This reminds me of the time my daughter was an infant. We had a rescue named Sugar, who was just about as sweet a dog as there ever was. When we brought our daughter home, Sugar was very sweet with her. Our daughter would grab a fistfull of Sugar's whiskers and was too young to know that it hurt. Sugar being the ever loving "sister" would whine and whimper the whole time, but she never bit or snapped at our daughter. When the whiskers were finally let go, Sugar would lovingly lick our daughter's hand and face, as if to say "I know you didn't mean to do that, and it's okay!"
