I’m not pregnant but I’ve got a massive fear of vomiting and always have. I grew up with a sister who dealt with eating disorders and a mother that doesn’t take sickness very seriously so I’ve always felt insane for fearing it so much. It’s so relieving to hear about people who are so afraid of it for a change

I can’t even begin to verbalize how much it means to me that you talked about emetophobia. Just like you around 15 and 16 this intense fear of pregnancy and vomit popped up and still scares me to this day. As someone who wasn’t going to have kids because of all of this it means to much to me that you were able to get through it even if you didn’t get sick. Emetophobia is really not talked about in a lot of ways and having such a influential person that I look up to talk about it makes me so so so happy and honestly relieved that I’m not alone

I am emetophobic, I've had three pregnancies and haven't been sick once 😌 I haven't been sick in around 13 years even when I've had food poisoning or bugs I've been fine. Emetophobia is so very limiting and there isn't enough awareness out there so thank you for this video.

I have Emetophobia too! Not only a fear of myself being sick but anyone around me too, which terrifies me for when I have a child, how will I cope when the child is sick? It’s really nice to see someone else with the same phobia, and I look forward to following your journey with it ❤️

wanted to add another positive story for those afraid, i’m 3 weeks out of my first trimester now and didn’t have an ounce of sickness or nausea! it IS possible to go through pregnancy without sickness, it’s just that the ones riddled with sickness that get more attention/press/depicted in films etc. you’ll be okay💗

I have emetophobia. When I get nauseous I start stressing about it and feel even more sick from anxiety and get more anxious and so on to the point of just sitting still and not being able to move because I feel like even a little movement will make it worse - it's a horrifying vicious circle. I spoke with my therapist about it and her advice was to do breathing exercises and grounding meditation. It actually helped me in the moment of feeling nauseous to the point of stopping the nausea. I recommend trying it =) It's nice to know there's someone among the youtubers I watch who has the same obscure fear of vomiting as me, lol.

I have emetophobia and am now 16 weeks pregnant! I’m one of those people who had terrible nausea but never actually got sick in the first trimester. For me it was knowing mentally that I wasn’t actually sick and that I didn’t need to be sick to feel better, it was just the way my body was reacting to my hormones that I think ultimately kept me from being sick. Like mentally I didn’t go there as a possibility. But anytime my nausea would get bad my heart rate would skyrocket as if I were having a panic attack as just my body’s anxiety response to that feeling. Very very odd and I’m glad it’s over now!

I suffer from Emetophobia and I've been through two pregnancies. With my daughter I never had any signs of morning sickness and it really helped me relax. With my son I felt so sick from week 7 to 14. I was really scared that I would be sick but I wasn't. I knew what made me worse and better. It's tough but so worth it 😍

Loved this so very much 🥰 especially the last bit with Alfie ☺️ my husband would agree 😂😂 and I‘ve had two babies, girl and boy, and I‘ve not been sick once in my pregnancies even if I had the worst migraines of my life in one of the pregnancies 🙈 everything is possible, you will be okay and so will your baby... and you only get given what you can handle and grow from that - at least that’s what I believe in 🥰🙌🏼

I had my son last October and I had a pretty rough first trimester. I have a slight fear of vomit and I did have HG. I was in and out of the hospital and lost 25 lbs in the first trimester. it was the most difficult thing I have ever been through. To any other women going through HG you’re not alone. I promise you will get through it and it is so rewarding to hold your baby at the end. Sending love to all the mamas 💕

I have emetephobia but only in regards to others, I don’t mind when I’m sick myself. It’s been so hard since having a child. She’s had 3 stomach virus’ so far which has been extremely hard. I’m constantly worried about her eating too much and becoming sick, her getting car sick, if she toses and turns during the night I’m worried that means she’ll be sick. I can’t even take her to an indoor play centre as I know they are riddled with germs and that’s where she got her first stomach virus from. I’m anxious to send her to daycare in fear of the germs there. I can’t go to hospitals or out of a weekend in fear that others will be sick. I can’t go on public transport without having an anxiety attack. It’s so extreme and debilitating and I feel that people just don’t understand. It’s great to here from a public figure experiencing the same thing

My baby is 4 months old but I can attest that the first trimester was my hardest. I was sick (all the way) every day and all day for the first 12 weeks and lost 20lbs because of it (not good!) I made it through and enjoyed the reminder of my experience so it was completely worth it. Even if you do have a terrible 1st trimester there is hope for the following months. I hope that is helpful for anyone needing a bit more of reassurance.

Love that you included Alfie’s thoughts and feelings! The non pregnant partner so often gets overlooked x

Thank you so much for making this video, I have emetophobia and I absolutely hate it, I'm so scared for the future, I don't like going outside and being with other people even if they aren't ill, and knowing that all pregnancies aren't like that is really encouraging. I've struggled with it since for at least 7 years and I've been told all my life to get over it because it can't be avoided and I know that it's always gonna be there but it's still terrifying. I don't have any kids yet and it's something that has always scared me, the actual pregnancy part of it, so yeah ig that knowing it all isn't like that is very reassuring. I hate living with it, when people have been sick around me, I can barely function, I just cry and this sounds really silly but I open all the windows, I stick headphones in and blast music and try to breathe less cleanly, and it sounds so stupid but it's taken over my life and idk what to do about it, in my mind I can't really think of a life where this isn't a problem for me, I just don't think I'll ever get over it. The lockdown for me actually has been really positive because everyone's starting to become more aware of hygiene and just simple things like hand sanitiser after touching stuff are really reassuring. This is a really long comment aha and I doubt anyone will read it but writing this down is still quite nice for me and my mind. My anxiety gets really high and I end up having panic attacks and anxiety attacks and I cry and cry and can't breathe and its horrible. And then I'm getting shouted at to shut up and stop complaining, at this point for me it's not a phobia, it's just my life now. Everywhere I go I'm constantly conscious of what I touch, where I go, who I meet, and this has also made me have ocd and i excessively clean everything, even stuff that's everyday use, I will wash my hands after touching pretty much everything, wahs them at least twice before eating incase there's any germs that will cause a stomach bug, I hate eating meat incase its not cooked properly and when it's slightly pink (even if its cooked) I will have an anxiety attack and I hate it because I wish i could just live without all of this stopping me from doing simple tasks. I guess my brain could be messing with me and making me see it as pink but it enfuriates me and other people too, but i just can't get it out of my life, which ig is why I'm so cautious about pregnancy and everything about it and after it.

Oh my god yes. I've been watching you for years and years and I always was looking forward to this because I have severe emetophobia and would love to be a mother. Now that I'm 27 and I'm considering starting a family this is so helpful.

I am about 6 weeks behind you in my pregnancy with my first and can totally relate to so much of what you said! I am finally feeling myself again and it’s wonderful! I think the best way I can describe it is that pregnancy just feels like your body is not your own! Excited to watch you on your journey to motherhood and all that comes with it! Hoping our births our everything we want them to be 😊
