Mrs. Singh please don't take offense but, the prices are per pound, and no food stuff is not cheap. Fruits that are imported to Guyana will be more expensive rightfully so. Here in the US every thing is about sanitization, meaning the fruits, veggies, and meat are highly processed and sprayed with chemicals. For instance, if you grow your own strawberries or any fruits the birds will eat it but, the ones grown on acres of farm land they won't because of the chemicals. Any type of meat will contain hormones and antibiotics and fed pesticide-rich grains. The pineapples in Guyana are sweeter along with other fruits. Ours are tasteless. Range free and cage free is a marketing gimmick range free hens have outdoor access while cage free don't and prices varies. Wild caught seafood is better than farm raised. Guyana has far more better tasting fruits, veggies, seafood and meat but, few appreciates it. Anyway happy to see you are liking Ocala so far.

You are correct in pointing out some of the price comparisons because I sometimes wonder how poor people are making ends meet with such high prices in Guyana.
