Did you see the green ivy on the arms? It was hard to see as the deep red top and bottoms overshadowed their arm paint. Green nails would not have read properly 10 feet from the stage. Your idea is correct, but it is a bit different in the dance and performace world. I was a designer in the industry, so trust me when I say even lighting (my speciality) is just has difficult. My favorite color is a bright green and it was my signature as I found a way to use it it every design I did. There is something called "surprise pink" and the surprise is....when the light comes on...bam...a gorgeous lavender! I despise pink and did not like using it. So if the show did not need pink on its own...i used a soft pink with surprise pink and it looks fantastic.

I thought MDP’s dance was amazing, dont get me wrong. I don’t think they deserved third place either, but the reason they didn’t get first imo was due to minor deductions. There were a few stumbles in their turn sequence and at some parts there technique was off. Staged or not they wouldn’t have won first because the ALDC was technically flawless when compared!! MDP’s group dance was basically just kicking their legs, jumping around, and turning. The Rose Garden that the ALDC did, the choreography was different and they weren’t do the same thing over and over again. The ALDC deserved to win.

Also if you watch the ALDC carefully and try to count along 1-8, the girls are hitting every step and stretch to the same rhythm synchronically but the moves are so tricky and staccato, it doesn’t just follow a “1 & 2 & 3...”. Watch it back and you’ll notice how hard it is to count along - THAT is impressive.
