Something a little different from my normal programing. I thought I would share my Homelite Chainsaw Collection. Some are pretty cool and some are not!

Great video Ed! That Super EZ is a frankensaw...the plastic starter wasn't introduced until around 1980. Nothing like having your Dad's saws; those memories cannot be replaced! The early XL-850 tanks were bonded and tended to leak, so the later ones were welded. I used my XL-870 for almost a decade of firewood cutting and to this day it's one of my favorites.

Let me correct you on a couple of things that I know because I own four of the skilsaw1612 chainsaws with the factory bars on them! And they are pointed at the end. And I own thirteen of the EZ! 4blue, 3red,6white, and the white side are 40.9 cc. I have an XL98 multi purpose saw and mine is a Terry Industrys saw so you're XL98 might be also! I have a 925 multi purpose saw that came off of a fire truck in Portland Oregon and was used to cut people out of car wrecks before they started using the jaws of life that they use today.I have around 140 saws and almost half of them are vintage homelites! I even have two XL-101 homelites that were manufactured in the same plant on the same day 240 units apart from each other! One thing that I can warn you about is, if the saws have been sitting under a bench for years and someone has been working on stuff above them they have a tendency to have nuts and bolts drop through the pullstarter cover and attach themselves to the magnet on the flywheel! And if you pull it over before removing the cover and checking for this before pulling it over you stand the chance of sheering off the cooling fins on the flywheel! Not to mention, nine times out of ten the reason why the saw stopped running is because someone who had it before you was cutting with a dull chain and enstead of making chips they were making powdered sawdust that becomes air borne and gets sucked into the saw through the openings in the pull starter cover and coats the iginition coil with oiley sawdust and it can't jump a charge across the air gap between flywheel and coil. I always check this first when I have picked up a new chainsaw for my collection. 😉
