You should actually check out the lyrics to Not A Pop Song it's about their mistreatment in the industry and how they are "supposed" to be as a girl group... you missed the line in the chorus where they call out Simon :'C ("I don't do what Simon says")

To be fair, its fun to think that, but it isn't actually about that, the lyrics are there on context. I'm sure they would have thought the line was cool and cheeky when they put it in but its really not about that.

not a pop song is very kidz bop-ish... didn’t love that. the “i don’t give a what” chant was very corny but holiday and happiness i liked! break up song remains my fave so far!! i definitely think the girl’s music needs some growing and i don’t mean like cursing but they some artistic edge, there’s literally none with any of these songs like break up song is a great song and holiday and happiness are good but there’s no sort of stand out factor and i would hate for this album to generic and lacklustre. im hopeful that the album will come together nice with a theme/concept and cohesiveness!!

Alright i completely respect the fact you don't like it, but not for the reasons you mentioned, Not a pop song is an amazing song, lyrically and musically , there definitely has been growth with these songs they've been dropping and you can see it cause this music is a lot more close to what they really wanna do, LM5 was the beginning of that now, they are taking us to a different and beautiful place and im here for all of it. With this album you feel the love, the passion, the effort and the lyrical aspect they have implemented that is so liberating and beautiful, i don't know why some people don't get what LM was trying to do with Not a Pop Song, to give the stereotype of what people normally think a pop song will sound like and then they will give you a twist with the lyrics, is a song that is suppose to be exactly like a pop Disney song but with strong and liberating lyrics which talked about some truths, stereotypes and finally being free from all of that, specially from the control of someone else, some lyrics: "I don't do what Simon says " "Said to follow any dream, Be a puppet on a string, Works for you but that isn't me" like this is more what Little Mix is, they started doing something different once LM5 came but now that CONFETTI is coming, CONFETTI i think is full of celebration, liberation, freedom, finally being yourself, love and into that falls love to others and loving yourself. With each one of these songs they have been dropping, musically they have grown cause the sound is so different, is not like we havent heard it before but because of how the instruments were used in not so common different combinations it gave them a different feel completely, HAPPINESS is just outstanding and the vocals were insane, music was just ugh soo good, reminded me to HUSH by pussycat dolls a little, HOLIDAY is a song that needs someone that is open minded and goes beyond than just listening to a song and see if you like it, you need to listen to it deeply, people are more used to a song that makes you go crazy and bop like there is no tomorrow, but that song instead is to feel the groove, chill and feel the music and every instrument all over your body so it will take you to were the song wants and then, which is with that special someone that makes you feel like amazing, youll get to a place were you will feel just happy and your love for that person will ignite. Everytime the drop a song of this album it just gets better and better, people will like it and people will hate it, but us that are listening exactly what they are trying to do will appreciate it cause, this is an album that is going to become a masterpiece for sure.

@@sakuraw.4028 see i like the concept of not a pop song, just not the execution, i suppose. lyrically it’s mostly strong, except for what i mentioned. vocally also very strong, no surprises there! now sonically, i just didn’t love that tired 2013-esque throw back beat cause if the sing where released back then, it wouldn’t stand it. the song could have been soooooo strong but yeah. and yes, i completely understand and appreciate the girls’ new expression of their artistic freedom and LM5 showed lots of potential with certain songs like joan of Arc, Wasabi, Strip, and others! so far i am not seeing anything that outstanding with these four songs but BUS and holiday were definitely refreshing! i just want them to broaden their horizons a bit and work with different producers that could bring si ethnic new to the table: the slightest distortion or quirk could make such a difference! and their lyrics could use some work, even if you’re still going to write about love and break ups and heartbreak and girl power, they could still find new ways of approaching that. they could take inspiration from new pop artists like rina sawayama or bree runaway who are both within their lane or even not so new artists like charli xcx or kim petras idk those are all smaller and even newer pop artists yet their style is already well established, they have “a brand” and seems like they have found themselves, idk that i could say that about little mix and they have been at it and very successful for a while now, so that’s my issue. they’re so extremely talented and hardworking and i honestly think it’s as simple as opening up and exposing themselves to new environment (musically), i am really sick of them continuously working with kamille and mnek.
