“People may forget what you said but they might never forget how u made them feel” So trueee!! I had my exam today and got confused with identifying a few surgical instruments but my examiner was so so nice. Helped me jog up my memory without giving anything away. I’m going to thank him the next time i see him 😭 Compared to the other exam i had last week, I actually went blank because i was terrified of my examiner 😭 so it’s so important for doctors to show compassion to both patients and the students. ♥️

Dr. Rutkowski, you're killin it with this content! I had a quick question for you - what type of laptop do you use for your work and would you recommend it to medical students? 15 inch macbook pro?

Thank you Dr. Rutkowski for these amazing videos. I’m an IMG from India, hoping to pursue a career in General Surgery in the US. Being just out of medical school, and new to this journey, I’ve constantly been trying to find ways to emulate what it takes to be a good academic surgeon, sometimes even gaining inspiration from the work ethic of athletes and people of other career paths. I gain lots of inspiration and clarity from watching your videos. 😊 Thank you once again for your input, students like me are very lucky to have access to online mentors like you in this day and age.

Hi Dr Rutkowski, I am so glad that I found your channel through your 73 questions video. Your production quality is incredible and the content that you share is unique and valuable. I am a high school student and aspiring neurosurgeon, with a passion for research into glioblastoma and have found your channel truly inspiring. I would love to see a collaboration between you and Mr Alex Almari from BrainBook (another excellent neurosurgeon and KZbin creator) in the future. I also had a question, who is the surgeon in the paining behind you?

Dr. Rutkowski, this is awesome content. I will be applying to medical school next year and your content inspires me to become the best physician I can be. In the future, I would love you to share your thoughts on how medical students can decide between pursuing surgery or medicine. I would also love to see you interview other non-surgical physicians you admire and ask about their principles that guide their work. Thanks so much.

Dr. Rutkowski, I really appreciate the videos. I've watched the majority of them and it is clear that you are passionate and put a lot of thought in the content of your videos before posting. And you do a good job of explaining complicated topics in a simplified way for students. The only thing I noticed that you might consider to improve is that in your shorts and this guiding principles video, the volume/energy is a little lower than the other videos so it came across as a little less engaging for me. Could be worth asking others for feedback on that. But other other than that small concern, this channel is amazing and I look forward to all the new content. :)

Hey Dr. Rutowski! I love the content, as it is very hard to recieve accurate and relateable material for medical students trying to pursue a career in neurosurgery. I had a question though that I think you might be able to answer. I am a first year medical student and am currently intersted in both Orthopedic spine and Neurosurgery specialities. I am trying to become involved with either one of these departments at my medical school early next year to begin diving in and learning all that I can. But, I didn't know if it would hinder myself or my application if I choose to become heavily involved with my school's orthopedic spine research and resident department, then down the road ultimately decide to pursue a career in Neurosurgery (or vice versa). While I am wanting to extend and become involved with my school's Neurosurgery department, the Orthopedic department has more clinical advantages and more avenues of research with increased autonomy. Just want to make the most informed decision I can, to ensure I looked at all of my possibilities and do what I can early on. Love the content, love the principles, and love the simplicity of the videos.
@martinrutkowskimd37092 жыл бұрын
That’s a tough one, but I would always keep your options open in case you change your mind. Think about which specialty you’d prefer if you ended up choosing something other than spine? If you like Neuro more than ortho outside of spine, I would stick to research and involvement in that department. Publications are valuable no matter what, but it’s always preferable to work in the field you ultimately end up choosing.
