Hi Cynthia! I'm in my third month with CF in the UX Design program. I agree with you that Slack isn't very helpful for the program. You have been assigned both a tutor and a mentor. The tutor is very helpful with assignments and the mentor is more for career advice and to help with your portfolio. I would recommend reaching out to your tutor if you have any assignment specific questions. I am completely new to the industry and felt lost when I began the program. However, now I am getting the hang of everything and CF does a great job with the modules that they created. There is a section at the bottom of every module that has additional resources and I highly recommend checking those out. I have found great value in the additional resources. You're video was great, and I think as you continue with the program you will provide great value to your viewers. Good luck with everything!

Hi Jerry! It’s nice to meet you! I’m now in my 2nd month/UX immersion part of the bootcamp and have learned a lot about CF and UX since this video. Like you said, the additional readings they provide are very resourceful. I actually just posted an updated video and getting in touch with my mentor has been a lot easier. Feel free to reach out through the CF if you would like. I really enjoy getting to meet others in the program.

Hi, Cynthia! Thank you for your video! I started CF UX design two weeks ago, I feel ya! It's a bummer your mentor is not from here, mine is from the east coast and times are working a bit better! Are you in San Francisco area? I love the course so far, m glad you're happy with it too! P.s. I also don't feel like Slack is too helpful, but I'm hoping to get more familiar with it and get more use out of it!

Hi Anastasia! Congrats on making the decision to pursue UX Design. This video was before I spoke with my mentor, I later learned she’s in the east coast, and schedules are working a bit better now, I also feel like she’s a good match for me. I’m in Silicon Valley area. Where are you located? If you like we can connect on LinkedIn or IG?

Hi! I will be starting the program as well. May I ask how did you find a small group to connect with in your area? I'm in the DFW, Texas metro. Many thanks and good luck! PS my name is Cynthia too haha!!

Hi Cynthia! I’m so excited for you to start CF, I’m loving the experience. One of the existing students who had formed a local group reached out to me. I also actively use slack to do a search for key words like “Silicon Valley” and “SF” or names of local cities and connect that way. Good luck to you! Hope to hear more from you.

Hey Cynthia! Your videos are really helping me stay aware about this UX stuff, But I am confused which platform to choose with in learning about UX designing courses, with general assembly and careerfoundry. Could you please reply with which is good to start with? Really appreciated 🙂
@CynVal3 жыл бұрын
Hi Akhil, thanks for watching my videos. I can tell you that CF has been great for me personally, a big part is because I was looking for a program that allowed me to keep my day job. And I don’t know what the actual program at General Assembly is like, so I can just recommend that you make a list of what you would like to get out of the program you enroll in, have a set a questions, and speak with one of their representatives. Good luck!

Is it all text based or are the lessons video based? I’m more of a visual learner.
@CynVal2 жыл бұрын
It’s short readings with some videos, more than anything it’s hands-on learning, as you get to work on your own project.
@czkzgirl4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for sharing your first impression with them. I was considering CF at first, but for me personally it seems like they accept everyone and give certification to anyone. I also checked DesignLab, have you considered them? If yes, then what was the reason you decided to go with CF? Thank you a lot!
@CynVal4 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! The bootcamps I reviewed were CF, General Assembly, and a program through UC Berkeley. I didn’t ask if there were any prerequisites to be accepted into the program, so either there aren’t or I met them haha. I didn’t check out Design Lab, so don’t have any comments on them. As mentioned in my video the primary reasons I chose CF were: schedule flexibility, career mentor, and it’s a 10 month course vs others that were as a little as 6-13weeks. Good luck on your search! ☺️

Hi Cynthia. Great video. 🤗🤗🤗 Is it necessary to use FIgma exclusively during the program or are students allowed to design on other apps such as Adobe XD?

Hey I just wanted to ask you what are your plans after graduation. do you want to freelance, start a agency or build a business?
@CynVal3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Great question, as a starting point my goal is to find a job in FinTech. However, if the pay is too low for entry level UX, I will consider doing freelance to build some experience while continuing to work at my current job. Long term goals- possibly build my own business. 😊

@@CynVal that's awesome! and I'm doing the same just a different path. I'm self taught learn front end development (html, css, js, ect...) and backend development (php, composer, nodejs, mysql, lavravel, etc...) my goal is to operate my own web development company and work on making my first million. covid really put a lot of movement on hold so keep that in mind when your trying to network
