My Honest Opinion on Mushoku Tensei Season 2

Mushoku Tensei usually goes hard, but this new season left a lot of people underwhelmed. It took 12 episodes but Rudeus fixed his broken pp, got a girlfriend, and made some friends. But the true friends were the ones he kidnapped and enslaved along the way.

yes the point, which you clearly missed, is that he is HIGHLIGHTING how important sex is for a man (specifically in such a rudimentary society with literally 0 entertainment outside of bars) and that having ED is effectively an absolute nerf. There are, factually, more expectations for the average man during sex than a woman, one of the reasons being that men are usually (not anymore with the decline of society) the people that want the sex, so they put in the most work or are required to check more boxes.@@finlaymatthews5546

For it's the reveal scene that made me disappointed. I actually prefer the manga more in that scene in particular. In the manga, as Rudy starts to strip Fits he is having a Dejavu of a certain scene in his childhood. And the moment he took off her glasses that's when he was hit and cursed himself for not realizing much earlier. For me that scene is the climax of the whole arc. Rather than lewd it came of to me as a emotional reveal since it marked off as the ending of Rudy's ED suffering and Sylphy's cowardice. In the anime, I didn't feel any of that, the direction didn't do any better as well, it such a bland and plain reveal to me, I'm expecting a emotional road trip since it's their "actual" first reunion after being separated for years. I wished they added more music like maybe playing the ending theme during the reveal or something or maybe add a bit more expression to rudy after the realization with matching good voice acting.

It’s crazy that you managed to put all my thoughts into a vid. I loved this season too but it definitely felt like the first one was a little better. Not because the lack of action, but to me what makes the show great is it’s world building and character development, it makes the story feel super immersive. I feel like it lack a little depth in the world building department, as it felt like they left certain things out, and even as an anime only it was very evidenr. Im guessing it was due to production issues and whatnot. Anyway, i still enjoyed it quite a lot, I’d give it a 9/10. Oh and eris is best girl, even if she’s like a beast or something lol.

Just gotta put two cents here. I HATED the way they presented the badigadi introduction. it was more Epic and Chaos inducing in the LN and even in the manga. They didnt emphasize ANY urgency around. it just became a normal duel Show where it just so happens people around the school watched. But NO its not just that. the entire Magic Cities were alerted to Badigadi. like how can a Demon Lord just invade a school so casually like that without any fuss? Like MAJOR people went up to watch Rudy fight Badigadi and witnessed the whole fight. the principal, the General of the Magic Knights too...Everyone was there and were hoping Rudy can fend of Badigadi before reinforcements come about. But Holy shit they failed spectacularly on this episode. it was just a casual duel and nothing else.

Yeah, after reading the web novel I figured this was going to be a weak season to adapt. Usually in all forms of media major plots of simple character development get scrapped unless its a major scene to captivate the audience or something, but the entire school arc was pretty tame and all of the major scenes were relatively short, such as the battle with Baghdad or the kidnapping scene. The problem with trying to adapt the little scenes is most of them require a lot of context which takes too much screen time. I think they did pretty well however, kinda sucks the OP wasn't unique half way through but its alright, PT 2 is where shit gets hard, and so do I.

Yeah agree that the adaptation for season 1 was better. They made changes that actually enhanced the story / pacing while season 2 felt more like "how to cut it short without losing the important bits". It's still good though.. just not as masterful as season 1.

I do think that the second season was weirdly nonchalant about slavery, even just compared to the previous season. Consider that Rudeus was seen actively fighting against slavers TWICE in the first season. Second time he unknowingly targeted the wrong side, but the intent is clearly there. Despite having done that, he basically didn't even hesitate when Sylphie suggested buying a slave. Just couple of sentences of internal monologue could have diverted the weirdness the whole thing, but it's like the writers weren't even thinking about Rudeus' previous engagements with slavery in this world. People would be complaining on twitter either way, but even I felt the way the show presented the scene was kinda wrong.

I want to correct this. THIS is the massive misunderstanding that has created a lot of controversy. First of all, KelLorien, it's just one author, not writers btw Okay, main thing. The author, Rifujin na Magonote, stated that this is the world he created, and Rudy just lives in it. Yes, it is "primitive" per say, but that's it, nothing deeper. Rudy is no hero, he was never designed to be the hero. He thinks that slavery is wrong, but he understands that this is how the world works. Rudy also believes that he is not smart enough to decide whether slavery in this world is morally wrong or not, so he has no reason to complain about it. He will not treat slaves poorly, but he will not fight someone for abusing their own slaves. That's just how it is. Slavery in Mushoku Tensei was never meant to be controversial, it was just meant to exist. That's the beauty of Mushoku Tensei to me. It's almost like you're watching a documentary about another world through the eyes of one person Edit: Slavery was actually portrayed very well in this show. As I said, Rudy will treat his slaves well. However, this show still shows the horrors of slavery. We see abuse, sexual assault, and forced acts of crime. Mushoku Tensei shows slavery with clear eyes. It is just up to us, the viewers, to interpret it

Wouldn't say him fighting slavers in the beast village is actively fighting against slavery. He was protecting them from kidnappers, an illegal form of obtaining slaves. The market he goes to is using legal slaves attained mostly through debt. Really, it is far more weird to be so dramatic about slavery in settings like this where not only would it be commonplace and accepted; it is genuinely a better outcome than many alternatives the impoverished would be faced with.

My honest opinion about Mushoku Tensei Season 2 is: The season was amazing, but definitely weaker than Season 1. The story took an strange turn and the events were no longer as exciting or enjoyable as the previous season. And the anime has become some kind of a ' slice of life ' more than an ' adventure '. I gave Season 1. 9/10. But Season 2 I don't think I can give it more than 8/10.

Roxy > Sylphie > Eris. I was disappointed by Rudy vs. Badi as well. I was excited to see Badis body parts flying everywhere on impact, instead we got a giant dust cloud.
