My Glasgow Simple Minds Diary (Part 1)

Charlie & Jim are roughly the same age as myself, and it's like I've known them all my life. I've never met them, but I do remember Jim's father, having met him a couple of times back in the eighties. Both his parents grew up in the Gorbals with mine, and they go way back. Also Jim's cousin John & I were schoolmates up here in Castlemilk. My window looks over our city, and I often think of Jim & Charlie when looking down towards Toryglen, only a couple of miles away, and it was rather sad watching their old tower blocks coming down a few years ago. (I was thinking of all the old Bowie posters which may still have been on their walls, like mine also😀) I keep the memories of their great music within me, especially Theme For Great Cities, which is still my favourite from their early days. Thanks for the memories lads, and thank you Cherrise, for your lovely video. Much love. ❤x

An Irish man living in spain here. Im going to Alicante to see ye in July, very much looking forward to it. Saw ye in Dublin ( 1989 and around 2015/16). Fantastic music.

Ask Jim and Charlie how nervous they were Cherise, the first time they played Hammersmith Odeon.... they were shxt nervous, i think it was Charlie's birthday '80 or '81 and i buried my face into his guitar shaped birthday cake.... that took some pressure off...... then told them to play as brilliant as they did at any other gig........... they sure did. Please. Please... In France...in Nantes : the sound were HORRIBLE !!! Make a good sound in concert. My ears were hurt .. I m a Big fan Simple Minds However. Very disapointed in concert.
