Every Dragon Type has a legitimate reason to be Dragon. Whether it's based on a Sand Dragon (Flygon), a Wyrm in an Apple (Applin), Mecha-Godzilla (Duraludon), a Dragon Tree (Alolan Exeggutor), or medieval art of knights fighting snails as if the snails are dragons (Goodra). . Charizard (and Gyarados) both have reasons to not be Dragon. Dragon was supposed to be a super rare and powerful type in the first 2 gens, and it was too powerful for a starter. I think the first reason is stupid, and Gyarados should've been Dragon, but I 100% understand Charizard not being.

@Nuzzling Glass is one of the biggest arguments for Rock and Ground being combined into a single Earth type. It's a crystal made from melting sand and then letting it solidify into one mass.

Lesson for a potential next time though. Maybe less questions but go more in depth with each pokemon to see the reactions :)

The normal type is kinda just the "doesn't really fit into anything else" type. Rats, Cats, Bulls, Popstars, Curvy rabbits, Gigantic ancient robo golem things, Computer programs, More rats, *GOD* All just Normal.

To be fair, Ultra Beasts do have Pokemon Types, and fight like Pokemon with the same moves they're known to use, they can eat the same food as most Pokemon and be boxed like any other Pokemon, so it looks like a duck, it quacks like a duck, it does everything the duck does just like a duck, maybe it's a duck

Flygon makes more sense as a ground type when it’s presented with Trapinch. The line is based of antlions, with Trapinch being the burrowing larvae stage and Vibrava+Flygon being the adult, flying stage. Honestly, the dragon typing makes less sense than its ground typing! I guess since the adult form is often mistaken as a dragonfly? :P

EXPLANATIONS (for those who don't know pokemon): Tentacruel: tentacruel is water and poison because it is a jellyfish but based a little by a squid and jellyfish are known to sting people it might also be slightly based on the Portuguese manawar giving it its secondary poison type. Yanma: its a dragonfly a bug and they... fly. BUT Yanma is also a large dragonfly, specifically a "darn" type of dragonfly. Phantump: Phantump is literally a dead kid in a stump BUT its inspiration is mainly the Japanese Kodama are spirits that inhabit trees. Skarmory: Skarmory is a loose interpretation of many things. First off it might be based on paper cranes but they turned it metal instead as a cool idea. Skarmory also might be based on a lot of mythological steel birds. It has most in common with the Andean Condor and also shares characteristics of pteranodons, and cranes, birds which are held in high esteem in Japan. which is why it is in Johto. Breloom: Breloom might be a mushroom but... It is also a kangaroo which are known to fight along with many dinosaurs like Pachycephalosaurs and the Ankylosaurs. Charizard: Alright charizard is a dragon but not dragon type for a good reason. Balancing. You see dragon type and psychic was extremely broken in gen 1 hence the inclusion of types like dark, steel, and fairy. This is why Charizard and Gyrados are not dragons because they would be too op (for the time). (bonus) Applin: Applin is a dragon because it is a pun applin is a worm in an apple a worm can also be read as wyrm which IS a dragon and ties to a british story (Galar) of a Wyrm in a HILL. Houndoom: It is a hellhound which come from hell so fire and dark. Alolan Raichu: In lore it gets its power by eating a lot of pancakes BUT it is an anime reference to an anime pikachu who was a surfer with blue eyes and psychic powers. Flygon: Flygon IS NOT a dragonfly (well not fully) but a fully grown ant lion which it evolves from (trapinch), dragonflies are also known as SAND DRAGONS (sorry this one gets me mad) Azurill: Okay Azurill is not water type because it cannot swim yet that's why it uses its tail to move instead, that is why it is a normal type it is just a rodent who is cute (hence fairy) Fezandipiti: This one is long fezandipiti is obviously japanese with the kimono. Fun fact fezandipiti is male only because birds (even the bird it's based out of) males have beautiful plumage. Along with the poison chain, I would also say it is poison type because of its toxic nature along with the other 2. Each are selfish in their goals. Also the Japanese folktale of Momotarō. Nihilego: Nihilego MAKES SENSE. Nihilego is based on crystal jelly and is more rock-solid and glass and again with tentacruel (sting) and its venom is a neuro-toxin.

Dark Type isn't he "Evil" type, it's the "Underhanded Tactic" type. It mirrors Fighting, as the "Honorable Technique" type. Essentially, a Fighting Type would bring a knife to a gun fight, while a Dark Type would bring grenades. . Charizard isn't Dragon because 1, they wanted Dragon to be super rare (only one Dragon in both Gen 1 and Gen 2), and also Dragon was super powerful, too powerful for a starter. Only one of those reasons applies to Gyarados, tho, but there's a lot less complaints about it not being Dragon. . Flygon is Ground/Dragon because it's based on an Antlion, aka a Sand Dragon, or Earth Dragon. . Fairy Type is a few things. It's the "Cute Type", the "Mischevius Type", the "Fairytale Type", and most importantly, the "Fae Type". So no, Fairy Types do not need wings, they're a lot more than just Tinkerbell. . How does a Jellyfish not look like a Poison type? Jellyfish have venom! That's what the sting is! Tf? . The Palworld lawsuit isn't over Pals looking like Pokemon (Look at all the Mockbusters that don't lead to lawsuits), but instead, is Nintendo just being mad about having legitimate competition for once, and using Patent Trolling to try to deal with it (the specific patents are about 'throw ball at monster, if weak, capture' and 'mounts that change based on environment'.. patents that they only created 6 months after Palworld's release) . For the "Is this a Pokemon?" round, you should've used some sprites too, including Early Gen sprites, and included both some of the Dragon Quest monsters that Pokemon ripped off, and some Beta Pokemon (Made to be Pokemon, but not Pokemon) . Misdreavus is one of my favorites, too! She's so adorable!! . KZbin has been showing me a lot of trans creators in the past ~year. It's wierd. It's like KZbin knows I'm on E.
