Yeah, it's a false alarm, but good pupper. He's doing exactly what he was bred to do. Also, that face at 1:07.

We had an alsation/lurcher cross (Alan) and he would sit in the window all day and anytime a living thing crossed his vision he would 'swim' all over the windows, wiping his sloppery nose all over the place and barking loudly, which is exactly what you'd expect really 🤷♂ Cats would saunter across the garden and then sit under the bush in direct view which would make him furious! 🤬🤯💥

Beautiful German Shepherd ❤. If I may be so bold as to suggest it, he could use a nail trim. Nails that long should be shortened gradually; don't try to take off all that length in one session. If you don't want to do it yourself, your vet tech or a groomer can take care of it. 😊
@tosan13 ай бұрын
You are absolutely right. Clipping her nails was the only drama we had 😅 (God blesses her soul ❤️). She was such a good cooperative patient dog but the only thing she wouldn't cooperate with was clipping her nails. She used to run away as soon as I picked up the clippers (and it was my fault because when she was young, once I accidently cut a vein which was very painful experience for her)...Eventually, I found a magic solution: grinding her nail with electrical nail grinder (made for dogs) instead of clippers. She didn't mind the grinding, so I could keep her nails short afterwards. She passed away two years and 4 days ago of lymph cancer. 💔😥

@@tosan1 Oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry you lost your beautiful girl (and forgive the "he"; I didn't know). They bring us so much joy and then they break our hearts. She was a GSD, so she gave you her whole heart, I'm sure, and her answer was always YES! Ah, I understand about the nail cutting now -- they NEVER forget when you've cut a vein, do they?! Glad the grinder worked out -- I've never tried one of those, but I know plenty of people who vastly prefer them. Best wishes to you from a fellow German Shepherd lover.

@@NINA10117 Hi Nina I recently rescued a beautiful 1 1/2 year old German shepherd from my local shelter. He was there for 5 months and nobody wanted him because he jumped on the cage. How do I stop my GSD from barking at literally every moving thing it sees?
@tosan15 ай бұрын
How old is your dog? When they are too young they might bark at new things. The general rule is teach them to bark at command. When they learn the "bark" command, then you can teach them the "quiet" command. And so you can teach them when a bark is appropriate and when it is not. However, be consistent in your instructions. For instance, barking at someone entering your driveway should be always OK. A dog passing by your home, should be always OK. but people simple passing by on the side walk (without entering your driveway) should get a "quiet" command. I highly recommend the book "The Way of Life" by Suha Ezzedeen. It's not about barking, but dog management in general. The key to dog training is that the whole relationship should be fixed instead of fixing one problem at a time. It's a wholistic system rather than sum of the part approach.

You need to dominate as this is him/her being overly protective. If you don't get it sorted when they young then it will always be present to a degree. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnfcmmZqaK2Se80

@gaines8807 It's what they do, any dog from the herding bread will bark at any intruder even if it's the neighborhood cat.I taught my shepards to "quiet" by giving the command while gently but firmly holding their mouths closed and repeating the "quiet" command several times in a firm voice (not yelling) while making eye contact with them. .When they stopped whining I said, "good dog" and let go of their muzzles. GSD are smart, it didn't take them long to get it.

I did train her for recall in peak excitement (used to recall her during fetch as she was getting close to the ball so that she learns not to get carried away and must always return to me no matter how interesting life gets out there). It worked quite well with squirrels, deers, rabits, and even coyotes in the woods. When I recalled her as she was chasing, she used to come back quicky (sometimes with a few seconds delays). With raccoons and cats, I don't think it could have worked that well. Somehow they were more exiting to her, than other animals, altearnively it could be because I didn't get a chance to desensitize her...but I have another theory: raccoons and cats are very interactive. They stare and communicate something while deers or rabits just run off for their lives with no eye contact.

@NINA1011710 күн бұрын
@hubster4477 I had enough control over my shepards that they would stop in mid chase if I gave the command. I trained them to jump 6 foot fences, go through an open car window, and go after an upraised threatening arm, and on command they would keep someone backed into a corner until I gave the "out" command. I also trained them to hand signals as well. I'm not a professional dog trainer but it doesn't take much to learn a few training protocols.

@NINA101179 күн бұрын
@@hubster4477 I guess we could say the same thing about well-behaved children. Where are they? Some people who have been given the blessing of taking care of and raising up responsible children and pets seem to have shirked their responsibility. I see it every day, a dog on a leash pulling and straining and dragging their owner all over the sidewalk. Have yoy ever ceen Cesar Millan the dog trainer on YT? He's constantly amazed at the things that people let their dogs get away with.
