You win the internet brilliance today! Love your ideas! Yes, it does look like you have it figured out! I’ve been using baseball card plastic sleeve thingies for my unmounted rubber stamps for years. And they fit into normal full size 3-ring binders. Looks like I will have a new purpose for some sleeves I haven’t used for stamps. I don’t have anywhere NEAR as many inks as you, but, I’m working on it! I love color and variety. And the double swatching on white and cream paper is a must! Brilliant. Thank you! 🖋🙋‍♀️❤️👏👏👏🎨👍

That is an extremely valid point that inks look & feel different in a block of writing. I get exasperated with KZbin fixating on making pretty blotches and splotches, fancy dip nibs etc. but not showing how the ink looks in actual nibs. Love your explorations. TFS!

Totally agree with you. I love seeing the beautiful colour of the swatches. Makes my heart go pitter patter to see all that colour BUT, to choose ink for my pens, the way it shows up in a block of writing is the only criteria for purchasing a new ink for me. The diff between a large blob and the actual writing is major. Seeing a sheen in a swatch doesn’t necessarily translate to writing single lines that’s make up each letter. Thanks My Desk for the idea of cataloguing both pen and the inks in them AND inks in pens separately.

I use a three-ring binder with the sport card sleeves. Works great for the swatch cards. I keep a journal with a page for each pen and what ink was used. I note how the combo works. And to top it off, I have another journal for inks. Both journal use different paper so I can see how the inks react to different paper. Great video and good ideas.

Really great ideas here! I really love those Kokuyo card storage pocket holders!!! Just for side by side comparisons even!!! My 3x3" tile swatches (500+) are kind of a pain because no matter how careful I file them I still lose track of some of them & have to redo them! I'm always hunting for better ideas for ink files lol. Thank you this video was fun and helpful! I'm much too lazy for most things but I'm getting some of those Kokuyo holders!!! I've got all my inks on Col-o-ring cards! 🙂

I have a bunch of those sleeves too! I like that they fit the longer col-o-ring cards. I use the baseball sheets for the shorter card-size ink swatches. I used to have a separate page for each pen - to show what it was inked with, and how it looked. Mine included the date it was inked and when it was cleaned out. Then I got out of the habit and stopped. I wish I would have kept it up.

@@rc17268 I like the separate sheets - 9-up - so I came rearrange the pages. My Col-o-ring cards are not sorted in the Kokuyo Novita Alpha Card Files. 😊

Thanks for sharing this journey. It sounds like we’ve watched some of the same videos. And I’ve done some of these things, but was about to do more. UGH I think you’ve saved me some grief. I have a book of swatches on Tomoe River A6 size with 6 swatches on each page with a line of writing / doodles organized by ink manufacturer. It’s helpful in comparing colors if you put the swatch on the right side of the page. The thing it doesn’t have is the pen log. I have a separate book for that. I got my log pages from Cloth and Paper, but there isn’t enough space for ink changes. I almost need to cut the pages up to paste one log entry at the top of each page of Tomoe River paper to make the list of ink changes. Of course TR is changing. That’s a lot of work for something that’s going to be obsolete in a few years. 😢 Maybe Clairefontaine would be a better next step for that. I’ve definitely seen how inks and pen nib sizes change with paper types. Thanks again!

@@rc17268 Thanks for watching! Yes, I love the pens, nibs, inks, and paper explorations. I too, am revamping my ink swatch and pen inventory methods. Recently I discovered the beauty of my Sailor Manyo HaHa ink. After I had changed nibs several times on the Kaweco Iridescent Pearl, my matchy-matchy pen, to a broader nib, I found the perfect ink/pen combo with my new HongDian White Feather EF nib. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Enjoying the journey! 🖋️♥️

I love your swatch books and lol’d when you said that you ordered a crap ton of samples from Vanness and referred to the baby food vomit colour 😂 Thank you also for sharing about the two page spread. I have been doing morning pages with a different pen and ink combination each day and agree that a swatch can lie. I love, love, love your idea of dedicating a page to each pen and doing a writing sample of it with different inks!! I’m starting that today!

This is fantastic, and it gave me a bunch of good ideas. I have sort of struggled with some pen and ink experiences - I'll get a pen, and ink it up, and hate the experience and now I don't know if that's the ink or the pen or both or just the combination. So now I have some really good ideas about how to track some of this to better figure out what works for me and what doesn't. Thankyou for sharing your method!

This is one of the best/most helpful videos I‘ve seen lately. I‘m thanking you with a channel subscription 😊. I‘ve yet to do my swatches, so I‘m really grateful for the inspiration. I found the same size card holders on aliexpress, with different sized options - 10, 9, 8, 6, etc. pockets per page. 10 sheets for around 6,50€. If anyone wants a link, let me know. I was going to post it, but it’s like half a page long, lol.
