First off, fantastic that you are on KZbin Harry! I genuinely enjoy your commentary and I hope to see more videos! That said, I feel incredibly blessed to come from an era (born in 89) where TV and Media and the personalities were often times a big mystery. Nowadays it is so cool to actually get a perspective where personalities such as yourself are open and free to talk about fascinating jobs like yours. If possible, If you are going to do more commentary days, I would absolutely love for you to do a vlog about what it’s like to cover a race weekend!

My girlfriend’s suggestions are similar to the Kym Illman’s vlogs where they’re popular because they give a great insight into a lot of behind the scenes stuff, obviously you’d have a different perspective being a commentator and I’m sure it would be a ton of work, but she thinks people would enjoy that type of content, and also (this might be because we’re about to have dinner) that you could do a bit about the local area in terms of cuisine and stuff like that. I guess it ends up being a travel vlog to a point, but that’s something no other commentators out there are really doing to my knowledge. Also she wanted me to add that she enjoyed your humour 😄

I think future videos it would be great to see behind the scenes from your perspective on race weekends - like how early do you get to the track, what kind of hotels do you put in, what happens after the race for you, etc. Maybe you could do your own top 3 merit marks for best race performers? Great first video. Would love one on a typical Grand Prix weekend for a commentator. For example, the likes of Simon Lazenby and whoever the Sky pundits are for a given weekend have to attend lots of meetings, either in the UK, on location or dialling in remotely to things back in the UK. Do you have to do all that too as a commentator? Do you get time to watch the support races live, or do you have to save those to watch back?

Hello Harry - I was big into syncing 5 Live to my TV, but after Jack "left" I couldn't handle the unfamiliarity (I loved Jack) and just went back to watching TV without the radio. Your Sky appearances have convinced me to give 5 Live another crack into 2025! Please, please stay true to yourself and your style, I cannot stand how Croft (and increasingly Jacques) continue to raise the volume and shrieking!!! Ok. If I knew it was going to be short I’d have stuck around! Good start. Just do a chat about the weekend you’ve just worked. Your perspective will be pretty unique. Don’t get sucked into the bright lights of TV, you’re perfect for the banter of radio (although to be fair Sky do allow a fair amount of it). We tune into free practice, so it must be good stuff! One critique from your first season… be more consistent with the time checks so we can sync with the TV!
