too minimalistic to identify as a compass, for example. The lead Isle dev is notorious for being extremely rude and cocky to everyone, especially the playerbase, and takes game criticism in the most horrible and unconstructive way you can imagine, even insulting his own players for not liking the way a mechanic works or not having fun with a certain change to the game. There's a lot of issues with the Isle right now but hopefully it becomes a better game over time.

If you actually learn to manage your stamina and how to navigate the sky as a Pteranodon, you don't have any issues with stamina at all. Stop pressing W and Shift and stop making emergency take off with space.

nice video ♥ lovely to see you getting into the isle. brings up memories :) I agree with almost every point you made. the fact you lose everything makes it more intense. the minimized HUD (compared to PoT) makes it also way more immersive in my opinion. you can feel the love for dinos in each of them. they are all unique to play and I would recommend you to give every one of them a try on the long run. even those who aren't designed to fight (like hypsi and dryo) can be very fun to play. a proper chase and escape can feel as good as a victory ;-) anyway, wish you fun on the isle 😃

To keep it real simple, the Isle is far more of a realism survival game. And Pot is more of an arcade type survival game. I prefer Pot, but the Isle definitely has some better elements such as the growth system and AI food options just to name a few.

So a little tip, but you can save your skins! Once you've created a design you like go down to the list of numbers below your color options. Select the number you want, then hit the blue save button underneath the character model. Additionally, all creatures have two patterns. At the top of the color pallet you'll see an option that says Pattern: A. If you click on that you can swap between pattern A and B. And if you look to the right of the pattern option you'll see pattern variation, which gives slight differences to each pattern set. As far as the egg option goes, you can click on it an if there are any available eggs in the server they'll show up for you. You're probably not as likely to see eggs though as there isn't much incentive for people to nest.

when someone attacks you, you can bleed. then you need to sit down and rest or you will die if the bleeding is bad. if you move a lot it will make the situation worse. you bleed if there is a blood image on the left side of the stamina bar. 9:18. Good video!

The little trees icon on the scent compass is a sanctuary. It's something that was added fairly recently. It's an area that has beehives in it that attack creatures large creatures, making the area safe(r) for small/young creatures. Herbivore young can find good food there, and therefor carnivores can also find food there.

Salt water drains your water pool, Salt licks(pink rocks) will heal vomit sickness, unless your cerato or a deino don’t overeat, mud will cover your scent help stop bleeding. Cerato specifically has a higher bleed resistance and gets a buff around dead bodies that haven’t been moved, the bigger the body the bigger the health buff you get, cerato will cuff around dead bodies and has a charge bite attack and deals vomit sickness to others if you have bile, a meter behind your stomach. Smelling works best when you hold it down and go through the whole animation once, that lets you smell the farthest. Diets give you buffs if you have two or more but if you have none your Dino will be malnourished and get debuffs. Dots are carbs help steam, dash is lipids helps night vision and S is protein and helps health though there are a few unique buffs to different combos

turn on manual alt attack so that you can use your basic bite and your alt bite, currently its only allowing you to use your alt bite which cost stam and makes you bite in the direction your looking which can be useful but you don't always want to be using it

Loved this! Would love to play with you and can show you the ropes a bit. Petits Pieds is a fun server to play on! Low rules and nice community. Also, the icons you can smell when you spawn in is the Sactuary spot. Herbivore juvies go there for mushrooms that give you perfect diet to grow faster. Carnivore juvies go there to hunt others. If you're bleeding, be sure to sit and rest. The pigs are ai and the little birds come anytime you kill something and attack you. They are new to the game and can definitely kill you. They're annoying. You either run or attack them back. Once you kill them you can eat in peace... unless something else comes 😂

How to play each creature: Cerato: be a vulture, meaning sniff for foods and go eat the leftovers and while going around sniffing for food kill ai. You can eat anything Carno: Find another carno and team up Teno: good source of food stayy away from sancturarys if you can carnis like to go there stego: just look for food, if someone tries to kill you just face your booty toward their face and if they get close swing herrera: climb trees, see someone? JUMP. If they are too big just ignore and sniff for food sniffing is your friend, make sure to travel Dilo: team up with other dilos and travel in populated areas like center for more food (not reccomended before sub adult) Omni: Same as dilo

So lemme explain some stuff..... You have diets, those are the three hexagons above your hunger meter, a perfect diets for kids are having all three diets so each type of diet must be highlighted (S,||, s dots) givs you 50% added growth rate The palm tree symbols are sanctuaries... babies can enter safely but bees will attack adults... so its a safe space from adults but not from other babies and smaller dinos... Later you'll get a dome symbol on your scent bar.... those are migrations, thats where you'll find herbis to hunt.... the meters on the scent bar for the sanctuaries and migrations fill up to show how close you're getting.... Hopefully this helps a little and also you drank sea water and thats why your water went down and the scentbar has a point which faces up which indicates north and the one pointed down indicates south And one more thing... there are some guides on the isle yt channel and some pointers on the update trailers they release there.... also maybe visit the channel Kouga for more in depth guides

Hey! isle veteran here, i've been playing since 2015-2016 ish, and it's always super exciting seeing new players, a quick tip for using scent is if you want to actually smell further/more stand still and hold Q and through doing that you can actually smell out corpses nearby of which are a primary food source for juvies as it's hard to hunt at that size especially as something more chunky like a cera. But do note that you cannot sniff when it's raining as it's overwhelming for your senses so you have to rely on hearing to hunt once it rains. Speaking of hearing the isle works a little differently when it comes to dinosaur calls, each dinosaur has a total of five calls each having their own meaning, 1- is a broadcast to signify where you are, 2- is a friendly call, 3- is a threaten call, 4- is a panic/alert call and finally the key f causes you to make a small sound of which is also emitted when you talk in chat. These are important to remember as their is no global chat in Evrima and you can only communicate via text with your own species so the only way to signal that you're friendly to other species is via a 2 call, now as for the other questions you asked, the two palm trees that appeared when you smelt were actually showing an active migration zone, which was showing where the prey on your diet was. And as for the little guys that show up when a corpse is present are just little ai scavengers that will occasionally go after juveniles that are eating from the body, but they're very weak and shouldn't worry/bother you. I hope that's enough to answer atleast some of your questions, I would say more but this comment is long enough as is, I'll shoot you a friend request on disc incase you need someone to help ya out.

Well I’ll put it as simple as possible. There’s random drops that can kill anything, full grown or fresh spawn, they are all in the jungle and since there tons foliage in the way you can’t see a bloody thing so you are running around in the jungle and then all of a sudden there’s a 100ft cliff in front of you and you can’t do a damn thing to stop yourself from plummeting to your doom. Here is some tips for two palm trees mean sanctuary, sanctuary is for herbivores. If you press 2 next to a person you can friendly call them and become a group. If you press 1 that’s broadcast to find other people. And for the sniffing you can smell S dots and 2 lines if you go to them it gives you better diet to grow fast, if you manage to get all diets you have a 50+ growth I hope this help! Oh and one more thing there’s salt water and you won’t wanna drink it because it will lower you water

You can save your skin loadouts at the top left. I have no idea how this new map works for food, the one before it has boars, chickens, rabbits, frogs who spawn around the map. I guess this map has a migration system to it as well, where herbivore food rotates around the map ,not sure if the boars rotate like that as well. Compy also show up to bodies to clean them up so there isn't bodies all over the place. You can eat them as well. I just play the deinosuchus, there are fish for you to eat if no players are around lol

I just picked up POT been loving it but it feels more like a deathmatch with 90% of the players going to the same 10% of the map also there's no AI that randomly roam the map making it feel super dead unless you are the hotspot also played BOB but never really got into it.

Try to look at what your dinosaur eats and try to get a perfect diet. The way to do this is by getting different diet for every hexagon. Search up a quick guide on how to do this. Once you learn this the games becomes more fun.

6:19 definitely an ai Dino it was my second time ever playing the isle yesterday after buying it over a year ago. I guess you could say I’m not new to the isle cause I’ve been watching the isle gameplay since it released, and watched the evolution of game throughout the years. And I had a bad experience, the first time I played the isle so I drop the game, but came back to give it another try played as an allo as a beginner to the game I had successfully made it to full adulthood. But back to the ai Dino thingy I was on the verge of starvation and came across an ai.😂😂 I immediately knew it was ai because of the strange behaviors

I personally hate Isle. It's good as far as graphic/feature wise, but aside from that, I feel PoT is better as far as things to do aside from "kill or get killed". Yeah, questing is a pain, but it's something to do when you're not hunting/being hunted. Another reason I don't like Isle is because of the major punishment on death. It makes sense to go back to a baby when you die, but at the same time, it takes sooooooo long to grow anything, then once you die, all that effort was for nothing. It also sucks that you can only have 1 dino and can't make a new one unless you die or go to a different server. That's another reason PoT is better. Both games have their pros over eachother, but they both have their cons as well.

I feel like the permadeath makes the stakes way higher, therefore making it more tense in certain situations. On the downside though, if you die in a stupid or unfair way it makes it way more frustrating. I can totally see why someone would not like it, but I personally love the permadeath, it makes every new dino life you start feel more significant for me and it feels more immersive.

The Islander server is pretty nice, but its a semi realism server, with rules. The nice thing about that is NO MIX PACKING! It also stops people from doing other annoying things that public servers are notorious for.

The Isle is less forgiving and more hardcore, which i like. but the POT has better graphics, better map, better dino models, better movement and, better pvp.

The isle is amazing but this update was..... well...There are issues 😕 But still alot of fun but I imagine it's brutal for new players, also northeast is the hot spot / battles

Ok, this is gonna be an info dump from hell from someone with way too many damn hours in this game. __Controls__: > Holding Q while standing still or walking will allow you to scent for food. Standing still and sniffing is more effective than doing it while walking and you will have to hold it for a bit of time, I let the animation completely loop twice while standing still to get best results. > You can drag/pick up bodies by holding 'G' when the prompt to eat them is displayed. > Press 'H' to lay down. > Press 'ctrl' to crouch. > I'd advise going into your gameplay settings and toggling on Manual Alt Bite. With it on you can bite normally without using a huge chunk of your stamina and can choose to make a bigger more damaging bite by holding 'Alt' as you click to bite. I really cant stress enough how important keeping your stamina as full as possible is. __The Compass__: > Where the blue line points up indicates North. Where it points down indicates South. Halfway bettween them is East and West... you get used to it... sorta. > Those tree symbols indicate the location of a *Sanctuary*. The Symbol slowly fills as you get closer, you'll know you are there when the symbol expands and becomes a border for your compass. > Later when you are too big to enter the Sanctuary you wont be able to smell it and will instead get a similar symbol indication the direction of a *Migration Zone*. __Sanctuaries & Migration Zones__: > Both Sanctuaries and Migration Zones indicate areas where food can be found growing there for Herbivores/Omnivores (in sanctuaries the food is Red-Mushrooms). With all the herbies going there its pretty much an all you can eat buffe for the carnivores. > Sanctuaries are called such because beez will attack any dino that is over a certain weight that enters there, thus protecting the young from the deadly. __Stamina and Health Recovery__: Eather sit down, stand still, or press 'z' to enter a super slow walk to recover stam. Honestly not too familiar with this newly implemented health recovery system that came with the gateway update to say how it works difinitively... but sitting down seems to work just fine. As a juvi you have a frankly huge stam pool so that you may get the best start possible... this doesnt last. As an adult you will not be running everywhere... infact you'll probably be walking everywhere cuz every spec of stam is important when a fight starts and adults drain stam while running super damn fast now. __Cerato__: Lots of fun and complex stuff to this dino. They are the tanky garbage disposals of the isle. They're often called Rot-Wagons because they can smell rotting flesh from farther away than other dino and is one of the few dinos that can eat rotten flesh without getting sick. I havent confirmed but I'm fairly sure they are the only dino to get *diets* from eating rotten flesh. To balance all this they get hungry really damn fast, especially as an adult. They have terrible night vision so I'm pretty certain that the Omni-raptor you saw on the rock could see you just fine. They have a special mechanic where they get a massive buff to their defence when they are near a body that hasnt been moved. You will know you have this buff when you start making the noise that gave away your position at 3:38. On top of all of that they get a special 'bile' mechanic. You gain 'bile' by eating flesh, more bile is gained from eating rotten flesh but its never really been too much of a struggle to get bile. The amount of bile you have is indicated by the grey colour that fills up the hexagon containing your hunger symbol, you can see at 7:35 that your bile gland is just over half full. Biting people can cause them to vomit which gives them a god aweful debuff to stam and drains their hunger, thirst and diets. Another benifit of the Cerato is that you cannot vomit as one, they are immune to it... yay. Ceras are one of the few Cannibalistic dinos in the isle... I can say from experience that every time I've grouped up with another Cera I've privately considered them a portable snack if I cant find food... group up as a cera at your own risk lol. __Other Info__: > Diets: This is something I would go and watch some guides on, it makes a huge difference, especially to a growing dino. > Eggs: There is an offical guide to nesting out on youtube... I'd honestly just watch that if your interested because its a whole *thing.* I will say that currently there isnt really any advantage to it so not many people do it. > Tracking and blood loss: That red drop symbol next to your stamina at 8:48 indicates that you are bleeding, it will slowly empty indicating how much blood you've lost and if it fully empties... you die. Omni raptors are built arround bleeding out their prey so gotta watch out for that. While bleeding you leave behind droplets of blood that skilled players can track you with. While you always leave behind footprints (unless you've taken a mudbath recently), blood droplets are much much easier to track you down with, if your still bleeding and your enemies are still alive... it really doesnt matter how well you hide cuz a skilled player will find you anyway. Moving arround causes to lose blood faster so standing still where you can in combat while bleeding isnt a bad idea. You can recover from bleed if your not bleeding too badly but its generally a good idea to just sit down. You'll know when you've stopped beeding when a white cross apears in the blood drop symbol. > You can save your skins. > That Croc: They definetely showed you mercy lol, they can happily drag your bony ass to the bottom of that river and drown you. Every time you go to drink from any source of water you can't see the bottom of is risking death, the only thing an adult croc cannot grab is an adult stego. This is honestly just the bare bones basics to get ya started cuz I'm dead tired, but I hope this helps anyway. Welcome to the isle.
