Hi Dawn! Great stories. You’re right. The rain is a luxury bag lovers worst enemy. I was caught in the rain wearing Oran sandals. I had to take them off and run to the car. Hi Laurie! 🥰. Wawa saved the day! It was a nightmare! The chain wraps do a great job. I don’t have to worry about marks on my bag. I was able to situate the chain so that nothing touches the leather. I am always aware of the condition of my straps now and check to see if they are secure, but you never know what can happen.

Do they just change the strap or the hardware too? I love your Chanel bag 🥰

My Chanel is a keeper! 🩵. They change the strap on both sides. You can’t just get the one that’s broken fixed. I think they reuse the hardware. They also match the patina on the rest of the bag so it doesn’t look strange if you’re not getting all of the vachetta replaced, which I appreciate. On something like the Looping bags, where the only vachetta is the handle, they will use a strap with pale vachetta. I had one repaired and it looked brand new when it was finished.

Have you tried Art Bag on Manhattan’s UES? They are amazing at bag repairs. They fixed a vintage LV bag and wallet for me. And, don’t laugh, but some local shoemakers can do a pretty good job, too.

@@dawnlovescouture2644 LV has attitude. They wouldn’t fix the zipper of my wallet because it had some minor wear on the corners. So that journey led me to Art Bag. They’re well respected.

Hi, I live in Portugal, just saying because you mentioned you've been here and I was so happy to know. About your bag repair, I don't have any experience with repairs what-so-ever, but I follow an American youtuber who was very excited with the quality and price for reparing her items in a local store called Rago Brothers. I think this store is located in New Jersey. If you want to look up yourself, her channel is "The Blessed One". She doesn't make videos anymore but she has there her old video "Goyard and Gucci modifications done by Rago Brothers", for example, and I know she has repaired LV bags there also. Your bag is a vintage one and you can buy another bag like that for 350 dollars so I think reparing that one in the LV store is a complete waste of money in my opinion and you even can't get a guarantee it would last. Hi! 🥰. Yes, I spent a week in Lisbon in 2008 and I loved it! I also went to Sintra for just a day, and it was amazing! I want to visit again in the future and see Porto and maybe more of the coast. Portugal is beautiful and a very friendly place to visit. ❤️. I know of Rago Bros. And they have an excellent reputation. I would go to them for a quote and see what it would cost to repair the bag before anyone else. They are about 1.5 hours from me, so I could even take the bag in person. Thanks for the reminder, I didn’t think about it until you mentioned it, they slipped my mind totally! I was even thinking at one point that I would see what it would cost to replace the vachetta with black leather. I’ve seen that done before and it looks great!
