Hei! I really like to hear about peoples fragrance journey, especially if they are at my age and have been fragrheads for many years. You pointed out some things that make me sad about the fragcom here on YT, that a lot of channels seem to be doing commercials for the big perfumehouses, or maybe not even for big houses, but you know what I mean. If you always get sent stuff, how do you manage to be honest and make up an opinion that is not coloured by your attachment to the perfumehouse? I am really missing people like Katie Pucrick you made decent and honest and really funny rewievs!

I know I feel like I'm listening to a commercial half the time and they all have the same collections I'm like I know certain houses give bottles away for advertising so they are all talking about the same stuff! It's annoying! I miss Katie Puckrik too she was so funny and informative with just the right amount of production.

Wendi, I agree with everything you said. I love old school perfumes, too, and Guerlain is undoubtedly my favourite house and always will be. I also love Amouage, Chanel, and Piguet. I feel about L'Heure Bleue the way you do about Samsara. 😄 A few of my favourite notes: Jasmine, Amber, Civet, Castoreum, Hay, Tobacco, Ylang-Ylang, Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Gardenia, Hyacinth, Heliotrope, Violet, Vanilla, Myrrh, Sandalwood, Cedar, Tonka, Dark Chocolate, Cacao, Lily, Ivy, Spices, Ambergris, Benzoin, Styrax, and honey. Thom (Ouch110) and you are the only two reviewers I actively look for on KZbin. What you wear and how you do your hair have nothing to do with anything, kid. Keep doing your reviews. 💖

I love Amouage and Chanel too they are a close second! Thank you for sharing your note favorites there are just so many to love that's why I have so many perfumes!!! There's always more isn't there🤣 L'Heure Bleue is so special and almost too incredible to wear I'm transported every time I wear it. Something about those old ones for sure. And thank you for the encouragement, I appreciate that. Some days I feel like a schlub!!

I enjoyed this video Wendi. I don't enjoy fabricated perfumes vlogs. Fragrance is a part of my daily routine. Even the choice to not wear any scent to bed is a part of my fragrance journey. I started choosing and wearing fragrance as a teen. I would walk 7 miles from school to home to save up for a bottle of Oscar de la Renta Volupte or Fire and Ice. Then my 1st Love was the OG Samsara Edp in the red bottle. Had my 1st job by then. So its hard for me to appreciate over commercialised vlogs. Getting some perk is fine but when your entire presence is scripted you lost me.

I do support getting back ups, but aren't you afraid your back ups will go bad by the time you wear them?
@wendisparadeofperfumes5034
@wendisparadeofperfumes5034 Жыл бұрын
That is certainly a possibility, but at least in the case of Samsara Sandalwood oil never goes bad. So that scent will keep. I've had perfumes go bad on me but it's very rare. I'm not too worried about it:)

I was reading recently that Lancome reformulated Magie Noire for the better. I always try to buy 1-2 perfumes for myself around Christmas, and this year I ordered Magie Noire. I hope I will not be disappointed as I was with Tresor. Poeme smells divine, though.

I will let you know. I hope I love it. I absolutely adore Poeme. If Poeme's notes appeal to you, I think you will be love it once you actually smell it. It is a bit sweet, but it is not candy sweet. It smells expensive and quite elegant in my opinion. I bought it blind, as I do most of my fragrances, and I consider it one of my best blind buys ever. Gorgeous!@@wendisparadeofperfumes5034

Well, my bottle of Magie Noire arrived. I am not disappointed in performance. Projection and sillage are good, and longevity is excellent---12+ hours easily, although it does become a skin scent after about 4-5 hours, but it is still noticeable up close even as a skin scent. However, it does not smell anything like the vintage sample I had. Compared to the vintage, it is rather thin, and it does not have that rich, deep, gorgeous, vintage style. In fact, it does not smell at all like my vintage sample, so I would conclude it must be reformulated beyond recognition just like Tresor which I also found deeply disappointing. Poeme is the only Lancome fragrance (current formulations) that seriously impressed me. I never want to be without Poeme in my collection, but this bottle of Magie Noire is going back. I may some day seek out a vintage bottle if I happen upon a good price, but I refuse to pay the prices I have seen on eBay, et al. I am very disappointed. This is not to say that Magie Noire is not a decent smelling fragrance. Anyone who particularly loves chypres would probably find it happily wearable, but I would never guess the perfume's name might be "Magie Noire," i.e. Black Magic. There is nothing dark or magical about it. It does not smell expensive either. Whilst performance is good, the fragrance itself seems rather generic and unremarkable. Paloma Picasso smells so much better than this, so much deeper, richer, and expensive. Sad......@@wendisparadeofperfumes5034

Ouch 110 is superb! Always enjoy his uploads as I do yours. This was so fun to hear your background with perfumes. Paris Hilton seems to be openly reviled, yet secretly loved by serious fragheads. I’ll have to find some of her stuff. Mostly, I watch smaller perfume channels like yours, it feels like I’m winding down with a friend over a favourite subject ❤. Though, I won’t begrudge anyone if they want to make some cash off the time they put into making these videos. I don’t subscribe to the bigger perfume influencers and find myself choosing not to watch the ones lol subscribe to when I recognize they’re being pressured to sell based on whatever contract they have with perfume companies. Not because I’m upset they’re trying to make a living, but mainly because it gets boring, like those old infomercials about Ginsu knives, or Ron Popiel’s hair in a can, or home rotisserie chicken machine. Lol.

@@wendisparadeofperfumes5034 yes, you’re right. They do sound like one another when you know a particular house/perfume conglomerate is doing their rounds with the popular influencers. For instance, Amouage Guidance and Parfums de Marly’s Valaya seem to be high on the top lists all of the sudden. That’s just to name the most common brands but there are so, so many, as you already know. Anyways, love seeing you here, when you do upload. Hi Wendy, loved hearing about your fragrance journey.. I'm with you with oakmoss, sadly harder and harder to find fragrances with oakmoss. Have you tried the Oriza L Legrand: Chypre Mousse? the most oak moss forward fragrance I've smelt (even more than Rogue's Chypre Siam, which is also very nice)... I chuckled when you said perfume blogs are out, as I've just started a perfume blog 😂 (late to every party, that's me...). Thank you for being authentic, your love of perfume shine through!

Hi Wendi. Haven't commented for a while now but I still watch, enjoy and "like" all your vids. I climbed onboard your channel re: Hermes Caleche and I haven't stopped watching ever since! I love Thomas at Ouch110 - actually he's the one who turned me onto Samsara - and I can't believe you have 15 bottles of it - so jealous - as it is my holy grail perfume - so I've spent a lot on the vintages - especially as I only became a die hard perfume addict less than a year ago! But but but - I'm a good deal older than you so a lifetime supply of Samsara for me is a good deal less! Ha Ha! Listen - somewhere in your vids - I thought I saw that you enjoyed Jean Patou's Sublime - but I can't find it now. If I'm not a total mad woman, and it's true, let's talk Sublime below...otherwise thanks and keep on posting. I love love love your simplicity and authenticity! You're a girl after my own heart!

Thank you so much! And I'm glad to see another Samsara die hard like myself I admit I've hoarded all the vintage 😆😆😆. Lucky it's a strong perfume and only needs a few sprays. You are correct I've mentioned that I love JP Sublime and I'm wearing it today at your mention. I have vintage and the more current square bottles and I think both are wonderful. Maybe I should do a review? What is your impression?
@scp5577

Hi Wendi. So the vintage edp of Sublime are the curvy bottles and the newer version are the more square bottles? Thanks for clarifying that. Fragrantica is just so confusing sometimes. There are much higher ratings on Fragrantica - btw - for the square bottled edp of Sublime - is that how you feel? I know you said both are wonderful but I wonder if you prefer one over the other. Finally, I would absolutely love for you to do a review - maybe of Jean Patou in general - (I do enjoy Joy - don't know if you do) - or specifically focused on Sublime! Whatever your druthers...and thanks so much, Wendi...@@wendisparadeofperfumes5034

Hi Wendi. I love Clinique Aromatics Elixir too. I wore it a lot in the 70's, 80's and early 90's but then I move on to other things. Last year I bought a bottle of the newest formulation and I just couldn't handle the changes in the modern rendition, especially the dry down. I ended up returning it. I'd like to try to find a vintage bottle. Do you have any insights on what to look for as far as how far back I need to go, what distributer or country of origin. I've seen sellers note that the bottle they are selling is from Switzerland but I don't know what is relevant about that. I would so appreciate any knowledge you may have gained from your experience buying vintage AE. Thanks

Hey Yana! Okay so my older bottles have a gap in the sprayer vs being solid metal down to the bottom. Also AE mos def darkens with age. I've also read that the Made in USA bottles predate the drastic oakmoss restrictions. Also check the batch code on check cosmetics but I believe that they get repeated every few years. If you want an older bottle look for a used on ebay perhaps? Maybe a bottle that's been kept on a shelf for a long time. Also look for different boxes I have a really old bottle and the box is nothing like today. Also have you tried Aramis 900? That one is similar. I love AE and I hope this helps.
