Hi, I love your van install. I have a top tip for you. I have a sailing yacht with a similar electrical setup, however instead of the isolator switch I have a solenoid (basically a beefy relay) which is actuated automatically by the ignition on my engine. Engine starts, solenoid opens, domestic battery charges. Engine stops, solenoid shuts, engine battery is isolated. There is also a push butt to force the solenoid open which allows me to jump start the engine off the domestic battery. It’s simple and it works. You can pick up a Lucas universal solenoid fairly cheap and is more or less a straight swap for your isolator if you can run a cable from the ignition coil to activate it. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing the video.

Might I suggest leaving that small sink as your bathroom sink for hand/face washing and teeth brushing, and get a collapsible washbasin with drain to set on top (straddling it) for dish washing, etc. A collapsible collander is great for washing fruits and veggies, too. It's an easy way to separate kitchen and bathroom activities and helps to prevent cross-contamination..

Brilliant work! We did a backpacking trip round Scandinavia over three weeks when we were about your age. By public transport. No mobiles or internet! Just maps & Lonely Planet guide and staying in huts and youth hostels. We did it in June and no midgies! But I reckon in a campervan, you could do the fjords in a week from Oslo. Reflecting our journey. Oslo to Bergen Bergen to Balestrand (Veganeset Camping) Balestrand to Stryn Stryn to Geiranger Geiranger to Andalsnes(via Troll Highway) Andalsnes to Trondheim Trondheim to Oslo. The only problem is getting to & from Oslo from UK which would be a few days drive from Calais but you would drive over some spectacular bridges in Denmark and between Denmark & Sweden. We had the advantage that we were living in Denmark at the time. Big budget, not cheap (but we avoided alcohol), but probably our most epic trip and the roads/facilities are top notch!

How do you find using the van around towns and getting parked? Is it easy enough or with it being a big vehicle do you struggle

Never had any problems. The only thing is the height on barriers into some car parks
@Nick_609 ай бұрын
Hi, great video! Probably going to use this as inspiration when building my own one. One question, is there any reason why you have it look this stealth from the outside? Not that I don’t like it, just wondering whether it is because of preference or any other reason. In Germany for instance, it is not allowed to just park and sleep on any parking spot (technically, assuming someone cared). So having your van look stealthy maybe an advantage because from the outside you might not expect someone sleeping in there. Thanks :)
@Nick_609 ай бұрын
OK, I just saw you do stealth camping videos when checking out your channel so that might have answered my question 😅

Beautiful van! But I recommend you put the CO alarm close to the floor, CO is heavier than air, and will fill up the space from the bottom up, so it being that high, it wouldn't trigger until the whole space is filled! So please be safe!
@user-se3gi3xf6g9 ай бұрын
That is complete nonsense! Carbon monoxide alarm Should be placed high up nearer to the ceiling I am a hetas and gas engineer and we have to install carbon monoxide alarms within 5 inches of the ceiling by law as it will rise to the top first then slowly make its way down.
@thepracticalsurveyor4 ай бұрын
Agree. Total bollocks @drivitt You should place a detector at high level. The specific gravity of Carbon Monoxide is 0.9657 (with normal air being 1.0), this means that it will float up towards the ceiling because it is lighter than regular air.
@drivitt4 ай бұрын
@@thepracticalsurveyor Sorry, yes I must have gotten mixed up when I posted this (two years ago...). Probably thinking of a detector that I was familiar with at the time, that detected propane, CO and smoke, which was recommended to put low (because of the propane). CO alarms should be placed higher than your head is at while you're sleeping. My bad.
