What size are the pins and holes? 3mm? 4mm? How thick is the mat with all the holes in it? What material is the mat with the holes in it? That is a great idea. Congrats!

Thankss!! It is made with a 14” square bakelite sheet around 3 mm thick which is usually used for electrical switch board right here and the pins are 1/8” (3.175 mm ) aluminium rivets.

@@BengalFlair great info, thank you! Have you tried other formulas besides the independence red? I think your size would be good for flitter cores and crackle cores too if they could spread into the holes.

@@FirstLast-no2nc Yes! I have tried a lot of formulas successfully which contain water activated binder.

@@BengalFlair That is great! Have you tried any with denatured alcohol activated binders (phenolic resin, hexamine, red gum, pvb)? Can you think of a reason why the different binders would not work? It would be nice to know if you had any success with them. Thank you again - this is very good information!

@@FirstLast-no2nc I think, due to quick evaporation of that solvent you have to use small unit and spread the dough very quickly. I have successfully made some crackling core with a small unit containing nc lacquer. some compositions like parlon/acetone bound stars are very sticky and make a mess.
