Thank you so much dude.These settings restored my faith, having installed a 3080ti I was still lowering everything to keep frame rate, although happy being in VR, graphics looked like a ps2 clone. Now I'm in heaven, now the game looks stunning and even the slight motion sickness has evaporated as I'm fully emerst, once again cheers for taking the time to do this :)

Thanks for making this video. I finally received a 3080ti to use with my Reverb G2 so I can test this out. I'm a little disappointed though because of the 60% SS. That's just a minimal increase in resolution compared to my Rift S, which I got working fine with a 1080ti. I don't really mind the motion smoothing option in WMR/Steam VR, so I guess I will use your settings, increase SS and turn motion smoothing on.
@PaulisGaming3 жыл бұрын
Motion smoothing is only a problem with screen capture so if you're not recording footage, turn it on! Might also be with trying out the AMD scaling as well; folks have gotten good performance on ACC with it

Well, with a 6700K cpu and a 3080ti it was unplayable. Whatever settings I used. Upgraded to a 12700K and now it runs your settings beautifully with 100% SS! Apparently this game is heavily dependent on the cpu. Using MSAA is still a no no though and because of that the gravel (the loose stones which are projected on top of the survice) shimmers a lot. Any tips on how to reduce this? I actually wouldn't mind to remove this gravel, because it looks artificial anyway.
@PaulisGaming3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the 6700K severely underpowered these days! Unfortunately no MSAA is the necessary compromise... it doesn't look great in night stages, but the performance hit is just too extreme. I haven't played DR2.0 in VR for a little while (since getting the v2 cable - part of why I was keeping SS low), so I might have to try pushing the SS out again.

Nice vid here; finding that DR2 isn't playing nice at all in my G2 vr hmd, 3070ti, 8700k as I'm getting ridiculous frame drops in the ballpark of 150-300 per minute. Without exiting the game and with 95% of all settings on lowest, I'll get a much improved experience every 10th stage or so but still with a fair bit of stutter and still 50-100 frame drops per minute. Have been testing over and over with different SS in steamvr and processor affinities with no indication that either of these meaningfully affects frame drops and stutter.. I see your system isn't moons away from mine and yet your setting in game graphics are a solid medium to high avg. Could you please share thoughts on how to mitigate the frame drops or make suggestions if your not experiencing it? TIA and subbed, cheers

What sort of frame rates are you getting with those settings outside of vr? Have you closed as many background apps as possible? Even stuff like geforce experience. How much RAM are you running?

For the n00bs among us like me, could you maybe do a video tute explaining the 3 layers of s'ware involved: settings for your driver (I have AMD 5700XT), settings in SteamVR/Steam, and settings in game? Because some of the same settings, or related settings, are found at all three levels and as a n00b to getting this stuff working (Quest 2 was my gateway drug, now have a G2) I am often confused about where to tweak as well as what to tweak.
@PaulisGaming3 жыл бұрын
I doubt my NVIDIA control panel settings will be much use for a Radeon card. I don't do anything special on that front, just the standard optimisations you'd do for VR (there's a tonne of guides on that front). At the Steam level, I just use the scaling settings I mention in the video. You can find those in the steam overlay when you're in VR, and scaling is the main lever to pull. You have to remember that every system is different, and the more different your setup is to mine, the more you'll need to tweak for your own system. I recommend you use my in game settings as a baseline for a good balance between image detail and performance, but then adjust your scaling etc to suit your own system. There's also a bunch of system optimisations that are generic to VR that you should try, but again, that will depend on your own setup.

DR2 always starts on my computer monitor and not on my Reverb G2. How do you start DR2 to have the view on your goggle? Any tweaks for steam?

I launch DR2.0 from steamvr home. It's the most consistent way.

Appreciate for the in-depth settings mate! I’ve got a pretty similar PC setup with a 5900x and a Quest 2 so will definitely give this a try! Can you by any chance share ur AC and PC2 vr settings if you race on those games as well?Thanks and subbed!

Cheers mate, happy to do a ACC video. It might take a little while just because I've got a couple of projects on the go. I don't play PC2. Since you have the Quest 2, make sure you use the Oculus versions of games where possible. Usually much better performance than Steam VR.

Is this something someone has tested? Launching the steam version in 'oculus mode' isn't going to do anything for performance because it's still the steam version. There needs to be a way to actually launch the oculus version on G2.
