Great video. Also check the throttle cable as it can stick/stretch over time. All you’d have to do is tighten the tensioner that most cars have from that time.

My issue is that the gas pedal does not spring back up, because the mechanism that’s in the small box that’s next the battery (looks size air filter box but 5 times smaller) is sticky and does not move freely). The operation is similar to the one near the throttle body. Wondering if someone can tell me the name for that. Wondering how I can lubricate. Used of pb blaster, but not good enough. The throttle body has been cleaned.

Li ma Du Thanks for watching & we hope it helped. The Brake Booster is the circular unit with vacuum lines & Master Brake Cylinder attached to it (MBC). It’s possible that your cable mount may need a little lubricant as it is constantly shifting back & forth as the gas pedal is pressed & released. It’s not the most common cause however we shouldn’t rule it out. You may just need to continue cleaning your Throttle Body as it may be really clogged & filled with gunk. A dirty air filter has NOTHING to do with a sticking throttle cable; your video was almost a waste of time.

My friend had an issue with his 1993 Ford Aerostar XLT. I had to move his vehicle at work and the gas peddle was so incredibly difficult to press down that I was in shock to find out that his 83 year old wife who was the original owner had been driving it for years with the gas pedal barely able to move. I told my co-worker that his wife must have legs of steel because it was driving me insane. I eventually bought the van from him with the intention of fixing several things, including the gas pedal. I came across your video and I quickly went to work and discovered the throttle body was caked in carbon. After a few minutes of spraying and using a bottle brush, I managed to clean out the throttle body. I vacuumed the bits of the bottle brush back out and then repaired the air intake tube with friction tape to seal the accordion cracks and I killed to birds with one stone. The V6 Aerostar runs better than it has in decades and I only paid $800 for the van. Thank you!

I have a 2008 crown vic police interceptor, and accelerating from a stop my gas pedal will pop a little bit and it's slightly delayed, not really sure how to explain it. But for the last 3 months I've had a throttle issue and at one point the car went into limp mode and stayed that way for about a month. My battery died about a month after the CEL came on reading about 6 or so codes all related to throttle, and after the battery died, it reset the CEL. It's been about 2 weeks and it has not come back on. However, now I'm having an issue with my gas pedal acting really strange. If anyone has any ideas, tips, or advice please let me know!

The kickdown cable on my 97 caravan has aloot of play could this cause slow acceleration and when i put my auto trans into the 1st gear the gas pedal is hard as a rock but in neutral it doesn't do that

Dude thanks for this video. I’m super embarrassed but we called our mechanic telling him we had issues with the gas pedal not working properly. Watched this, sure enough it was the mat stuck under the pedal. Thank god we didn’t bring it in, called him back telling him my buddy fixed it lol.

But you are very meticulous enought to show us that !! Although I have cleaned the throttle body myself but I have not replaced the engine filter for roughly a year and a half.
