What a perfect and by the book cutaway. She tried to save it but more importantly new when it was unrecoverable and on top of that, she didn't panic and pull the cutaway and reserve close together like I see a lot of other people do.

She's so calm. I was really nervous during AFF but got through all 9 stages with no issues. I'm at jump 114 and still get so nervous prior to jumping even though I trust my gear and myself. I am always like how are some people not nervous prior to jumping?! In saying that though, I dislocated my shoulder during a rodeo jump and nearly couldn't deploy my main. It kept dislocating so I had surgery on it and jumping has been great. No issues! I think it's always at the back of my mind though.. Awesome advice about people wanting to get into the sport btw!

@@moliverallen oh good I'm not alone with my nerves! I do try and take the advice that fear will help keep you safe and alive, I think I just need to allow the feelings to be there. Great video, that was really a joy to watch. That looks like so much fun! I've wanted to do this so bad throughout my life, I'm a bit of an anomaly however in that I have limitations, one of which is because in this sport there are weight requirements and restrictions (I'm too heavy or I exceed the upper limit). *Argh - WHY!? I'm wondering if there's any way or any "place" one can get around these rediculous regulations (two people in a tandem jump could possibly exceed my sole weight, it's not the gear that is the besetting issue, but for some reason there is a single person limit which happens to be below my weight...frustrating!).
@moliverallen4 жыл бұрын
The limitations in skydiving are meant to keep you and everyone around you safe. I can’t speak on your behalf but make it a goal to get your weight to a safe place to jump!
@skydance80174 жыл бұрын
@@moliverallen Thank you for your reply. I agree, and the solution seems rather obvious, right?...lol It's so difficult and I have to resort to extreme measures to lose the weight. I hike regularly in the mountains, that does almost nothing for me for weight loss, that with keto and intermittent fasting does somewhat help getting me close to the 250lb limit (I'm +70lbs above currently), but it is a major effort and undertaking. It torments me, because aviation has always been such a passion of mine throughout my entire life and I'm constantly kept at bay because of limitations. Enough about me, I'll just enjoy it through your shared experiences. Thank you for sharing them! All the best!
@_rmel4 жыл бұрын
Hey, I know this comment is old but I thought I'd offer a bit of clarification for anyone who might be stumbling on this and be in a similar situation. Tandem rigs are designed to withstand up to a certain weight INCLUDING the passenger, the instructor, and the weight of the system itself. So yes, while an instructor and a passenger combined may exceed your weight, they will still be below the weight limit put in place by the manufacturer. I'd be very wary or any dropzone that skirts these rules, unless they have a specially designed rig that can carry higher weights. I'm sorry that you feel your weight is holding you back from this sport :( I've gone through something similar where I was barred from an extreme sport due to their limitations and it sucks, so I feel you! Hope you get to experience it someday!
