My Goped SGSR46R And My Friend’s Trail Ripper Ride

I FINNALY got my Jetpro 460 Race Rhino with the amazing leak-free Jetpro O ring manifold with it after a 6 month wait, and boy it was worth it. I gave my local Goped friend my DDM Dominator, which is at least better than stock. He painted it and cut the bracket so the chain tensioner would fit, and it looks great! I'm rocking my 5th port gp460 with a slitzel reed, which I built, and this is one of my friend’s first time on his trail ripper since he bought the roller on eBay, ordered everything he needed to complete it, engine, gas tank, etc, and then he put it all together.
He has absolutely zero brakes. I hate fucking around with the Maddog calipers. Even if you're not hitting 50 mph on the GPS, despite what some people on the forums say, I think it is absolutely worth it to spend $100-$150 on a quality mountain bike hydraulic front brake. They self adjust super well for minimal drag, yet have the stopping power of a fucking moto GP bike in comparison to a Maddog. As an upgrade for a Goped, the value is incomparable.
He is also having a bit of engine trouble. While my gp460 is running quite well, his seems to either sometimes run lean or loose spark. Sometimes it wont even start/make any noises when there is plenty of gas in the tank, when you give it choke, or no choke and full throttle, to rule out either no fuel in the engine at all or a flooded situation, which makes me think is spark. It's his scooter so I'm not going to have a lot of time to diagnose it on my own time.
One thing I can't get away from on chain drive scooters is almost constant chain problems. I'll put on brand new sprockets and chain, align the sprockets with shims on the axle, use synthetic chain lube, and they'll last a week and a half and the chain will start binding up, making horrible noises and feelings while riding. The #25 chain just isn't cutting it for me. The next step in my journey for creating a fast, reliable chain drive Goped is commissioning an engineer, who knows their way around CAD, to create a custom set of front and rear sprockets for a larger chain. Honestly I would rather build an awesome case reed spindle drive for this summer before taking that big leap.

The reason why GTR Trail Ripper is better in every way because there is no perfect road. Suspension plays a big role for smooth riding and safety. I fell off using the same go-ped because of bumpy roads while running fast and makes your hand numb because of the vibration. That is why GTR trail ripper is the best buy if you want a long ride and off roading.

Trail rippers are heavier, more complex, and seem to be way more expensive than what in my opinion are really worth. Me personally I believe a normal GSR46 handles better on the street because there is less flex left and right, up and down, etc., so tighter handling. But in reality basically all gopeds, maybe besides a very built bigfoot, are just built like pure garbage. #25 chain just cant handle the loads and speeds that a GP460 can provide, and therefor the links bind up after only a handful of miles, creating excessive noise and wear. Another large problem with all Goped scooters actually too is the headsets back off and become loose. I've had mixed results with the headset helper from DDM. This is why I haven't really ridden any Goped or Uberscoot scooters in many months now and instead I choose to build a mercedes, install and wire an audio system in my smart car, or buy some street bike such as a GSXR 600/1000 which would be many many times more reliable because they have massive chains in comparison. Not entirely a fault of Goped scooters but the more I experience and build GP460 engines, the more I just hate them because as soon as you add a cylinder reed they just bog from idle. They just don't run very good. I have no idea what to modify inside the carb to help with this issue and it seems like a waste of my valuable time and money. Gopeds really should have come with small dirt bike engines but at that point I'm sure the EPA or whoever would have cracked down on them for selling an on road vehicle with poor emissions, which is BS, but the world we live in.

If anything I would want to buy the MB gp460 case reed, but again, I would rather have the drive train be reliable first, the chain, before doing any more power upgrades. First, I think I'm just going to build an awesome case reed sport with V brakes, a case reed rc engine, and somehow, with a goose grips 3 or 4 quart tank. What scooter did you get? That sounds fun!

Where did you get that bigger gas tank for the blue ped? Always wanted to upgrade from the stock 1.5L tank but they don't sell one.

Goose Grips website run by Matt. He sells 3 quart and 4 quart tanks and all of the bracketry and shenanigans in between to go with your application (Goped or Evo). In the video on my scooter I have the 4 quart (1 gallon) tank. I eventually had Matt make another custom cover with my username on it. I also put a 4 quart tank on my case reed v brake sport project, which probably no one has put a goose grips tank on a sport. You can see that on my more recent case reed sport video.

@@kimjongun2946 That’s actually what I did too before I had an action camera, I zip tied my phone to my bicycle helmet. Yeah Amazon there’s probably a decent one for $50-$80. Then you should edit the video to your taste.
