sometimes I cry...I was told I have hearing loss in my early 20s, and I needed aids asap. I ignored the doctor, but now I wear them.. they talk about Dementia and stuff, and I'm already forgetting things. its so scary.. it could be because I suffer from Tinnitus which is always a constant ringing in my ears. One minute I'll say I need something go for it, and then say to myself. WHY AM I HERE AGAIN... then inside I try to remember, and start to cry a little...

Thank you for sharing your story. I am going to share this video with my sister in law as she has recently had hearing aids fitted. She had an op in her ear canals. I’m not sure exactly what was wrong, but I believe it was a disease that was attacking her hearing in some way. I know she was worried about people noticing the aids, so I’m sure your video will help. 💛👌 And, I never would have known you had hearing loss and had not noticed your hearing aids at all in your vlogs. 😊🥰

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m not sure if this is helpful but when you we’re talking about not hearing your alarm in the morning, for early starts I set the alarm on my Fitbit which vibrates on my wrist and wakes me up. Always set a backup alarm just in case but so far it’s always woke me up without disturbing my partner x

I've been wearing a hearing aid since I was a little kid in my whole life and now I'm 30 years old. I was embarrassed that I was deaf when I was in middle school and then moved to the city to a new middle and high school. I always thought I was the only one who wears hearing aids cause mostly I see older people wearing them except in elementary school in the 90s. I'm happy that I don't get embarrassed anymore and it helped me to hear it better.

Hi Caroline 💗I came across your video by accident as it mentioned hearing loss! As you can see from my profile these are the hearing aids I wear! I have worn hearing aids for nearly 40yrs,I was curious to know what that was strapped to your top,it reminded me of my first hearing aids,they were body worn ones,you had a box like on your top & wires leading to button type receiver in the ear,they were the most powerful the NHS did! Around a year ago I found out I had usher's syndrome type 3 which affects hearing & sight! I am classed as profoundly deaf on a hearing chart with 110db loss,I can only pick out a few words & I lip read which was hard during covid with masks! I bet you struggled? Plus at night & poor light I now have to use a long red/white blind cane so I am technically deafblind! But what people don't understand is deafness & blindness is a spectrum! I get called a fake because I look at my phone & may hear on speaker phone on a good day! My speech has now suffered,I am told I have a deaf accent,like I am holding my nose! I am told nobody would know your deaf from your speaking! If you don't mind me asking what is your loss now? And do you think you will get cochlear implants,I am deaf enough for them but I don't fancy an operation plus any residual hearing would go! But once my hearing aids are out it's virtually a silent world but thankfully there are vibrating & flashing alarm clocks & special smoke alarms! May I ask why you changed from solid earmoulds to the thin wire & domes as usually the deafer you are the more the NHS get you to have solid earmoulds! I think coloured earmoulds would suit you! Sorry for rambling,I have a form of dyslexia & auditory processing disorder so I have to write everything like this! I cannot sign because of it all! I would love more videos on hearing loss & especially if you get an appointment to have another hearing test! I am lucky I have the most powerful BTE hearing aids the NHS do they are the Signia stretta UP rechargeable all I have to worry about is keeping them charged! It's good to see a young lady that loves her hearing aids & wears them all the time,have a word with your audiologist but around 10 yrs ago the model Kellie moody was the face of Siemens/Signia hearing aids & was promoting waterproof hearing aids,with her pictured swimming in them! Maybe Google it? I hope you have a good Christmas & like me a silent night 🤣🎄⛄❤️❤️

Oh thank you so much for taking the time to watch this video + for sharing your words. I do really appreciate it. I love your hearing aids - they're so cool! It's a microphone that is attached to my top for when I record videos so that the sound quality is clearer. I know what you mean though - I used to wear something similar when I used to be in lectures - the lecturer would wear the microphone + it would connect with a device around my neck.But this one is just a microphone for recording purposes. I hope that you are able to have resources that help you with daily life as it's not easy. I'm not at a point yet where I need to consider cochlear implants so it's not something I've thought too much about. I feel you on the potential loss of any hearing going. I used to have the solid moulds when I was younger but was offered the ones I have now which I much prefer. They did say the last time I visited the hearing centre that I wouldn't be able to have these too much longer as they only work with certain hearing loss - so I'm holding onto them as long as I can - haha! Thank you so much for sharing about the waterproof hearing aids! When I last asked at the hearing centre, they didn't know of any so I will definitely check them out. Thank you so much for sharing your kindness + I wish you a peaceful Christmas 🎄

Hi, I found this video. It was awesome to hear from another person's testimony. This reply got my attention. I know a few friends with Ushers syndrome. I hope you it's still going well for you now this is 2024. I have been deaf since birth and wore hearing aid all my life. I'm curious about Caroline's hearing dB too. I have 90 to 110dB hearing loss and I only wear one hearing aid for my best ear. I have tried two of em. It really messed up my balance that I stayed with my left ear. Nope to cochlear implant, I enjoy listening to music! I wear BTE, ReSound Enzo 98. I'm looking for the latest power hearing aid with Bluetooth. Oticon Xceed and ReSound Ominia 9 are the latest power hearing aid in the market. Try em, technology with Bluetooth is amazing and I can listen to music from my iPhone without any wires like this wireless ear buds hearing people have. ReSound Nexia has latest, and newest Bluetooth. It will feature auracast that will blow your mind! Can use it in public places, concert, plays, movies, etc. Check em out. Dr. Cliff, audiologist, made several KZbin videos about them. Best to you and Caroline

What devices do you wear? I havd a moderate hearing loss in both, i was embarrassed by the look but ive learnt that sound quality is priority!! It doesn’t matter how they look. I just want the best sound quality.. i have Widex moment RIC’s because those are the only ones on the market that actually accommodate musicians. Also, you probably might be better off with molds if you have more of a moderate hearing loss.. I always use molds and I have moderate hearing loss. Domes don’t work for me
@CarolineInspired Жыл бұрын
I have the domes but they did say I might have to go to molds eventually. I have the Phonak Lumity + LOVE them. I shared on this vlog getting them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2TOi6eLo8SYpJY + going underwater with them on this vlog: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXSxaZt4Z7B0jJI I kinda went through my being embarrassed stage in my teenager years as I've had my hearing loss for so long. Now, I'm not embarrassed by them + actually see them in the light of just how much they help me - I'd truly be lost without them 🙂
@kaylasmusic Жыл бұрын
@@CarolineInspired I just had the Phonak Lumity, wasn’t such a fan of the sound quality especially for music. But they canbe great devices for non musicians and im glad they worked for you.. they also look nice so thats what I liked about them.. they’re very pretty devices :).. Those were my previous devices that I just had before switching to the Widex but I need the Widex because im a musician so no other devices worked for me with that, except for the lyric, but unfortunately I wasn't a candidate.. Also the criteria for molds genrally is that if you have more than a 40db loss at 2000 HZ, or the moderate range, you need molds for best sound quality

@@kaylasmusic we're all so unique + it's so important to find what works well for you. I hope the Widex works for you 🙂

@@CarolineInspired Ya,.. I started out with the lyric,.. which loved but unfortunately wasn’t a candidate.. I’ve learnt that the most important thing these last 9 months of juggling devices, is you really need to learn each manufacturer and know what to ask for. I’ve constantly been at the audiologist due to so many issues,.. is that a lot audiologists do not always give you a specific recommendation for specific things but they have so many patients in a variety of different devices so its very hard to know who likes what the most in general, so they really can only try a lot on their end, but patient’s feedback and requests is always very important. I have spent several months doing research and trying tons of devices, and once I’ve done enough research to know what exactly each manufacturer has to offer, i knew exactly what was needed.. I’ve learned how important it is to have some charge over your audiologist with those kinds of things.. i had to beg so much to switch devices this time. It’s pretty pathetic and was pretty pissed but I’m glad i got what i needed finally.. It really also is all trial and error and its still important to be very flexible with your audiologist and be open to what they have to say as well. Sometimes it takes more time and it can be frustrating

Left my hearing loss so long and when I went hospital they found what looks a cancer growth so underwent surgery and mri scans etc and now that’s all over they want to take ct scan in the coming days or weeks to see if I need bone reconstruction surgery. Just had moulds taken and waiting for my hearing aid. I’m nervous !! I have moderate to severe hearing loss in right ear

Just to clarify the growth was post nasal hence why it got picked up while they were investigating my hearing

I'm sorry to hear you've had to go through this. It's understandable that you're nervous - it's a big change and our hearing impacts or daily life. Having new hearing aids or any change to them does take a while to adjust - the feel of the hearing aid in your ear + getting used to how things sound but it's amazing how you adjust to it. I have always found it takes a few days to get used to sound changes. You might find the hearing aid is a little uncomfortable at first so when I would be on my own, I'd take it out to give my ear a 'rest' 😆 Thank you for watching the video + reaching out to share this 🙏🏼

can you make a video on how you hide your hearing aid through hair styles?? i work in a hotel and i want to hide it...we need to bun our hair
@CarolineInspired Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. In all honesty, I don't style my hair intentionally to hide them. But I completely appreciate you wanting to hide them. I used to be the same + it can make you feel very self-conscious when you don't like wearing them. I am quite boring when it comes to styling my hair + only wear a few different hairstyles as seen in my vlogs. I love to wear my hair down; like it is in this video; or in a bun but I now have side bangs. Maybe you could try wearing a loose bun + style it so it softly covers your hearing aids rather than being pulled tightly back? Hope that helps 💛

You said you sometimes don't pronounce some words correctly. Don't get too hung up on that. Your speech quality is excellent. There maybe the odd word that is not correct, but I haven't heard one word said poorly. In fact I would say your speech quality is is above average for people with normal hearing.
