I can't speak for Britain or other parliaments specifically, but most parliaments are barely listening in to things like this. Most of the work is made outside of these meetings and they need to get their work done. Even special committees are mostly not at full attendance.They get the memo about it afterwards. Except for big discussions and votes politicians are working in their offices or in work groups (or when they are in the USA phone their ears off to get donations). And they also need to travel back home every now and then to the people they represent in the country. Politics is bureaucracy and I hate how boring it is. One reason why I can't get myself to do anything political. (And I am very bad at making compromises...)

Vector Marketing used to have ads in my community collete's publications, and their ads used to be up behind glass to prevent tampering. I witnessed a fellow male student pitch a female history teacher after class once, and it was so awkward. Imagine thinking your student has a question about ancient egypt or an assignment, but instead the student wants to come to your house to show you knives. This particular student didn't seem aggressive, but he was much larger than the teacher, and he seemed anxious and desperate. Given that Vector recruits whoever will show up, I dread to think how many teachers at that school had to field pitches like this, or maybe pitched stuff to students.
