I am glad you repaired the side covers instead of buying some. You can buy them down the road but to say you refurbished the originals is pretty cool. Thanks for the shout-out.

I love your disdain for the purists! :) I say if it makes you happy and you like it, that's all that matters. My opinion doesn't matter either but I like it. I think you did a great job on the paint and the stripe design. You are making it yours and that's what matters. Great bad-ass bike. I hope my project turns out as nice. As a guy who painted his Yamaha last fall when temps were all over the place, I think the combination of plastic and cooler temps is what affected your covers. One tip I learned from KZbin vids is warming your paint by putting the can in some hottish water for 10 or 15 minutes before using and giving it a good shaking. The paint flows better and lays down a little more evenly. (There's your free advice that is worth what you paid for it.) Great video! Keep them coming.

Hi, thats a good paint job ,,you did good ,,,be proud 👏 Overall the bike looks good,, you don't want a show bike, you want a bike you can ride ,,,that's what you got,,,

Thank you very much! I'm very happy with the results especially considering this is my first time trying a 'serious' paint job. I always like to add a unique touch too so im glad the stripe design worked out.

Yeah really good for your first paint job, actually using candy is not easy, respect to you , you already learnt about taking more care in the preparation, also repairing the side panels is a task in itself, Sit back ,,look at the bike and enjoy the moment ❤

Thank you very much! I have never seen 2Stroke Stuffing before so I looked him up... wow haha you're totally right. It was 12 degrees in Tennessee while I was filming so I had to wear my hunting coveralls. From the sound of his accent, I bet it gets cold there too.

The tank looks good, I would have put a bondo skin coat on the whole tank, but hey it looks great, and the mesh filled the louvered hole nicely.

A few things: 1.) I thought for a second that you were Rickrolling us at 11:50 😂 B.) Bill's has hats?? And sweet Alien hoodie!! I NEED! 🤖.) I didn't realize you designed all those tank designs! But I'm not surprised; you are so talented. 8.) If you need a Bondo maid, please call. I wanna play! 🤠.) Dude, that candy gold looks SO GOOD. You did great with all the prep work, too. Details I wouldn't have necessarily thought of.

When you are finished painting the side covers it's a good idea to grease the pins and grommets for the side covers so help removal later on ... Just a suggestion .. Very impressive paint job . You should be very proud of what you accomplished ... If the side covers badges are left and right you might want the wing facing the front of the bike . Just my opinion ... One more thing about the paint . Custom painters paint there subjects black before the color coat . This will show any imperfections in the body work before color goes on . Of course a scuffing of the black is required after you are satisfied with the body / bondo work ... Just a suggestion . ..

Thank you so much for the advice! I noticed the badges were backwards only after reviewing my footage. I didn’t even think about it. I’m glad to hear you approve of the new paint job!
@MrAmartin88 ай бұрын
I guess I should gave a little more details about the black paint first . After the paint sets up use a fine scotch brite and dull down the paint . If there are any low spots in the body work it will show up as a shinny spot in the black paint . @@LadyMotoBang

Don't worry about making "mistakes", that is how we learn 👍. I think the paint turned out sweeeeeeet, and once cured and then a polish it will really pop 😎. Just one thing has my OCD going into overdrive, the side panel badges, are they handed? If so the HONDA wing should be facing towards the direction of travel, other than that, fantastic job.😁
@LadyMotoBang8 ай бұрын
Yes the badges ended up on there backwards. I’ve switched them to the proper sides now but oh man you’re not the first to let me know 😂 I only noticed as I was going through my footage 🤦🏻♀️ Thank you for the compliments on the paint job! I’m very happy with the results.
@abruptlyblunt8 ай бұрын
a couple recommendations if you do this again, glue pull the dents before you strip the old paint off, i like to use bondo glass instead of straight bondo, it's a lot stronger and lastly seal the surfaces especially the plastic side covers with sealer or epoxy primer before you paint. glad to see you used 2k clear and you didn't try to use a plastic welder to put the screen in, that could have been disastrous with side covers, they are to thin...good job.....

Hey Ashton, great job…it looks heaps better than when you started. I’m thinking about painting my bike back to its original colour…I think the gold looks great. Please tell me that the clear coat is 2k otherwise you’ll have issues if you spill any petrol (gas) on it….oh and one minor detail…the badge is on the wrong side…the wing should point away from the front…if that makes sense…oddly enough my bike has 2 right side badges, so my badge on the left is oriented the same as yours 😊
@LadyMotoBang8 ай бұрын
I noticed that badge detail as I was editing haha. I'll have to swap them. Yes I went with a 2K clear coat. I really like the gold too even though I wasn't a fan of it at first. I'm glad everyone thinks I'm improving this cb175 (there are a lot of folks out there that can't stand it if a bike isn't completely original).
@brianhull51258 ай бұрын
My bike has a custom paint job but I think the gold looks really good and I’m tempted to put it back to its proper colour and your fresh gold paintwork has definitely inspired me. You’re definitely making the bike look nice. The purists are a pain…you just have to ignore them…can you remember how it looked when you first got it…it’s looking pretty sweet in comparison 👌🏼

I went to the Colorite website and had trouble navigating honda colors. What is the exact description code and color of the gold you used? The only candy gold I saw was the Honda Y2C candy gold.
@LadyMotoBang8 ай бұрын
Yep that's the one I used. I read that honda changed the paint codes quite a bit but the guys in the honda forums seemed to agree that the Y2C with the 1075 basecoat was the way to go.

@LadyMotoBang8 ай бұрын
Hello! I got into biking in 2018 when I officially got my first bike, a 1963 CL72. My interest started in 2012 when I saw someone riding an old japanese bike in town and I thought it looked so cool!. I never cared for cruisers or sportbikes but when I saw that 70s bike, I fell in love! PS. I took a trip to Scotland when I was 18 years old and it was so beautiful! Very friendly folks!
