I'm an old dog, so I lived this. Car manufacturers did the baby seats in sports cars for insurance purposes. Premiums for vettes back in the day were more. Thats why 911s, Scirocco's, Corrado, mustangs, camaros, 240's, supras, and rx7's of the world had the baby seats. Honestly though, 90s kids (me) actually used them! IT SUCKED THOUGH if you weren't driving.

Yeah from having “4 seats” they can fit into a different insurance class and have cheaper premiums for more drivers. In some countries I think the limiting factor is the insurance on top of yearly registrations. Not 10000% tho
