I think the obsession with being platinum blonde is not really about the hair, but about something deeper. You have had so much change in the last year that it makes sense that you have put so much value on being blonde. It seems like it gave you comfort and strength during your harder times because it was something you could control and gave you instant gratification you may have been seeking. I have done a similar thing with my hair and had to cut it short. It made emotional because my hair means so much to me. Now it is healthier. You are still gorgeous and will continue to be no matter your hair journey. Try not to get too down about it. It is time to heal and take time for yourself. I hope you feel better❤️

Idk ive always loved plantinum blond hair on women and its the most attractive thing ive ever seen on women so of course id want it. Lol. Nothing deeper. I use the best bleach so my platinum blond hair is healthier than my old brunette hair. Its also down to my butt. I have a good program to prevent any damage. Not many people know how to do bleach right. And its actually really easy to manage more than direct dyes too.

Blair, maybe you should buy some brunette wigs you genuinely like and when you’re feeling up for it you can wear them around your home (or out) so you can get used to seeing yourself with a different hair colour? If you decide you don’t like yourself brunette that’s okay but perhaps if you start seeing yourself in other hair colours rather than blonde you may discover that your identity doesn’t need to be so closely tied to a particular look? I think you are a beautiful bleach blonde, dirty blonde, and brunette!

Same same saaaaame!! This video made me so happy because it feels like her. Change is fine, but true change of character is generally gradual and doesn’t tend to be completely inconsistent with the person one used to be, especially if there’s nothing wrong with the person one used to be. I’m glad to see Blair again. I think all we want is to see her happy and well and I hope she’s getting there again. Even if her changing meant her being happy I’m fine with that but I think we all feel this way because this seems more natural and genuine than how she’s been lately, and usually that’s because people are being themselves and in an ok place.

Hey Blair, IDK if you care about the whole “gentlemen prefer blondes” stereotype or not, and I know I sound like a dickbag but - my weight has fluctuated a lot in my life. Men found me more attractive when I was thinner, but none of the men I met at those times were worth knowing. The men I met when I have been bigger - even just as friends - are truer, kinder, and have treated me better. Think about the people you’re adding to your life by being “hotter” - if they otherwise wouldn’t be interested, do you even want them? ❤️

it’s really not just hair, a lot of women have huge emotional tie to our hair. Most of us have been growing it for years, we’re bound to feel a bond to it. It’s also the root of a lot of our confidence. I have curly hair like 3b curly, and when I was younger I hated it so I straightened it every Sunday and would touch it up throughout the week, so essentially I was putting heat on my hair every day from 3rd grade to like my middle school years and then I started again in highschool, and in highschool it got so bad that I couldn’t wear white shirts because it would have broken off hairs all over it and it looked so bad. My hair stopped curling, it looked dry and uneven from breaking off, and when I got the big chop I CRIED. It sucked.

Hair is such a safety blanket for so many people. I personally can't relate that much because I've always had very fine hair and struggled with it my entire life. Cutting my hair short and then ultimately shaving it all off was the best thing I every did though. It is so incredibly empowering and I would recommend it to anyone especially the people that hide behind their hair. Because at the end of the day it is just hair and we are all just as beautiful without it and cutting it short or shaving it off really shows you that. It proved to me that I don't need hair to feel pretty. I would love to see you with short hair b, but at the end of the day it's your decision and you need to feel comfortable with it. @@n0thinghere2c68 make sure you're using products to repair your hair after bleaching. Olaplex is great. Marrakesh leave in spray before brushing. I love Moroccon Oil brand products. Only wash once a week. If you use purple shampoo, stick with Redken, it's less drying than many out there. Use a dry conditioner instead of a dry shampoo. Let your hair air dry as often as you can. Avoid using heat tools. And when you do blow dry, straighten or curl, do not turn the heat up as hot as it goes. Start low, then work your way up, IF needed. Bleached hair doesn't need a high setting for manipulation. Those hot hot temps are for dark, thick, shiny hair, that doesn't hold. Stretch out time between color sessions as long as possible. Two of my friends lost a lot of hair due to bleaching. It was breaking off the ends and at the roots. I waited 8 weeks before touching their hair. (Luckily we were on lock down so they didn't see much of anyone!) I did an ashy root shadow, 1 shade darker than their natural shade, and I added neutral/warm low lights. Both have extremely blonde hair still, but with more depth, more shine, and less maintenance. I hope this helps! **Bleach, purple shampoo and straighteners, are our hair's number 1 enemy!

Within the past 2 years, I've gotten my hair highlighted (balayage) twice for the first time since I was 12. I'm 34. The first time was a lot less than the 2nd. I waited a full year before getting it redone. And I also started this process on completely virgin hair. My stylist was shocked at how light and bright it got just after one session. I didn't have to come back, once was perfect. I got a lot more blonde the second time, which was this past August. And I've been very lucky. No excess damage or abnormal hair loss. However, I do know that if I don't make sure I allow as much time between appointments as possible, or if I don't keep getting regular trims to maintain the health of my hair, I could easily end up in this same situation. It's a huge fear. But at the end of the day, hair does grow back. This girl is so beautiful. If it were me, I'd 100% go for a cute pixi cut and wear the wig on days I wanted my long hair. If she decides to just chop it, her hair will grow back 1000x faster and recover from the damage so much better.

I totally understand how bad you feel about your hair. It's not just a superficial thing, it can affect a person a lot. I've had trichotillonania since I was 3 years old (I'm 25 now), the longest my hair has ever been was above my shoulders when I was in primary school. In 2012 I decided to cut my hair suuuper short to see if it would stop pulling it out but it didn't work. I haven't cut my hair since then but the longest strands of hair I have now are no longer than 7cm, I have very few hair and some bald spots. It's crazy, I know. I bought extensions a couple of times over the years but they were very expensive to maintain and uncomfortable, both to wear and to hide. A wig would be the best thing that could ever happen to me. It feels a bit uncomfortable to tell this openly but I know there may be many people who may be going through similar things and it might do them good to read about other people so they don't feel so alone. I know how much it hurts, I know how much it affects your confidence, I know how it feels to not want to leave your room because you feel "ugly", I know what it's like to not feel normal, but I hope you know that hair doesn't define you. As hard as it is to get out of bed, look in the mirror and leave the house, I want you to know that you are very strong, that you are not alone and that, even though you might not see it, you are beautiful!

Would you mind sharing what you did to help it grow back? I have pcos also and my hair is very thin now. My hair was always very fine, but now I’ve lost so much of it there’s just nothing to it. My ponytails are about as thick as my little fingernail! I’ve always hated my hair, but I’d kill to have my old hair back now!

So, it's good you're trying some products to fix things externally using the oils and such to help with the fried hair, but it's also important to address internal issues that could contribute to your hair loss (the drugs, smoking, recent calorie deficit - possibly lack of nutrients). Good luck! the wig looks great!

I lost my hair due to lupus about 10 years ago. I always had pretty long hair and I was devastated. I remember not realizing how bad it was until I went to the shower drain to clean the collected hair and the whole drain popped out with so much hair underneath. I joke that it was like a person under there.. but right after I remember running and crying to my dad and showing him my loss. It was also around the same time I was going to get married. I remember I couldn’t wear it long and flowing as it was shorter and wouldn’t look the way I wanted due to how thin it was. I can say 8 years later that my lupus is under control and it’s all back with its original look and feel. It took time but it did come back Thanks for sharing your story! It really brings back the old vibes that brought me to your channel in the first place ♥️😘

Hey Blair, a friend from high school also had issues with her hair falling off, she had a whole patch missing in her hair on one of the sides but that was completely due to stress, she said she was fine but that's how her body reacted to constantly feeling under pressure. She decided to cut it extra short so that the hole wouldn't show so much ... People never talk about that but hair loss for women is so traumatic, she eventually got better and it grew back. But I just wish it could be more of a normal topic. Thanks for sharing that with us 😘

Blair, I relate to this so deeply. My mom is naturally white blonde, and my dad is a dark brunette and my hair is somewhere in between. All I wanted growing up was to be blonde like my mom, so naturally, I also caught the platinum hair bug, and it totally destroyed my natural curl pattern. It took me 3 years, a lot of patience, and slowly allowing my hair to grow back out naturally, and resisting the temptation to dye it for the curls/health of my hair to return. Happy to report all is well again, but I appreciate you publicly sharing your hair journey. Lots of love to the Walnut! Edit: RE: working through the desire to stay light blonde, the only thing that got me to love myself with my real hair color was one of my best friends from Finland. We were living abroad together, and one day she asked me what my real hair color was, and reinforced that I was beautiful with my natural hair color, and shared with me the Finnish beauty standard, which is to be natural and accepting of one's self. Like I mentioned above, it took me years, and internal work, to let go of my belief that I was only lovable or beautiful blonde. Remember to nurture your inner child, who maybe once learned to believe her natural hair wasn't pretty enough (but it absolutely is!).

My kid is blonde like his dad and when he was little would argue his hair was black like mine(it's just a really dark brown) but still as he gets older he begs me to dye his hair black like mine and I tell him no. I love his hair cause I love him and he would look like he got in a fight with ink and lost. He would have to dye his brows to make it work. So I just keep telling him when you have your license I'll let you dye it hoping he forgets it. I never understood why kids do that other than they are close to that parent like mine is with me.

I did the sameeee thing. I also kept my hair long because my mom always told Me it looked better and made me feel awful when I cut it shorter but I have very thin hair and keeping it long was high maintenance, it would tangle and break easily and was basically a nightmare. FF to this year and after going no contact with my parents I sat down to watch “Underworld” and realized I looked a lot like Kate beckinsale in that movie and said “screw it” and cut it up to my chin that night, I’ve never loved a haircut more! My curls are gone but I’ve gone to my natural color and I’m actually embracing a couple silver hairs that have shown up. I’m only 25 but I’ve learned to really love my hair and find a haircut I really love after frying it off with bleach and always having it put up when it was long

Okay but you would look GORGEOUS with a pixie cut!!!! I went through a time where I would change my hair color every two months for yeeeears. As you can imagine, it wreaked havoc on my natural curly hair. It took me years to fix my curl pattern. What helped me was 1) a big chop followed by frequent hair cuts 2) oil in my hair every night and day and 3) finding heatless hair styles like pin curls. I know a big cut can be so scary but it's kinda like seeing clothes on a hanger. Sometimes you think it looks ugly on the hanger but you try it on and it looks great! Worse that can happen is you hate it, you wear the wig you already have, and let it grow!

It’s a little yucky but mayonnaise, egg, and olive oil masks are definitely helping to strengthen and moisturize my dry, fine hair.I taught myself to trim it with good hair scissors, sleep with a satin bonnet and pillowcase, and never touch my hair with a towel. Only microfiber hair towels. I gently brush and NEVER use elastic!!! Hair damage and re-growth is such an emotional journey. Oh and vinegar hair rinses will also change your life. No more product buildup and the ✨ shine ✨ is incredible.

New walnut here. Sending lots of love. Having been struggling with gastroparesis (my stomach empties too slowly, causing me to have trouble eating) and hypothyroidism, I've been dealing with a nice bald spot forming right at the dead center of my hairline. As a short brunette, it's noticeable, and it feels so silly to be so bothered by something so unimportant in the greater scheme of things (not being able to work for example..), but it can be really difficult, especially as I can't look at myself in the mirror without seeing it. Anyway, I think you're right that more people probably struggle with this than anyone realizes, myself included. Thank you for sharing and being vulnerable and helping those of us feeling alone.

Understandable that hair is a security and comfort, however in the grand scheme of things you’ll find that it really isn’t that serious. I was obsessed with being blonde too, but it was damaging my hair. I realized that even though it was fun, and I liked it, at the end of the day it wasn’t really me. I actually buzzed my head to prove something to myself, and I guess to people around me who told me I looked better as a blonde. Having a buzz cut, the fuzz ball, the pixie, the mullet, then the bob..it made me not take myself so serious and embrace the me that is good enough the way I come. With or without hair. Also; I found myself a boyfriend during my buzzcut time, and the men I’ve attracted to myself after I buzzed my head & rock my true natural color have been FAR AND BEYOND better than the people that I attracted to myself as a blonde. My hair still gets patchy sometimes or I notice patches when they are half grown out. I know how it upsetting it can be especially when you really dont want short hair or to shave. You can do this girl, make sure you're eating good too, giving your body what it needs let's it run the best it can when you are chronically deficient in vitamins and nutrients your body cannot complete chemical reactions and your metabolism slows and your body will steal from your organs and such for nutrients. There really aren’t words to describe it. 💕💕💕 There are several reasons for hair loss in both men and women: heart issues including some medications taken for it, hormonal imbalances including thyroid, low vitamin levels including vitamin D (we all have been stuck inside during the pandemic and not getting enough exposure to the sun…especially those that work inside all day), STRESS and trauma, certain mental health disorders and the medications that are used to treat it… Much love to all of you out there that have gone through this, are going through and know loved ones too that are facing it. 🤗💕😘

Girl, I feel you. I have a skullet now, but I vibe with it. I had chemical damage some years ago as well. Protect your hair and have fun trying out different wigs! Also, the OLLY Sephora vitamins are great.

I completely understand about the hair. I have always had baby fine hair and after being active duty Army with my hair in a bun for 18 hours did not help. Then many, many health issues have not helped either. You look utterly beautiful either way hun! We love you!

If you ONLY bleach the roots, you're hair will be OK, but that's the key! LOL. Lots of people bleach their roots every month (without overlap) and have long blonde hair. It will still have some damage, but it will grow. Just do some highlights at the root in about three months to keep up the feeling of being blonde and a shadow roots to help extend your growout time. I love your sense of humour and honesty. Thanks for the vid!

I don't need a wig, but I do have bald spots because of my trichotillomania due to stress and anxiety over money issues this past year. This is a beautiful and caring idea to donate the ad sponsorship. Hair confidence is a thing. And it definitely doesn't mean you're superficial to care about your hair.

I lost my hair to chemo twice, my hair I thought was the most beautiful thing about me so when it all came out I felt like I lost myself, I can relate so deeply when you say you feel like you lost a piece of you. My hair is short and I struggle constantly missing my long thick hair.
