Also, I personally thought that this moment was a tie-in to the 2nd My Hero Movie, where Bakugo temporarily received One for All, and I was thinking maybe he was channeling a sliver of leftovers from that. But alas, NOPE.

I absolutely love the full circle moment of this new form of bakugo when you realize that in order to avoid excruciating pain, Midoriya channeled the power all through his body to be fast like Bakugo, and finally in the end when Bakugo recognized his weaknesses, his quirk awakened into a full cowl version that causes him pain to make him faster. Genius stuff.

Fun fact, in the manga version of that last shot, he’s lying on grass. For visual storytelling implications, it feels like a huge change to me. Sometimes in storytelling, grass and greenery is used in settings to mean peaceful and flourishing times, good endings and resolutions. Characters often sit in nature to feel peace. even graves grow back whatever grass was disturbed. To me it feels like, despite the consequences, Bakugou was at peace with his choice to try and fight/win even when all seemed futile, because that’s who he is as a hero. Someone who won’t give up even at the cost of himself. Now there’s just dirt, tossed up by the destruction around him. He’s a boy gone to war who did his best, who did really well despite the monster he’s up against, but in the end, the villain is still standing unharmed. All is futile. Disturbed dirt around him, and rain overhead. He falls in the coffin built for somebody else. Maybe it’s not deeper than surface level changing it up for a better visual atmosphere, but it really just brings out a dreadful feeling in me that makes the scene hurt so much more. Such a good adaptation.

@@Darkvega2k7 nah bruh bakugou did not take a whole skewer to the chest for deku just for u to say hes not a good friend to midoriya if not for bakugou, they wouldnt even have gone to save him when he went on his whole vigilante arc. bakugou was the only person who acknowledged that all might and deku are too similar to one-another, so it'd have to be the students' jobs to bring deku home.

One under-appreciated part of this episode: Tamaki finally embracing the praise and encouragement that his friends have been piling on him. Taking on their hopes and expectations (“treasures”) initially felt like a huge burden, but living with that “weight” made him stronger in the end 🥹 (although unfortunately Shiggy is just too OP for even that plasma cannon 😭)

When this happened in the Manga, some people like me thought maybe due to how Bakugo's eyes looked in this scene & how he talked to the Ghost version of All Might in One For All, that that new Cluster enhancement was sorta a callback to the My Hero Academia 2nd Movie, where he temporarily obtains One For All. But NOPE, it was just explained as a side effect of his body using it alot.

The moment that really made bakugo become a top tier secondary character is when he battles deku in the decoy City and opens up for the first time and you get to see where his resentment is coming from. From that point on It's straight character development up to here.

Funny fact, Shigaraki did not strike Bakugou's heart, the impact at the end that sent them all flying was literally Bakugou's Heart exploding that's why they showed his heart right before the explosion

Bakugo already has had his character development and arc. Judging from the way they showed his backstory, the rain, the card falling on the ground, him saying he always secretly "wanted" All Might's autograph, he's definitely just died. Honestly Bakugo has grown on me since his redemption and he's definitely one of my favourite characters, but keeping him dead allows for a very interesting story progression. This also would definitely set this anime apart from other shonen anime, making it a must watch in my opinion.

Since I saw you say you thought the movies weren't canon. I just want to say, all three movies are actually canon and have taken place. So Bakugo and Deku vs Nine while they were both 100% one for all is actually something that happened canonically and is proven to be the case in the manga as these characters from the movies are mentioned, shown and acknowledge them as to having met our boys before. so yeah. the movies are all canon and have taken place. Hell the final chapter has a .5 make chapter being a "before the final battle.." having a set up for the new 4th movie thats coming out so that ones probably canon as well.

Currently, Afo personality is the one who more dominant than shigaraki hence he is actually AFS right now (all for one + Shigaraki), and afo is master in manipulate the emotional weakness of his enemy. From the past interaction in first war, he notice on how important bakugo is for deku, so he want deku lost control and be so emotional wrecked when he arrives later on. When deku is unstable and in rage, it's easier for him to stole one for all.

The closest person is usually targeted to piss off the main character. That’s a common theme in fighting shows. It’s because Izuku lost control when he hurt Bakugo before and he wants him to again so that he can take OFA when Izuku loses control
