Any time Estee Lauder takes over a brand I get scared because they have a history of reformulating and ruining fragrances. They also have a history of killing the quality of cosmetic lines. I have had the same experience with Love Don't Be Shy. It does darken over time, I have a bottle of the old darker juice that is now extremely dark and pink after being in my collection for 7 years. I recently purchased a travel spray of the new lighter juice, and it IS NOT the same. People get so butt hurt about these things, you are 100% entitled to bring forward your concerns and have your own opinion about your experience with the fragrance.

Can we all just agree that Estée Lauder is the cancer of the perfume industry, in that all they care about is profits over art and will do whatever they can, including watering down fragrances, to get you to buy more? It just seems any fragrance house they buy up they end up destroying. Just look at Tom Ford. You can’t tell me that the newer releases can even remotely compare to the original releases from 2007-2014.

I completely agreed and agree with you! Kilian fragrances just aren’t worth it at their current pricepoint and projection. They’ve definitely been weakened. They either need to increase their bottle volume to 100ml, lower price, increase performance or a combination of those to make the value proposition make any sense.

I hear a lot of people make the claim that the color of the juice will change and the scent becomes stronger over time. However your experience that even after 6 months, nothing has changed really raises suspicions that it certainly has been watered down. That being said, I did get a sample of this from Nordstrom a few months ago and it was already in that deep, red color. I wonder if fragrances mature faster in smaller containers or if it possibly had been sitting in the drawer for a long time.

I did buy a new 50ml refill and noticed it was weaker and the colour was pale. I refilled about 2ml from the refill into a mini decanter, put it away, and sold away the rest 48ml. After a few months it did get darker and stronger, exactly as I knew the scent before as a deep orange with strong smell. Maybe due to the hype with Rihanna more people bought it and thus they couldn't let it macerate it enough? I don't know, but my experience shows that over time Love became the same as it's known.

You are absolutely right. I have for 5 months the white bottle, and the fragrance is just not the same. I could tell at the first sniff. Different color, no longevity, way thinner than the older bottle. I had to put more than 10 sprays to get a 3 hour wear!!

I for one certainly appreciate your honesty here. This your channel and we come here to get honest, real feedback about fragrances we might be interested in, and THIS is YOUR HONEST, REAL experience!!! No reason for people to get butt hurt over it. I’m in the same boat as you. I always believed Kilian to be a house full of performance beasts with interesting and unique scents. I just received my first bottle of Kilian ever (Straight To Heaven) and I have to say I was extremely disappointed and let down it. It smelled fine, but it didn’t blow me away and the performance, or lack there of... I sprayed it 8 times on myself and within about 30 minutes it was not very easy to detect. So I sprayed ANOTHER 8 times, but after about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes it was an honest to goodness skin scent. What a total let down, Especially considering I have other fragrances that smell similar (not identical but similar) and perform far better for a FRACTION of the cost. Either way, I appreciate your input and hope the community learns to recognize when someone is giving their real experiences and not being a paid shill for a company. Speaking of which, I truly hope this doesn’t negatively affect your relationship with By Kilian, But instead By Kilian would hear you out and address this issues they have with their product.

I agree what you mean about “extreme”. It’s a flanker, not an extreme. You’re right about the color. It was close to that way from the beginning, when it was brand new. I think it did get a bit darker over time. Plus, the scent has changed, period. No one now talks about the depth of the perfume. Why? It’s not there. For me, the deeper scent came out after a few hours. I wish I restocked in 2018.

Before the whole Rhianna fad, I remember getting a sample and it was a super rich, succulent, deep, DEEP red and the scent was epic. I kick myself constantly for not getting it then. I never once thought something like this would happen... Anyway, I got the full bottle after it went viral and as soon as I sprayed it I was like, this is not the same. Then I see the color and I was so confused...I did my research and with some common sense applied, I knew, even when the sales people told me about the "maturing" of the juice, this was completely different/reformulated. I didn't believe one word. I simply said, Ok. Returned it the next day and never looked back. One of my biggest disappointments. But I'm not apologizing to ANYONE- it's my experience, my opinion and my money! Same with you Sebastian. There was absolutely no need to respond to such immature reactions. O my God, you're right!! I just bought the Love don't be shy icon set a week back. The decant I bought from a decanter that is dark orange red and the full bottle I have is salmon colour juice 😩. But I could barely differentiate the smell.

nice review, i agree in the sense that some companies change the formula juice, to either cut price or simply cause they want a change, but hey if it has worked for long why changed it? it is not smart nor sucessful, but, you know how it is sadly, thats why i wont allow nobody to change a formula i make , its my perfume and my pride behind it, my name, if i sell my formula there needs to be a contract that indicates that formula cant be changed. period, cheers , when you know fragrance they cant deceived us host, :)

I just got a bottle for my birthday today and I’m going to test it out for 3 days but first spray I 100% AGREE. The rose clashes with the neroli and the DNA is so soft. It’s a green rose idk right now I’m not feeling it but I’ll test it out for another 3 days. It’s not sweet at all as well. There’s just a sharpness. We will see!!
