I think the only reason why they survived is both of them had their horns broken at one point during the game and lost connection with the tower that controls them.

I've been playing games for a long time and never before have I been so attached emotionally to a creature/character. The ending reduced me to tears also and I'm a guy in my 30's and I'm not ashamed of it one bit. Just watching your reaction and the ending again brought all those feelings right back. Trico and the game itself will stick with me forever, such an amazing experience.

The ending did the exact same thing to me. I also feel like any frustration, from trying to get Trico to do what I wanted, added to my emotional connection to him/her. Don't think of Trico as a game mechanic or character but as a living creature. The feelings at the end are only heightened if you're an animal lover and/or grown up with pets.

But man,, the watery eyes were felt indeed damnnn, very difficult to fight raw powerful emotions like this. Ueda has such a purity to his story telling. No one does it in this gaming world quite like he does. Hopefully he does something for the PS5 very soon.

The story and ending of this game made me forgive its gameplay issues.. Arthur Morgan's demise doesn't hold a candle against this ending.. This game shows that theres no need for a character to die for it to be devastating.. They just need to establish an emotional connection to a character and then break your heart ever so gently..

What a beautiful game, just finished it last week, together with my daughter, we both loved every second of it and the ending is really emotional. Cried as well (of course, my guess is almost everyone did). Loved to see you experience the ending, which was beautiful too. You summed up the game so well at the end. I agree with you completely and although it is kind of silly to get so attached to a video game character (I've always thought the same thing), I've yet to see anyone do a playthrough of this with a facecam that DIDN'T cry. Even grown ass men playing this game sometimes are balling their eyes out. I legit almost never cry, especially not to games or movies, and although I didn't when playing it the first time until the post credits (tears of joy) because I was totally in shock, when revisiting the game it gets me every single time. Also liked how you advise people to play it themselves. I really couldn't agree more that watching it is not at all the same as playing it which is why I was so reluctant to stream this game for so long and why I was almost against people like Jacksepticeye streaming it right when it came out, although I did enjoy his reactions to it lol So I'm glad you felt as strongly about the importance of playing it yourself. The game is so much about the connection you make with Trico. It's not like other games like the Last of Us or Uncharted where you play as a character, grow attached to them, and love the story and characters through their eyes. This game, I really think it makes you feel like you literally are the boy, and the bond formed between the boy and Trico isn't just their bond but your own as well. It reminds me so much of the bond I have with my dog. That's what makes this game so special, and what makes it IMO the best story and the best ending ever in a video game. Certainly the most powerful as it so consistently causes people to tear up. Yours might be my favorite reaction to the game too because your comments at the end really mirrored my own and I was happy to see you were able to get as invested into it as I hope everyone does who plays it. I don't watch people playing video games on youtube much but I'd be happy to watch yours in the future :-)

Years ago when i beat this, its how i found you channel back then. I wanted someone who was hit by it as hard as i was, and i've been a subscriber since. What makes this game so special is how absolutely real Trico is in the game. He's frustrating because its so much like a real animal, I don't think anyone will ever be able to make something to match it. Its been years and i decided to binge this playlist again, and it doesnt hit any less. I would aboslutely love a remaster, or god help me i'd love a VR version of the game. That connection to Trico isn't silly, because anything that draws that emotion is as real as it gets. Absolutely loved it even the 2nd time, and i really appreciate you sharing it with us Elle.

This part around 12:00 where those guys are chasing you, makes me feel better that you also didn't realize you could use the shield to explode those guys. His tail is hanging through and will still work if you use the shield on those guys. Most people don't realize it their first time, but I didn't realize it until my 4th time playing this game LOL Though to be fair one was a speedrun. I've always been embarassed about that because it really is so simple and obvious once you figure it out but it seems like very few people do.

Yes, there were a few technical flaws with the camera and some frustrating moments that would sully a lesser game but this is a work of art that should never be forgotten. I finally started..and finished.. the game after buying the Collector's Edition on Day one last year. I was a mess, so I was watching reactions to make sure I wasn't alone. Well, I definitely wasn't. So glad I captured the ending on my PS4, though idk how often I'll watch it. I really think that the frustration of getting Trico to do what you want him to is integral to the emotional experience. It's been over a year, they could have fixed it if it was just buggy. Anyway, glad I found your channel. Thanks. You got me all mushing up again over this.. I'll reiterate what I said on that vid: Whilst the games controls, camera and frame-rate drove me mad at points, I still regard this as one of my best gaming experiences. I just beat the game and I can't just explain how much of a roller coaster it has done to such emotions. I had to see others emotions and yours popped up. Your expressions and genuine emotion is so beautiful. I never played one that ended this way. I don't think I will ever play a game that connects you this hard. It truly is a game that shakes. I got mad and frustrated throughout the game, but the ending hit me so hard. Thank you for sharing your feelings and emotions. Loved this video. Have to admit, I too was crying by the end of the Last Guardian - but that was from frustration with the controls, camera and getting Trico to actually go in the right direction! :) A flawed gem of a game, IMHO. Then again, you can say the same for all three games in the series - ICO, SotC and LG. Hopefully their next game won't take quite so long to get out the door and they will have updated their tech. to match the brilliance of their designs. We can only hope. :)

During the beginning of this segment I did exactly what you did! Did some sick moves and running around trying to gain some distance in order to have time to get all the switches lit up. It was almost 00:00 & 5th Feb would be beginning & YT recommended me this & I was like 'whats a crying girl doing a videogame ?' & then I watched it & m subbing this in order to watch your play through. It's been well over 2 months but holy moly that mess ! No kitty ! dont cry kitty ! Nuuu :(

I spent only one hour with this game and I got rid of it. After completion of two previous Ueda's games (Ico and SotC) I knew that this game will be too emotional for me. After just one hour I created a bond with Trico. I didn't want to go through this whole emotional rollercoster once again. Sorry Fumito, I just couldn't. Anyway, thank you Ele for playing this game in front of the public. I appreciate, because you didn't hide your emotions, which is the main factor making your videos more valuable than others. I could feel for a while the same what I felt many years ago when I played Ueda's games on PS2. Best wishes from Gdansk, Poland!
