Aww thank you for this vid Margot. I've just moved to London and I felt it was anticlimactic compared to what I imagined, I'm in my flat and I've done it and lifes just moving along? I expected this perfect clean slate and endless energy to curate my habits and rituals and community...but I'm reminded that these things take time to build! Currently practicing patience and trust that my life will blossom here... just not all at once! ❤ I hope to run into u in town xx

After I graduated in 2022 I moved to thailand for a year and a half to teach kids english and at first I also felt exactly how u felt. And although everything was new: my environment, people, the places I went to, it still also felt completely normal somehow. life was just continuing and still the same in some way. After awhile it’s YOU who learns, grows, and changes with time and new experiences. Every experience is a lesson and gives you perspective. Happy for you and this move! I’ve been a subscriber since you were in high school :,)

My dream is to move to London and the mundaneness of the idea that life just continues when you move abroad is so comforting to know that it’s scary to uproot your life and move to a completely new place.

I feel like new York was a beautiful chapter to witness, been following you since college then over covid! But it feels and looks like since youre american that new york kind of became exhausting or draining? It feels like london has some new fresh air to breathe for you and as if some new light comes through !!! Excited to see the new chapter! Feels refreshing already❤ i remember your first ny apt and your closet you had so much joy dressing and picking your outfits from that closet!!!!! I feel like i missed this over the second apt, it got lost when you attended more fashion shows ! Just something i noticed, never lose your own joy over the big events. The own style is always the best All the best 🎉

One thing you should definitely plan on doing is explore more of uk and europe! Im living in Germany and i asked myself why i never truly took the time to find acceptable affordable ways to explore more since there are good options to come around europe, if you find the time. 🙏🏼

Ah this video felt so full circle for me! This time last year I moved to Paris to be an au pair, having never even been to France before and knowing no one there. I cried saying bye to my parents at the airport and as the plane took off I remember looking out the window and shedding a single tear. I felt so silly but also so cinematic because I knew a completely new chapter of my life was starting that I had been so excited for yet was also full of so many unknowns for me! 8 months later I cried in my taxi to CDG having just said goodbye to my host family! All of this to say I really resonate with this video and am so excited for this new chapter of yours and look forward to the London content!

I completely understand the not feeling like a big change is as “monumental” as you thought-I moved from LA to Paris like 8 months ago and had that same “life is just continuing” feeling. So much change and so much newness but somehow not as crazy feeling as I thought?? In some scenarios it’s kinda sad that it doesn’t feel as exciting, but it’s kind of comforting for the anxiety ridden decisions lol, it’s never as monumental as it seems!

I hear ya in terms of the expectations around "new" things. I've previously found myself underwhelmed by experiences that i thought would carry more weight in some ways, or deliver a momentous shift in emotion. Then felt so disappointed when those experiences did not deliver. I now see this happens because partly, I have this perfectionist and somewhat idealist expectation around life and its events.

I just moved from NY to Florida..long distance relationship for 3 years and it was time to live together which is super exciting! I’m 7 weeks in and it still feels like I’m visiting even though all my things are here, I’m in a routine, and I’m working etc. I recognize it as “new” but it also feels just like a continuation of my path thus far since I’m very much same person no matter where my address is.

I’ve moved, around 2 years ago, to what is now my life. And I have to say I also didn’t feel like it was such a groundbreaking experience 😅 everyone kept mentioning how big of a step it was, and how brave I was for doing such a 180 on my own. But honestly? It felt completely normal. Now it feels like this was always how it was. I need to constantly remind myself how it was before so that I can remember and feel how big of a step it was. Not sure this makes sense 😅

What’s the reason you decided not to move in/stay at your bf’s place considering you moved there short term only?
@afloridagalabroad8 күн бұрын
When I first moved here, I had to quarantine even though the lock downs had lifted. So it didn't feel "new" for a while. I had started my postgraduate studies and then they went back into lockdown so I didn't really feel like a new chapter till maybe a whole year after I moved.

I loved the video but it’s funny because I live in London and I want to move to NYC 😅 But I understand your love is here so it makes sense otherwise I wouldn’t recommend the UK these days. It’s so bad economically and even crime wise, and people are miserable and depressed, the weather obviously. But you have more money than me so you can enjoy it more, I couldn’t afford such a nice modern flat. It’s easier to enjoy a place if you have the money. But either way I’d choose NYC 😅 Havjng said that, coming from the US it will be good for you to explore, it’s a very multicultural city and you’ll learn a lot. Also, Montmartre the first T is silent *Monmart* ❤
