I’ve been following your 4.6L V8 DOHC build with lots of enthusiasm. I’m the proud original owner of a 1998 SVT Cobra droptop in Laser Red with Saddle colored Top and interior. I purchased it new in June 1998 from a local Ford Dealer. Love the car, and like you I prefer doing all my own work except welding. Which I leave to professionals. Anyway I like your attitude and attention to detail! So thanks for sharing and best of luck with your various projects.

For parts cleaning the best way I found out to clean is using Zep industrial purple degreaser from home depot. use a plastic tote pour half gal of degreaser add water and let the parts soak. Check them every 10 min to make sure the degreaser does not stain or burn the aluminum if your planning on polishing the aluminum.

In the future for the raised letters, when you are painting them keep a tourch nearby and once the paint it on just graze it with the flame. It'll pull the bubbles out. Same with the clear coat. Don't super heat it just graze by to pull the air bubbles to the top.

Chris, I enjoy your videos. You mentioned about water intrusion from your truck’s clearance lights. If you’re still getting water intrusion double check the sunroof’s water drain tubes as well. They are easy to clean out with long bottle brush cleaners and some light air pressure, but be careful to not perforate the soft rubber drain tubes. I had 😢 water intrusion on my ‘17 Ford Explorer which had four clogs. You can verify a clog by using some bottled water, pour a little bit and it should disappear. If not, you have a drain clog. You don’t have to go too deep and you’ll need a flashlight. Assuming Ford is consistent in their manufacturing there should be drains for each A-pillar and B-pillar. You can look it up on how Ford recommends how to do it. Keep up the great work!

Great progress and looking awesome. If I could offer any tip for the first fire Chris it would be prime the engine with oil without relying on cranking the pump. A $10 lawn sprayer with oil tapped into the oil pressure sensor or similar port does real well. The front mounted gear rotor pump isn’t as easy as a drill in the dizzy hole like back in the days, but really is essential for longevity purposes. Now is a perfect time while on the engine stand. Works best to rotate the crank so all internals move while doing so and be careful to clamp the sprayer hose good to prevent from blowing off. Just some info to share. Looking forward to the blower cleanup!
@ChrisSullivan6911 ай бұрын
Great tip! I've done that in the past with LS motors, but lately I've just pulled all the plugs, unplugged fuel injectors and cranked the motor over by the starter to build oil pressure. Once it has pressure I go ahead and hook up fuel system and fire it up 🤙

My brother and I rebuilt his 4.6 3V and discovered it had jumped timing on the first startup attempt because we left the plugs in.
