My Freestanding Hammock Stand

My version of the Turtle Lady Hammock Stand I first saw on the Hammock Forum. The stand requires no land anchors and collapses down to be easily transported in my car.

Thinking of doing something similar up here. Not a lot of big trees in the North, so I thought of using two tripods to get back in my hammock. Did a quick KZbin search and you were the first to come up. Looks great! Take Care.

Nice job. I am experimenting with 1.25 inch pvc pipes.The tripods are strong, but the all important hang pole was too limber, because I slid a 1 in pipe inside the 1.25 inch pipe as a connecting extender. The 1 inch pipe bends. I need something stiff as a connector like you used. In my case, I need a 12 foot hang pole to accommodate a hennessey expedition. A lot of other hammock brands don't require a span this long.

Larry Vickery, You might slide a 1" wood dowel into the 1.25" pvc to decrease the flex.

Cheers Jimmy - have had someone about 18 stone in it. Pretty robust with the central army tent pole/sleeve connecting the two horizontal poles.
