Chris and Tracy invite a street worker into their home. He says he is a world-class Russian painter and says he can paint a work of art on their garage door. The completed picture is a nude woman that all the neighbors complain about.
NOTE:
PROBLEM:
On the original song by the first Partridge Family, called, "Last Night" female backing vocalists Jackie Ward and Shirley Jones couldn't reach all of the artificial high notes, especially when they couldn't reach the high F#5 note or the high G5 note.
SOLUTION:
On Debbie Sims' version of "Last Night" female backing vocalists Laurie Maitland, Liz McKay and Theresa Joanou with her wide, high-reaching vocal range reached the high F#5 note on "Oh, yeah" in the key of A and also the high G5 note on "Oh, baby" in the key of B flat.
LAST NIGHT
Performed by Debbie Sims (Mother Shirley Partridge)
Music & Lyrics by Wes Farrell & Tony Romeo
Last night I couldn't fall asleep
Because I wanted to keep on thinking of you
Last night I was flying high,
I was happy, I was happy
Well, last night you told me something that I
I won't forget if I should live forever
Last night you said you loved me and it
It gave me fever and I thought it over
Baby... (Ooh, baby) My baby... (Oh, yeah)
When you are there
I'm aware that I must be dreaming
When you are near
I can hear my body screaming
Never let me go, honey, never let me go, baby
Never let me go, never ever ever let me go
Last night I couldn't fall asleep
Because I wanted to keep on thinking of you
Last night I was flying high,
I was happy, I was happy
Last night you told me something that I
I won't forget if I should live forever
Last night you said you loved me and it
It gave me fever and I thought it over
Baby... (Ooh, baby) My baby... (Oh, baby)
When you are there
I'm aware that I must be dreaming
When you are near
I can hear my body screaming
Never let me go, honey, never let me go, baby
Never let me go, never ever ever let me go
(When you are there
I'm aware) that I must be dreaming
(When you are near
I can hear) my body screaming
Never let me go, honey,
Never let me go, baby, never let me go

Of course as fan of David Cassidy, and the infant who cried if the channel where I saw the Partridge Family was changed, I like this. What sweet memories!

The widowed mother Partridge's female version of this song in the key of A, modulating to the key of B flat with some punchy high-pitched female vocal backups of Laurie, Liz and Theresa should have been better than the 1972 male original with no punchiness. 5:48 - 7:53

Looks like the tv footage was spliced with an 8mm home footage taken from their tv coupled with some woman's voice replacing the sound track. Perhaps the "singer" thinks she sounds just as good out of the shower.

This episode sounds horrible. What happened to it.

I'll tell you what happened to it. The girls Jackie Ward and Shirley Jones as female backing singers from the first Partridge Family couldn't reach the high F#5 note nor the G5 note. That's why they and the rest of the members from The Ron Hicklin singers as a backup group needed more improvement.

Female backing voices of Jackie Ward and Shirley Jones sounded too low on their original from 1972, 'cause they were too scared to reach all of the high notes or manage to sing in their higher registers. That's why they were acting like they were fraidy cats who were unable to give it a try, so instead the girls Liz McKay, Theresa Joanou and I as professional female backing singers with more punchiness had to afford to sing in our higher registers by hitting the strong and powerful high F#5 note in the key of A and again high G5 note in the key of B flat on Debbie Sims' soulful remake of their song, "Last Night" than Shirley and Jackie with thin voices. That's what happened.

I am not happy with the tired and shy backup singing voices of Shirley Jones and The Ron Hicklin Singers on their original, "Last Night", 'cause they didn't know how to sing with soul. The volume of Shirley's backing vocal during the recording session for that song was turned down too low, 'cause nobody raise up the volume of her voice to make it sound well-projected, so I made a comment on KZbin and said: The first backing vocals of The Ron Hicklin Singers behind David Cassidy on their original song, "Last Night", written by Wes Farrell & Tony Romeo, which is my absolute favorite, taken their album, "Shopping Bag" from 1972 were too low. Shirley Jones and Jackie Ward couldn't make their female voices go up higher than their normal registers, so Theresa, Liz and I as backing singers managed to make our voices go up higher by hitting the strong and powerful operatic high F#5 note on "Oh, yeah" in the key of A and then again another strong and powerful operatic high G5 note on "Oh, Baby" in the key of B flat on Debbie Sims' northern soul version of The Partridge Family tune and besides we had to do it way better than those two girls from that group with thin, bland sunshine pop voices. Sorry to say that the girls Shirley and Jackie were too shy and too scared to reach the strong and powerful operatic high F#5, G5, G#5 or A5 note, 'cause their powerless voices lost all the operaticness since there were no R&B and soul elements in them, nor gospel elements when they sounded sleepy without paying attention to their vocal prowess and not wakey-wakey. It's too bad that the first backing vocals lost all improvement when they're tired, weak and frail.

Tired and sleepy backing vocals of Shirley Jones & The Ron Hicklin Singers that sounded like weak and powerless little people with small voices and small hearts. That's what happened.

No, I don't think so. The strong and powerful soul-pop background vocals on Debbie Sims' northern soul version of "Last Night" are a lot better than the original with weak and powerless bubblegum pop background vocals lacked in vibrato. 5:48 - 7:53

The first backing vocals of The Ron Hicklin Singers with group members John & Tom Bahler, Shirley Jones, Jackie Ward and Ron Hicklin himself behind strong-voiced David Cassidy sounded mundane, weak, tired, bland, boring and powerless with no punchiness, that's why they couldn't sing like professionals.
