Welcome to Onwards & Upwards. In this video, we will be summiting Kings Peak in British Columbia, Canada. I met Eden and Demetri during my time growing up on Vancouver Island, and we did this hike in the summer of 2021, starting the 8th of August. This is the most proud of I have been of a video and the most work I have ever put into one as of yet, and I think this video does represent the steepness and difficulty of the ascent that is Kings Peak.

Beware of This Hike: Kings Peak on Vancouver Island 🇨🇦
It took weeks of work to make this video--editing is hard work and exporting takes around a day for 4k videos on my little 2013 Macbook Pro.
Hiking in Strathcona Park on Vancouver Island requires a long journey to get there. To drive there, you have to drive up from Nanaimo or Victoria, after taking BC Ferries over from Vancouver, then drive up past Parksville and Comox, and enter the park in Campbell River to get near Kings Peak on the Gold River highway.
This mountain has some terribly sketchy and difficult sections, with loose rock where one needs to scramble up while knowing that there are hundreds of meter cliffs just behind them. Some sections have ropes to make climbing up easier. Kings Peak is the 9th highest mountain on Vancouver Island, after The Comb* (High point 1 km north of the Golden Hinde), Mount McBride, Mount Albert Edward (a video of which which you can find on my channel), Rambler Peak, Mount Colonel Foster, Victoria Peak, Elkhorn Mountain, and the highest of them all, The Golden Hinde.
