*Cannot believe how tolerant these little guy's are with each other! My males have zero tolerance for each other and usually go straight to waging war...* 😳
@chuiamtl4 жыл бұрын
Both male and female get aggressive when they are ready to mate , after the time they should be pretty friendly. 😊 If you don't want them being that mad , less than 22 degrees ,zero egg food,less canary seed, reduce light less than 10hrs , and increase vegetables I guess.

Space is the key . The males are aggressive with all little birds.

Since I have relocated to a very cold zone 9yrs ago , my birds are in short of warm/hot days and the sun-bath as well, without these the birds don't get reproduction neither be singing well as before , hope I will be moving back to Montreal and revive my passion for Mozambique finches . Btw I am looking for WHITE-TIP green singing finch in anywhere Canada,compare to common green singing finch they are a bit bigger and the end of the tail is White ,they sing way better than common ones .Let me know if you have any hints to help find

chuiamtl how beautiful... are they the size of canaries or small Like finches? I’ve been searching if I can find them locally but it seems like you gotta order them by mail from Vancouver? :( I wish I could find them locally!
@chuiamtl5 жыл бұрын
A bit smaller , there are 12 sorts of yellow front finches you can find 2 types in Canada one is regular other is called white tip yellow front, mines are regular but the white tip chants better I find regular in montreal and had found white tip in Toronto .

Nice community of caneries. But how did you achieve this - allowing them to move uncaged? Are you also using them for competitive bidding or games in which the winner is determined by his most feracious chirping with the maximun number of "ghee" sound hit scores. For instance, your male canary in this video had the "ghee" hit scored at 8:10 and 8:23. The "qheee" sound is the score point in canaries competitive chirping. Though there are variations to those "hit score" chirping sounds. You may hear from ghee, ghey, ghuu, to ghit and other variations to exists depending on the locations of the birds. Those living in mountenous forest are the most brave caneries. Some brave ones (we call them "Gago" in @Hausa language meaning a hero/brave, as in the film Braveheart Lol... and the female is called "Gimbiya" as in Princess) would produce these hit score sounds sometimes twice or thrice at a go. I have in the past witnessed a brave gago chirping canery who gave out those hit scores intensely to an oponent, until the weak oponent swells up and died later. The females (gimbiya) are the ones with dotted black pin or necklace. I have question please: why are these kanaries called green finch, when they can turn reddish in few months if they are allowed to feed on fresh red paper, but you have peal the tip to enable them easily much on fresh paper. And do you breed them (or allow them to naturally reproduce) in this environment? Thanks for this wonderful video: I and my two canaries enjoyed and reacted to this interactions from your beautiful community of caneries.

My really old female laid six eggs recently. I hope she is over this broodiness . She has got to be at least 15 years old . She is so sweet and talkative !

I breed green singers (Crithagra Mozambicus) from 25yrs and have never ever had a hen lay more then 4eggs. If you have other birds in there, you probably have 2 hens or this one is a hybrid of green singer

you can tell if they're male or female by the black lace on the neck...only the female has the black lace on the neck, the male doesn't have it...the male's neck would be all yellow.
