Hey, you did pretty good for the first time. Some hints: When you are at a car, you can press 'v' to get a dial menu to interact with the car. There is also a option, when you are inside, to change the seat. With this you can break the rear window to get in (if you have to) and then change to the front seat. You are then not exposed to an open window as driver and Zs are able to bite you through an open window. How to unlock another comment already explained. Another thing is using 'e' to open and climb through a window. Hold it to climb though and press it to open/close the window. When you are going through dense trees, try to use the walk to from the context menu. Your character will then automatically take a path to avoid the trees.

I recommend playing with “day one” mod “common sense” “hide in cars” “Hide” “grasslands retexture” -it’s perfectly not chaotic 😎

Watch a guide for cars or something. You can click most icons on the dashboard ui at the bottom. Door unlock, trunk, even the key slot for inserting and removing the key. Otherwise look at key bindings for extra menus and hotkeys. Takes 5 mins if that.
